Steve Blass is probably my second favorite Pirate. The first in my list is, of course, Roberto Clemente. Blass is a great guy and he was a hell of a pitcher.
What a great conversation with Steve Blass. His Game 7 performance in particular was one of the gutsiest pitching performances in baseball history. I watched the 7th game on my iPod the other day and it was amazing to see a pitcher actually be allowed to pitch out of a late inning jam. That game brought back alot of memories for me especially how happy I was for Steve Blass - a true competitor, team player and great person. You only have to watch his post game 7 interview to realize that.
should have asked him about his wife running off with 2b dave cash.
