Not a bad concept evil, except the separation distance between dpad buttons is too far.
Not everyone has fat digits.
Would have been a great contender to the hori ex 2 if it werent for that flaw.
I'll be getting one for the sake of FPS.(the hori has ghosting issues) but in no way does the evil dpad compete with retro arcade titles.Maybe a few but not all.
roscoe do you think the light mod is worth it? cause i was thinking about getting it but idk if its worth 15 dollars, i also heard that it drains battery rather quickly
Check out viking360(dot)com they make the best mod out there. It literally does everything. It has 6 additional tactile switches on it for toggling mods and switching to a different page. It is USB Re programmable, which has free updates and different mods for free once you buy it. There is also a forum to talk to others who own one. I own one and they are the best, not some ebay store. An actual reliable company where if you have problems they will fix it! Vikingforums(dot)com for the forums.
@Zapaxij yeah its better on games like MK compared to something like SF4. but this controller if pretty much designed for FPS'. I like the thumb sucks as well for driving games, especially ones like TDU where i just cruise for hours. IMO much more comfy.
I don't get how this is a great help. What if you want to do rotating motion. like down, down-right, right motion? Or what if you have to make a weapon selection that is in the diagonal? Seems more like taking away options than helping.
I see a problem... If you wanna play, for example SSF4, you can use the D-pad, but in this controller the buttons are separated so that may be a problem.
@zzzzzHoangzzzzz I got mine within the next day or two just by ordering standard shipping. My parents wouldn't let me go look for it the day after, but the second day after ordering it, it was in my mailbox.
@Wadarec It actually is good when I used it to play MK9. I don't play many fighting games and therefore probably not using it to its full potential, but i did find it much easier to play than SSF4. I would still recommend the normal controller if that is what you are used to. If you want to "change it up a bit" then by all means get this controller :)
I can understand this not being good for SSF4 since it uses "sweeping" motions. However for MK9 I can't stand the D-Pad on the regular control. I am used to the stick for SSF4.. MK is awkward on it. Also awkward on the fight pad. Wish I got it for Ps3..
Hmm well, which would you say is better for MK the regular or this one?
@Wadarec I would say stick to the regular controller if you play a lot of fighting games. If however you play a range of different games then i do strongly advise you to invest in this controller. It is however all about preference... and yes, MK9 is much better on PS3
@decemberXbunny thats a very good question and I realised soon after my review that I didn't address that point. The simple answer is no. Due to the raised style of the buttons it makes it difficult to do a smooth movement through the buttons. I played SSF4 and found it very difficult, had to switch to my other controller. If you play a lot of fighting games then I don't recommend this controller, but I mean if you do play a lot of fighting games then I suggest investing in an Arcade Fight Stick
Hey nice review i bought a modded controller from evil controllers with the evil d-pad and evil sticks. I got the controller and evil sticks but the evil-dpad is not on it. Do you know if evil controllers will send me a new one, or at least give me a discount on a new one ? Thanks
@mikeysul99 ummm, I think if you get in contact with them and explain what has happened, obviously there has been a mix up somewhere. they should do something to help you. I, like you, are also a costumer of evil controllers. so I know very little of what to do in a situation like that, but i think contacting them is your best bet :) hope this helped
Hey man nice video. I was wondering if the evil sticks are already installed when you buy it. I am just looking for one that has no mods but have the evil sticks installed. Thanks!!!
@oshaughnessy1202 The evil sticks are a box that you can tick when you place your order for the controller. I highly recommend them, I think its an extra $15 or so. If you do click the box then when your controller arrives they will be already on the controller (ready to play) so no screwdrivers needed ;)

I am familiar with capcom style moves where this pad wouldnt be good. How about for Mortal Kombat? Down back forward type things.
