  • well she started the whole shananigan :/

  • what is cool about kate is when you see or hear her she says things you can imagine janeway saying kate is awesome

  • I disagree that J/C could not have been together. They could have had a relationship, but maybe not had sex during the actual series. But just to drop the whole relationship they spent 7 freaking years building without any true resolution? Shame on you, Star Trek, you could have done so much better

  • Accidentally removed my comment. Whoops! While Kate makes some excellent points, and I agree with much of what she says, I was very disappointed with the end of Voyager. J/C were the perfect couple, they lit up the screen together, and their love-story has to be one of the greatest ever told. It deserved a happy ending, or at least the hint of one. C/7 in the very last episode, just when a relationship for J/C became possible, was a very cruel twist. It ruined the finale for me.

  • I love Kate, but I wish she could have looked at Roslin/Adama on Battlestar Galactica, who managed to develop a romance without anyone thinking less of their authority. There is something very human about needing a companion, and no reason why that couldn't have been portrayed with J&C in a respectful way that wouldn't undermine her authority as a female captain. Instead, they both ended up having flings that made no sense, and were just insulting to both the fans and the characters.

  • Mite have a pnt ~ then again what were the alternatives ~ Picard R data weren't lurkin' about

  • WTF THRESHOLD IS CANON?! O_O

  • Kate is absolutely hilarious!

  • no fair enough not having them together through the series but i think by the end that relationship should have come out of the shadows not the friggin seven crap i mean come on seriously why!!!. i think it was a mistake to not put them together when most of the fans watching the show wanted it but no they shack him up with seven a combination not many people wanted to see and not to mention seven was like a surrogte daughter to janeway sick and wrong folks.

  • This had to be either a different year or another Dragon Con in a different state because I went to Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia last year and Kate Mulgrew wasn't there. The only Voyager actors there were Robert Beltran and Garret Wang. Funniest pair EVER and two of the nicest people. After their panel session, they were doing autographs and pictures free of charge.

  • @CordeliaDoyle She was definitely there in '09, darling, because I ran into her in the bathroom, privately flipped out, and complimented her on her shoes and then died after she left. You might be thinking about 2010 D*Con?

  • Love her and love the character but I think Kate does a complete disservice to Janeway here. How many examples of strong women in serious relationships are there out there? Hundreds? She could've garnered a whole different type of audience had she and the writers gone there. And let's not forget, out of this came Chakotay's romance with Barbie of Borg. *shudder*

  • LOL! Thanks for uploading this!!

  • It's not that she wasn't allowed to have a love life; she just wasn't allowed to have one with her subordinates. She's the captain; she's not allowed to sleep with her own crew. Even Kirk never crossed that line.

  • I really like Kate Mulgrew she is my favorite. I really think if any captain could have made the relationship work it would have been Janeway, that is where Kate Mulgrew and I disagree i guess. Being the first female Captain for Star Trek to use as thier "star" she was right to be cautious... but I'd like to turn back the clock and redo the end.

  • Ms. Mulgrew makes some execellent points but I still think, like most people who reviewed, that there should have been some sort of acknowledgement. There was far too much chemistry and tension between the characters to just drop it. I think that because it was just dropped the random and ridicoulous relationship between Chakotay and Seven, which absolutely no sense, was spawned. There were too many emotions that the writers had to do something with them. Same goes for Janeway and her holodates.

  • @OlafurNeal I agree the writers of the show screwed up and it makes the season final suck

  • OK! Am I the only person who thinks they could have made it work? Why is it ok for every man to hop from woman to woman, but it isn't ok for a woman in authority to find absolute love with 1 man. I think they could have developed a wonderful relationship here and shown the hardships and the triumps of a relationship with these kind of parameters. I think they truly screwed this one up! Can you imagine how dynamic they could have been as a couple because they were great even as friends!

  • I agree :) Not so much as an unspoken rule saying you can't be a commanding presence as a female and not have a romance. Doesn't even have to be sexual during the series.

  • @LovesWesterns I agree that it's a stupid double standard. I completely disagree with Mulgrew here. She and the VOY writers shouldn't have been pandering to sexist double standards. What they should have done is treat the character the same they would a male captain. If it was OK for male captains, it should be OK for a female. Picard had several love interests, Sisko had a serious relationship, Kirk had numerous love interests and a child out of wedlock, and fans still took them seriously.

  • I can't wrap my head around the idea that a woman can only be a convincing authority figure if she has no love life. Kira and Jadzia on DS9 had serious relationships and flings and it never stopped them from being strong and professional. The show never seemed to go out of its way to point out "oh look! They're women! And they're strong and in authority positions!" Why did VOY writers see Janeway's gender as such an issue and worry if the audience would accept this or that from her?

  • i think that, they should have had Janeway and chakotay admit they had a thing for each other and then left it at that not have them get together cos then it pleases both audiences. and then just have her as the love of his life but nothing happening if you get what i mean..

  • Although they sort of do when they are quarantined on that planet

  • kate is hillarious very witty woman she doesnt miss a nuance brilliant

  • lmao what a joker XD awesome actress. and she is right bout the chakotay thing; she needed to keep her authoritive and strong image. and yh seven chakotay thing was so random! wth was that!

  • i adore her! she has a great sense of humour. everytime she is one stage she makes the audience (and me) laugh.

    she's really great.

    thanks for posting.

  • "What happened on New Earth .... STAYED on New Earth." That, unfortunately for we J/Cer's, was their resolution. I die evertime we see her walk away from that damned alien primate, then stare sadly into Chakotay's eyes before calling Voyager for a beam out. She then look her tactical officer in the eye and accuses TUVOK of being emotional while carefully distancing herself from Chakotay by not looking at him as she orders a system review. What happened on New Earth... :-(

  • I agree with Kate on Janeway not having sex with Chakotay...it would have diminished her image as captain. But WHY did they build up that J/C relationship and then just drop it off a cliff?! They should have at least given it true "resolution" by acknowledging the attraction and the fact that they couldn't be together. Instead they just pretended like there never was chemistry, and suddenly we get Chakotay and SEVEN together! WTF??

  • I totally agree with everything you said!!!

  • @kjg28 I agree with you, but still, chakotay said, he'd wait forever and so on.. so it would be logical that they would have gotten together when voyager got home.. I mean, that's what I thought they were going at. But still, even a true resolution would have been better ;) The seven thing, just sorta dropped out of the sky. It was so weird.. :S

  • @Beingmizzundastood Indeed. And all b/c of a silly bet between Beltran and Braga : (

  • Lots of little lizards... heh!
