  • they should drop the c300 price tag to $10k. id buy it.

  • RED Scarlet Hire UK

  • Comment removed

  • i've ordered a Scarlet X, but looking at your video now i want GH2 also :)

    thanks!

  • You need a LENS to shoot!

  • Why would I not want the LCD Touch screen? If you fully want to use all the features of the RED Scarlet-X, then get the LCD touch screen. Why would I buy a small HD monitor at all? This would be stupid.

  • so you dont even get a evf......

  • @aydinlizeybek 1920 X 1080 is pretty darn close to 2k. 16mm film scanned is nativity 1920 X 1080.

  • @titaniumslug there are three shortfilms shot with it on canons website. they look good. but not $16k good. id rather have a sony fs100

  • In all honesty if any one is looking at buying this camera they really need to re evaluate what it is that they are getting in to. this camera is a cine camera not a basic run of the mill prosumer hd camera. so the way I see it if you are going to buy this camera I'd be preparing my self to spend at least 25k and no less. Its really stupid to try to get into a cine getup and think its going to be cheap. I have a canon 60D and I have every thing I need for under 2k start up.

  • @trip3980 I do too, Canon 60D is awesome... And I am in Video business. Works fine for me...

  • @trip3980 finally a smart well written youtube post about this c300 vs scarlet crap

  • Mark you live in California and RED is also in California. Some people that do not live in California do not have to pay tax.

When I order from Amazon I never pay tax because there is no Amazon in my state, but if I order from Apple website I have to pay state tax because there is a Apple store in my state.

  • thanks for the info!

  • i reccomend EVERYONE read the creative Cow article the truth about pixels.

  • So you've decided to get it? I'm happy for you, and I'd love to see some footage soon.

Personally I'll be saving the money for now, I'd first like to see what canon is going to do with their concept DSLR.

  • You will need to upgrade you computer too.

  • Did you try reducing your shutter speed. Normally when I put on to 1/50 it reduces flicker a lot. 1/30 also helps.

  • if you have the 13 grand you might as well just put in the last 1-2grand and get the package deal. Its still cheaper then the C300 but I am going to hold off since no footage of the Scarlet has been released yet.

  • I should probably master the video function on my point-and-shoot first.

  • great vblog keep it up

  • For a true cinematic experience, an amateur/semi-pro videographer must buy the IKONOSKOP A-CAM DII. It's cheaper, no rolling shutter due to a CCD sensor and you get stunning picture quality.. Canon/Red they're all overrated and expensive gimmick camera's. Just type in IKONOSKOP at Vimeo and you'll understand what i mean.

  • @aydinlizeybek Red is a gimmick camera? WTF?! Do you have any idea how many major motion pictures have been shot on Red? Nothing gimmicky about it.

  • @ar4216 Of course i do, Red One may be ok to shoot motion pictures, but this channel isn't for Jerry Bruckheimers or for Peter Jacksons, it's for guys like you and me, and for us Red Scarlet X camera is just a gimmick cam. At Vimeo you can see rich guys filming their cats with a Red camera. I'm not saying Red Scarlet X is a bad camera, i'm just saying for amateur/semi-pro videographers Ikonoskop A-Cam DII is a far better choice than Red Scarlet X for less money.

  • @aydinlizeybek The Ikonoskop sells for 7,700 Euros so at the current exchange rate you're looking at well over $10,000. And this does not include how much you have to add to make it a viable camera. So for a far less capable camera you're spending a lot of money. Most amateurs would be better off just shooting videos with their point and shoot for a couple hundred bucks. I'm sure Red is overkill for a lot of people. But so is the Ikonoskop. If you're gonna spend this amount of money get the Red.

  • @aydinlizeybek Uh... body only the Ikonoskop is 10 596 USD (7 700 Euro) and more expensive (Unless I am missing something; which I very well may be)

Though, looking at their tests: The shadows are really blue/purpleish. I like the overall look though.

  • @aydinlizeybek

I agree. I believe that if you're going to drop this kind of cash on a camera anyway you should have real money making projects on the horizon, already have good projects under you belt and already have steady cash flow coming in from the business. Some of the best work I've seen was filmed with cameras that cost a fraction of the price.

  • @aydinlizeybek With that sensor, It's overpriced.

  • @aydinlizeybek Did they ever fix the weird color shift when going into overexposure? Other than that the IKONOSKOP is awesome.

  • @eyepatchentertainmen i get whats aydinlizeybek means canon is expensive!. they do make good cameras but i do get him its expensive. scarlet x videos look awesome tho

  • @aydinlizeybek Is not much cheaper if you count the price of the Memory card. And you will need a lot of them due to the uncompressed huge file size and you still need to buy a monitor. And I love the quality on the Ikonoskop but Red is definitely a cinematic camera, well they have actually shoot movies with it.

  • @aydinlizeybek It doesn't even do 2K, from what I can see on the site. And almost any camera can make good looking web footage, the real question is how it fares on the big screen.

  • @aydinlizeybek Hey, first I have heard of these IKONOSKOP, looking into them! They arent 4k? only 1080 HD ?

  • @aydinlizeybek The IKONOSKOP is great but I'll stay with 4K and 5K cameras

  • @aydinlizeybek Yeah it's great if you don't need sharp focus. The Scarlet beats it out in resolution by a mile...

  • Dude what's the point in spending 12000 in the first place if you are then going to scrimp and scrape. Just admit that the scarlet x isn't actually cheaper than the canon c300. Its still higher specced. That should be enough for you.

  • @titaniumslug Doesn't the Canon have a suggested retail price of $20,000? Pretty sure that for less money you can still get the higher specced Red and still be able to shoot.

  • @ar4216 the MSRP is 20K, yes. But street will be about 20% off of that. some places already have it at 16K.

Real, ready to shoot (Minus lenses) for both cameras is about 16K

I am talking: able to see/use menu's, an hour + of shooting spread over two cards, and two batteries

  • @titaniumslug By the way, did you see the prices of those new Canon lenses? $47,000 for one of the zooms! It does look awesome though.

  • @titaniumslug canon C300 down outputs to 1080, for $20K. doesn't even shoot 60fps. not a good choice. Canon dropped the ball. I'm curious about their new DSLR and its price tho.

  • @fourth1000 Yeah, both these cameras are way out of my price range, and i agree that 1080p seems a little stupid for $16/20k. Although the fact that every output pixel has a dedicated red, blue and 2 green pixel/s is interesting and in theory will produce a perfect 1080p image. So its probably a little early to judge their image quality without seeing samples.

  • @fourth1000 20K MRP. You can pre-order it at a handful of places for 16K.

ALSO: 2K (6% off from 1080P as 2K pizels are counted horizontally, but 1080P are counted vertically) is what most projectors are in the US: and on an IMAX screen you can not even make out 4K resolution
