Floor is classically trained and can sing Puccini with the best of them. Is she an opera singer? No. She says herself: BORN with a voice that can b used in many diff. ways. She usues elements but she's not an opera singer. Tarja can NOT sing many different styles. She studied for opera. Simone has versatility but not an opera singer. Tarja always said she was opera. The style that best suits her voice. Just because one doesn't sing an opera SONG doesn't mean they aren't an opera singer. She IS.

DUH, Simone doesn't sing opera! She took classical and pop lessons. I took classical lessons and I never expected to become an opera singer. Simone sings classical pieces, duet with an OPERA singer. Go look at interviews of the band and their bio pages, since ur confusing the point. U want it to fit your point of view. It doesn't. There's a particular quote Jukka says he joined the band because he found the combination of metal with "Tarja's OPERA vocals" was interesting. That was their sound.

Guess she herself never intended to be an opera singer (even though she SAID SO), and a lot of the classical pieces that she sings are from OPERAS. You don't really have one without the other. Sorry. You study classical voice, you do it because usually you're going to sing opera pieces. That's the history of classical music. Sarah Brightman trained to sing opera (Phantom of the OPERA?!) but now sings classical pop. Cash and Fame.

In general, metal singers such as Tarja or Floor, for instance, trained themselves in order to sing chamber music, not opera (Tarja said it herself) and I think it's clear Simone DOESN'T SING OPERA, just listen to her voice xD

The hell she's not an opera singer. She's said herself in many interviews that she is a classical singer and wants to perform OPERA. She has a classical opera background, and she identifies as such. I think people are mostly mesmerized about her amazing looks, her red hair and her blue eyes. She obviously has a beautiful soft voice, but every singer notices that when it comes to technique and training, Simone is a bit limited and could learn to do a lot more with her voice. @RhosefRho You do realize that it is not really red? She dyes it. It's brown. She was open with that fact in several interviews. She said it's brown and "white in the front." She said she felt more like a redhead. I've met Simone and saw them live a couple of times. I was taller than I imagined. Simone sounded amazing every time. She's positively lovely but she has help just like the rest of us. It's a lot of pressure being a singer, and it takes a hell of a voice to front a metal band.

I was not aware that it was not natural. none the less she does make a beautiful redhead and her voice is one of my most favorite voices of all time in any genre of music. if she was second to anyone it would be Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation. but as of now she is still tied for first. and I don't see her ever falling from that spot. and I am talking real singing not screaming or grunting singing as a lot of female metal singers do.

She's my favorite singer. Simone's voice is lsweet and unique. I don't think people love her JUST for her beauty as others suggest. She has a special voice. I also adore Floor Jansen. Epica will always be my favorite band. And Simone is a very gifted lyricist. Most don't recognize that talent. <3 Simone!

I was said: "WOW!!! this woman's voice is gorgeous! what else does she sing?". and that is how she has become basically my favorite voice of all time. in metal the only women's voices I like are Simone's and Sharon's. I may need to branch out more though...

It's unfair how some people compare voices, like Simone and Tarja. They are two very different styles/tones. You just can't compare. Tarja is a skilled singer, nothing like Simone. Tarja is good just not the kind of voice I like best. but that's just me, and you apparently. Thanks for the video. I still don't think Simone is awesome when singing like this, this kind of presentation show all her vocal flaws. In concert she sings this song so much better, I don't know why there is this huge difference. When you listen to this song in the cd, it's so perfect because of auto-tune and pro tools. By the way, Simone isn't a soprano like other person said.

I partially agree with you‚ I'm disappointed to hear simone force her voice like this‚ she's a mezzo-soprano trying to sing soprano parts and her voice obviously can't handle that. On top of that she doesn't warm up before a gig (she said that in several interviews) so basically she's ruining her voice which was fine before.

Proof: not even two weeks on tour and her voice is already gone...

Simone's voice is small and light but still doesn't change the fact that she struggle a lot, in conservatories you can find light sopranos at Simone's age singing much higher and better. Is worth remember that we aren't talking about an opera singer so classification of any kind isn't important. I still defend what I said in my first comment.

I don't study voice so I've to rely on what other people say and what my ears listen to. Some singing teachers who I've read comments in forums say that Simone's technique is awful especially when she sings operatic. I'm only basing my opinion on YouTube videos, when Epica does acoustic Simone's voice let a lot to wish for, she struggles a lot. Simone does have to develop and make her chest voice sound strong and better. I only can compare to what other singers around her age can do.

Simone's voice in acoustic perfomances let a lot to wish for and when she sings in concerts you can hear that many times she can't do what's in record, I know that it depends a lot in the quality of the audio and the competence of the sound engineers. Every singer rock/pop nowadays is a fan of studio technology.Simone's operatic voice is not well established yet.
