This is crap....No funk groove like back in the day..... Dissapointed. I guess if this was a black show they would have the original groove going on..... uughh!
im remember the mexicans and blacks breakdancing putting cardboards on street battling in san diego hood in the 80;s when i was probably 7 or 8 good times
@GangstaGTV I saw them over 8 years ago at the Abbey Pub in Chicago. This clip has all the same energy as then, and even more than when they performed this same song in the "Stop Making Sense" movie back in '83. I hope they tour again in 2012. I'm buying tickets, I'm there. Who needs a Talking Heads reunion, anyway? We had one back in '96, when Concrete Blonde Johnette sang all the same songs better than David ever did, or will. Sorry, die-hards!
Ha, i met the guy spinning records on the train the other day.. nice dude.. we talked music for a bit and then parted. Kinda funny. Loving Fuzz in this video.
Saw them a while back live. They opened for DEVO. The whole night was incredible. Tom Tom Club did their own stuff and stuff from when they were with the Talking Heads. AWESOME!! And Tina is still incredibly hot!
no we didn't care about what race sang what, and everybody got together and wrote sang produced toured etc. perfect example the average white band a love of your own check it out ! heatwave and countless others, what happened is beyond me as to where the talent went but when I find out, I'am heading that way!
@adeptacheese because this song was intertwined into the hip-hop genre....it wasn’t intended to but it did...and it hit big time!!! The scratching is paying homage to the only genre that openly accepted the sound. It could not have been alternative.
This song is an example of how music transcends race and cultures. I was a kid when this came out and we didn't even know the band was all white and we didn't care. The music was dope, period. This band, like Teena Marie(R.I.P.) was hidden because they felt black people wouldn't embrace them. Wrong! There was a time when black people didn't care about race when it came to music. Today is so different. I hate to see to kids black or white segregate themselves from good music because of race.
most don't but if you let the T.V tell it, everyone is ignorant to the goodness we have. music has no color; and if both you and i believe that, then there is hope yet for the youths of today. bless up.
@JDillagent Well look at Herman & Kelly who made "Dance to the Drummer's Beat". Every D.J. played that record in almost every jam, disco, or party and everyone danced to this record. Their was only one black man in the band and about seven white guys.
@JDillagent hONEY, TODAY'S KIDS don't HAVE MUSIC! All they have is garbage rap,hip hop,American Idol and an an endless sea of crap! They don't have musicians much less people whom actually write their own music. It's a sad generation that was is manufactured and dictated to by the music biz and have no individuality!
@mrfrogbutt1 there is alot of good music out there. REAL music written by singer/songwriters, who simply don't fit the mold of "radio worthy". unfortunately, the stuff that makes the radio is garbage, yet it's what's getting shoved down people's throats day in and day out. THEY (corporate) tell us what's good. i do not listen to radio... i listen to music that's written and performed by the artist...not junk that some dude wrote that "would be PERFECT for" brittany spears!
Well said. My parents introduced me to all forms of music. From Jazz, Classical, Salsa, and even country! There are and have been numerous white artists, whose musical roots are entrenched in soul music, such as Elvis, Dion, Frankie Valli, KC, and Michael McDonald, and blacks always supported their music. Tom Jones confessed that he wanted to perform as a soul artist, but at that time, the music industry, was still a little segregated. Thank God. times have changed!
Wow! Don't know if all the players are original (I doubt it) but they are awesome! Sounds just like the original and it's cool to see the actual instruments played.
Both Frantz(drummer) and Tina aged well.Check out another great live performance of this song from the Talking Heads movie- Stop Making Sense, featuring both Frantz and Tina!!!
Big Ups & MUCH RESPECT to the Spinners on the turntables: DJ’s Larry Patterson (my FORMER next door neighbor, RIP), Francois K (Kevorkian), Tee Scott, Tony Humphries, & Larry Levan (RIP)
