  • I love this video. I love all things vintage. Women used to look so polished. I, for one, am taking notes and subscribing.

  • I decided to go to sleep after watching this and looked to my clock and it was a quarter of eleven lol

  • so beautiful :(

  • Im sixteen and I LOVE the style/make up in this era :D

  • @07ngoma me too! i wish we still dressed like this

  • Words to live by: "Make sure your hemline is even. Don't let your slip show." Now, how many women still wear slips... I'm sure a lot of people on here don't even know what a slip is LOL

  • why can't girls at my school see this video?

  • @BeatlesGirl707 First off, you said that you didn't say anything to me but your comment clearly said "We look like crap these days." WE as in the general public. I AM the general public. My point is, you said that nowadays, we don't care how we look but I along with tons of people I know take good care of themselves and put effort into looking presentable. So be aware next time you throw the general public into your comments. Hence, my response to you, "Speak for yourself". Goodbye now.

  • @BeatlesGirl707 Speak for yourselffff.

  • fab

  • I dont get how some people complain how women nowadays look like crap or do not take care of themselves as much as before, while many still complain how the media nowadays cause many girls to be insecure about their looks and therefore causing girls to put in more time into trying to look good. So which one is better? taking care of your looks or not?

  • i actually paused to see what time she went tp sleep..lol

  • life must have been hell back then. So many restrictions!

But I still like the fashion

  • Women back were really take care of themselves by how they look and dress!!!

  • I love the 1940's look.

  • "Sue acoid red nail polish, as it would call attention to her STUBBY hands" wow what a bitch. You don't just call out the imperfections of a woman like that.

  • superb!!

  • Are these videos originally from the 40s??

  • @Zacatecana91 I know you asked this question a while ago, but yes these are vintage videos.

  • wow that must have been hard to look perfect everyday.

  • No butch hair. You might attract a lesbian.

  • I bet these videos infuriated the future feminists of the 60s-70s

    haha

    Oh well, still love them!!

  • @stillmissheath2 i know, that was jacked up :) (the stubby hands part)

  • gracious!!! So much work we go through!!!

  • OMG I am in love with this video, so much fun !!!

  • The "Fun With Shorts" version is wicked funny.

  • I love these videos!

  • I love the stubby hands part :')

  • perhaps Sue's hands wouldn't look so stubby if she had a little bit longer nail! As always great video....they are all fantastic

    Lisa

  • Wonderful!

  • I just love these videos.

  • I love these videos!! It's ashamed that some of the young girls today don't watch these videos. They look like they cake on the darkest colors, and tons of it because it's "the in thing". When my sister and nieces would come over to visit my mom, my nieces would have the darkest lip liner on and mom would give them this look and they ASAP! My mother would say to them, "It's better to have neutral colors and look lady-like, than to look like a street-walker coming into my house!" LOL!

  • Fantastic, Very Good. Greetings

  • Yesterday at work I literally spent the whole day flipping through vintage women's magazines from the 30's -50's and let me tell you appearance was everything! Every other page was an advertisment for beauty products and how you can improve yourself to snag the man of you dreams!

  • go to the prelinger archives

  • Charming! ;D I love these!

  • "Sue avoids red nail polish, as it would call attention to her stubby hands"...

Wow, us women haven't changed a bit =P

  • @BeautyxinChains Thats true. We r our own worst credict at times. Thats why we have such routines to date. Manis and Pedis aren't for the others, they're to make ourselves feel better about our flaws. I think with attention to our personal details, the whole package is priceless... worth every hour on straightening hair, and ironing clothes....

  • @BeautyxinChains lol that made me laugh so hard

  • Very neat! 10:45 is pretty late for a girl to be going to sleep. lol :-)

  • I positively love these!

  • THIS IS SO CUTE!

  • Thanks , for uploading this video I love it

  • :) I loved it

  • Cute video, there was such a simplesty of that era that is totally charming!

  • I would kill for her pajamas. lol

  • "Good health is the rule. For good health is one of the foundations of your appearance". Indeed.

  • I love movies from this era and have a large collection of them

  • hahahah "sue does not wear red nail polish because it would draw attention to her stubby hands" that made me LOL

  • a shit!! i hav stubby hands!!

    ^o^

    so should i avoid color...??

    U_U

  • That was pretty awesome.

  • Thank you for sharing this. "Easy does it" on the lipstick. Found that line so funny. Also found it a bit ironic that there was the odd comment from a male narrator. Seems like the daily routine of the 1940's had the ulitmate goal of securing a "man".

  • Cute video.
