  • I saw this title and thought, awesome! i'm gunna be able to play this! ..... i was wrong. D:

  • @paulefty ; doesnt have anything to do with the speed of the lick, moron. it's a SLOW BLUES, lick.

  • This is a dying art my friend. I am trying to learn myself. This is the TRUEST form of guitar. SRV was the man and you're pretty damn good yourself.

  • That lick is RIDICULOUS and your take is great ;)

  • great lesson. thanks

  • good job

  • Sounds like Philip Sayce to me. ;)

  • what guitar model is that you're playing? it looks great btw!!

  • that´s what most people call a full guitar solo but SRV does it in only 4 seconds

  • Nice Instructional Video. Keep up the good work.

  • seriously how do you get that SRV tone..

i've been asking everywhere... very very desperate to know

  • man, I'm from brazil and I just wanna say that all of your lesson helps me a lot!!! I'm a huge SRV fan to!!! and to me, that concert at el mocambo was the best guitar player performance live that I ever saw!!! specially texas flood!!! thanks for the lessons!!!

  • what gauge strings do you use bro?

  • can u post tabs?

  • notice you use your 2nd finger to move whole steps in the pentatonic. Is that intentional or habbit? thanks for the vids man

  • best version of this song of SRV is this one watch?v=d-KE0VwHJL4 i listen to this every freaking day...best ever

  • omg, I heard the recoding and died...

  • I always learn some tasty stuff from you! Thanks a lot.

  • excellent lesson..... thanks.

    Excellent clear lessons. Thanks.

  • whole afternoon, every day

  • What strings are you using?

  • is this lick in the blues scale?

  • i love your videos man! => tnx a lot!

  • You are a guitar genius and a truly gifted teacher! I am on your website looking around and WOW is all I can say!!!! I'm subscribing to your channel immediately.

  • i really shouldnt start my 'guitar journey' with this lick :P good job though loved it !!! since srv is my favorite guitarist ill be wandering on your videos frequently from now on :-)

  • nice job.good lesson.

  • where can you get that recording? i see a few vids on youtube but I cant find the one with that lick

  • Check around for a bootleg called "Accolades".

  • @gr8bluesgtr

I know for a fact that some SRV-crazed fan is putting out a killer "best of" CD this summer that's supposed to put all the "greatest hits" albums to shame. The be all, end all of SRV bootlegs. Best live performances, rare jams & soundchecks, interviews, etc. I know the guy. He's releasing it under an alias because the record companies would never allow it. Want me to keep you posted?

  • @garthhammons I have this backing track.have you managed to get it

  • @Dogslow I have a recording of the song but I dont have the backing track

  • chevere,

  • hey dude this is amazing thanks

    5*

  • is this to be played over the I chord of the key you're in?

  • It's played as the chord progression transitions back to the I chord at Bar 8. The chords that lead into it are played over Bar 7 on the IV chord.

  • @gr8bluesgtr First thing: your videos are fantastic. Seriously.

Second thing: is this what you really mean to say? Or did you mean the 6th & 7th or 10th & 11th? Maybe I'm missing it.

  • @worldofoscillation what part of the video?

  • Pretty ax! Great lesson. Thanks!

  • Hmmm can't believe the action on your guitar is it so tight, what is the gap on the 12th fret

  • I don't have exact measurements, but the action is set decently high.

  • uhuh, ok I'll watch this like ten years later ok? lol!

  • Is there a link to the original recording of this, via youtube or something? I found the song on youtube, but not the version you're teaching from, and I'd really like to hear the full original. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • The bootleg name is "Accolades". I don't know if that helps narrow it down or not, but it should be pretty easy to find online.

  • Speaking of fast licks, you should do a video about the main lick in Scuttle Buttin. I think you're probably one of the only people who could actually pull it off!

    Great lessons, keep it up!

  • Excellent!!!!!

  • very nice vid. Good job

  • Wow, great lesson man. I can't wait to learn this and show off haha! (albeit a tad slower ;) Keep up the good work, much appreciated.

  • jesus christ!! stevie was a machine if any "shredder" mocks this guy whoa they better beware brilliant lesson i gotta find that song :)

  • Yeah, Stevie was aweasome. I hate it when little kids claim Zakk Wlydes the best. All Zakk can do is shred, lol.

  • im 30 and i love zaak. hes the man! so was dime! i love srv as well. i play guitar as well as i do cause of all 3 of them.

  • @antmann01 agreed!

  • @antmann01 Zakk is good too! theyre both such different guitar players anyway!

  • @antmann01 ummm,,,,,,Zakk is absolutely the best at what he does, as was Stevie,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they both do completely different things on the guitar,,,,,,there is no meaningful way to compare,,,,,both are completely inspirational, both utterly dedicated to their art!

  • @antmann01 All I did was shred when I was a kid starting out. Its amazing to me just how much more difficult it is to be melodic.

  • Haha the title says "...Slow Blues Lick".

    Slow. Hahaha!

  • The backing track is slow he plays fast over the top.

  • @paulefty That is funny. For those that might be confused, slow blues refers more to the slow tempo and feel, even if the solos are played fast and aggressive.

  • great lesson man!

and what was the name of this song that stevie covered?

  • you done lost your good thing now by bb king

  • Hey anthony..Can you please send me the link of SRV's version of You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now? I don't think I've ever heard it.

  • I cant sing I aint pretty and my legs are thin.

  • Holy Jesus... SRV is the man

  • gr8 lesson, i really like how you do it slow and hold the guitar so we can see what you are doing..thanks a bunch !!!

  • HAHAHAHA "slow" =P

  • it's a over a slow blues track

  • *your* lessons...dang typo.

Also, question. What pickups are in that guitar? I am assuming you are playing through the Blues Junior?

  • Those are Lollar Blonde's. The amp is the Samamp VAC 23 1x15 combo that I demoed a vew videos back.

  • As always Anthony. Great lesson. Although I have never wanted to copy Stevie lick for lick, you lessons have guided me down some great roads to discovering my own style. THANKS

  • slow ??? lol

  • The song it was played in was slow blues.

  • ok i understand better :p anyway , you do a great job ! keep on man
