I have done a lot of research. i was not commenting specifically on Long Beach but racial profiling in general. There was a case where the police specifically testified that he pulled over a car with a broken headlight with black men in it because those who had been "arrested" for various crimes had been BLACK men driving cars with broken headlights. It was only after they were pulled over that the cops saw drugs in the car. The cops would not have pulled over a white person driving that car
here's some more research, since you're such a fan. a test was conducted in la last year. a black male dressed in baggy clothes and walked one mile. he was stopped three times by police. that same person was dressed in a fitting pair of clothes and walked three miles. never stopped once. maybe it's more than just color cops look at. maybe they see other indicators that someone is a criminal. maybe we should stop making half assed assumptions with fake scenarios to make our points.

I think we not only need to address the issue of cops and minorities but also how the cops view people in general. One of the things that struck me was how the police rep continued to use the word "suspect". The man had a name, regardless of what happened. I think it's too easy for cops to forget that it is in fact people that you are "protecting and serving".

I have done a lot of research. i was not commenting specifically on Long Beach but racial profiling in general. There was a case where the police specifically testified that he pulled over a car with a broken headlight with black men in it because those who had been "arrested" for various crimes had been BLACK men driving cars with broken headlights. It was only after they were pulled over that the cops saw drugs in the car. The cops would not have pulled over a white person driving that car

here's some more research, since you're such a fan. a test was conducted in la last year. a black male dressed in baggy clothes and walked one mile. he was stopped three times by police. that same person was dressed in a fitting pair of clothes and walked three miles. never stopped once. maybe it's more than just color cops look at. maybe they see other indicators that someone is a criminal. maybe we should stop making half assed assumptions with fake scenarios to make our points.

I think we not only need to address the issue of cops and minorities but also how the cops view people in general. One of the things that struck me was how the police rep continued to use the word "suspect". The man had a name, regardless of what happened. I think it's too easy for cops to forget that it is in fact people that you are "protecting and serving".

If you even attempt to grab at anything on an officers belt or his person then you deserve to get atleast tased. The reporter stated that he punched a cop in the face and if he is close enough to an officer to do that and to take away the officers protective weapon then he poses a serious threat to that officer.
