@missmakeupbyTT that answer will be different for everyone. i think if youre a makeup artist or put on makeup for yourself and enjoy luxury items then yes, if its really not important to you then no. MAC brushes (in my opinion) are just luxury, not nessesity.. The fact that you ask this makes me *think* you dont crave luxury for brushes so you could proably just skip MAC, there are plenty of great brands - you should use the extra cash for other things you love more. :) xox
i found that with the pink oval foundation brush it works best it u stible it on the buff it out i know it seems backwards but it works amazing try it see if it works for u aqnd tell me how it worked :)
Koren, the handle looks very short on them, does that not effect the balance i use all sorts of brushes from mac to dollar store brands and ebay ones my faverite is smash box because the handles are so well balanced what do you think of the balance on the coastal scents brushes
use a gentle shampoo and carefully wash it, soap is drying and might effect the glue that holds the brush fibres, but gentle (and usually cheap) shampoo is great for it and smells really nice
that they do not sell some of the pink brush anymore..like the jumbo powder pink brush i feel so sad coz i want all of it.. i wish they gon sell it again..

oh, the Italian Badger -- gosh if I ever have my own line of brushes, they'll be Italian badgers. For cream products, definitely the Japanese synthetic brushes.

yes, many uses that for cream blushes, it take a little work/blending as the white bristles tend to resist creams a little, but once it does, it gives a nice finish to cream blushes.

i think they are nickel-plated not nickel. All MAC brushes have nickel ferrules too. Most makeup brushes actually have nickel ferrules. what happens when you touch nickel?
hmm have you check the black ferrule brushes at Crown Brushes? Not sure if its nickel base, but its black lacquered. so that might help you. have a look at their site.

hey Shena- for setting powders on liquid foundation, its best to use a Jumbo Powder Brush. Kabuki brush will disturb the foundtaion, as its firm and dense, and designed to buff the skin. So a regular powder brush will be better.
hey Raj - I like using the flat-top buffers with handle on Tech and MoistureBlend. If Im using a MAC brush it would be a 109. So, any of the flat-top handled will be good alternatives.
I have a question, so i ended up buying these brushes and ive been using them for a couple of months now. I noticed that the ones with the black bristle leak color everytime i clean them. Do you know the reason behind this and what i should use to stop it from leaking black color on my towels and so on everytime i clean it.
hey Lov3 - yes, thats normal. When the brushes are manufactured they use a black vegetable dye to preserve and protect the bristles from storage and shipping prior to getting to the store's shelves. They dyes are non toxic and will eventually wash of. So the bleeding is normal on brushes. It will stop.

the bristles are pretty much the same, the pink ones are lighter in weight, and of course the handles - but as far as the bristles, theyre pretty much the same.

hey skittles it depends on how you do your makeup - the Angle blush brush is great for contouring too. So you will prbably have multiple use from the angled one.
After watch this vedio, I ordered some brushes on this pink collections.After I tried them,it makes me really dispointed. The hairs of the stippler are too strong, it poke my skins. And I contact the seller. They told me I can not return them. And another angle brush, when I washed it, the color of the hairs are still coming out. Not recommends it.
Hi Koren, I have cheap brushes and I'm looking to get better ones, so I have a couple of questions about these. 1. My current brush hairs fall out all the time and there will be hairs sticking out of the tip when I go to apply my eyeshadow - will this happen with these Coastal Scents brushes? And 2. Are these actually good brushes comparable in quality to.. MAC or Dior brushes or will I get what I pay for?
hey Jessica - you will get shedding at first on the alrger brushes. Much like brand brushes like MAC or Dior, they do shed the first few washes. The CS brushes are great alternative if you have your heart set on Dior or MAC, go for that too. So far many have acquired these brushes since my review and made their own review videos, and frm what ive seen mostly positive reviews.

hey cindy- FDX is FedEx (Federal Express). Go for USPS (US Postal Service) First Class it will get to you faster. Ground can take a week or longer, and USPS 2-5 days depending where you are.
would any of these be good for putting on liquid foundation in the same "light" way the 187 is good for???? I've read reviews saying their regular ones aren't full enough to be good for liquids...
i mean obviously at this price they're not going to be nearly as good, but i hate that cakey look and i like how the 187 looks, so i need something better than something closer to the 190.... I'm so new at this :(

MAC 180 is a face and body buffer which is super super dense. the duo fiber is not as dense as the 180. If you're looking for a brush for mineral foundation, the 180 is probably better as its a buffer brush. The duo fiber is a stippling brush.

Of the Duo Fiber brushes which do you prefer? The Black Duo Fiber Stippling Brush or the Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler? I'm not sure which one to get =P
oooh good one Wannabe - I like the BLACK because of the longer handle, but I like the PINK as the shorter bristle and thicker synthetic white bristles makes it denser than the black one.
the black one - i like a little weight on my face brushes. The pink are a little on the light side. And the longer bristles for me somehow gives better application.

hey califas - the white fibers are synthetic on the Duo Fibers. There are no differences in the material itself, just some differences in the amount of bristles that results to the density of the brush. The more fibers, the denser, the more it applies product on the skin.
depend son which brush - some are even softer. Like the foundation brushes are so much softer than mac's 190. the stipplers are softer than mac's 187. the Badgers - wow, I dont think Ive had such soft, yet dense, brushes like those.
I'm a devoted MAC 187 user. its my one and only mac brush at this time and the one i could not live without. after watching your videos, i'm thinking of buying a second cheaper one. you pointed out that the pink duo fiber brush has more white fibers. Do you think that the extra fibers give a better finish than the black brush that has less?
hey Cory - Yes, I bought the brushes. And you're right, people can have different views on things depending on how they are acquired. So I purchased the brushes, so that way I can say what I wanted to them.

And I contact the seller. They told me I can not return them. And another angle brush, when I washed it, the color of the hairs are still coming out. Not recommends it.

Hi Koren, I have cheap brushes and I'm looking to get better ones, so I have a couple of questions about these. 1. My current brush hairs fall out all the time and there will be hairs sticking out of the tip when I go to apply my eyeshadow - will this happen with these Coastal Scents brushes? And 2. Are these actually good brushes comparable in quality to.. MAC or Dior brushes or will I get what I pay for?

hey Jessica - you will get shedding at first on the alrger brushes. Much like brand brushes like MAC or Dior, they do shed the first few washes. The CS brushes are great alternative if you have your heart set on Dior or MAC, go for that too. So far many have acquired these brushes since my review and made their own review videos, and frm what ive seen mostly positive reviews.

hey koren whats the difference with USPS first class mail & FDX ground mail. cuz im about to buy the brushes but then i noticed that USPS first class mail is cheaper by like 8bucks. LOL this question is so off from make up tips or anything but omg i needa get educated on this! please & thank you

hey cindy- FDX is FedEx (Federal Express). Go for USPS (US Postal Service) First Class it will get to you faster. Ground can take a week or longer, and USPS 2-5 days depending where you are.

i mean obviously at this price they're not going to be nearly as good, but i hate that cakey look and i like how the 187 looks, so i need something better than something closer to the 190.... I'm so new at this :(

the makeup is actually pretty good. I definitely want to see more vivid wild colors from their line, Im sure they will. But for now, what ever they have are quite nice!

I know its hard to compare, but how is the pink duofiber in comparison to the mac 180?

MAC 180 is a face and body buffer which is super super dense. the duo fiber is not as dense as the 180. If you're looking for a brush for mineral foundation, the 180 is probably better as its a buffer brush. The duo fiber is a stippling brush.

Of the Duo Fiber brushes which do you prefer? The Black Duo Fiber Stippling Brush or the Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler? I'm not sure which one to get =P

oooh good one Wannabe - I like the BLACK because of the longer handle, but I like the PINK as the shorter bristle and thicker synthetic white bristles makes it denser than the black one.

the black one - i like a little weight on my face brushes. The pink are a little on the light side. And the longer bristles for me somehow gives better application.

In regards to the duo fiber stipling brush (I think that what's you said) what is the difference between the white fibers? Like, what are pros/cons

hey califas - the white fibers are synthetic on the Duo Fibers. There are no differences in the material itself, just some differences in the amount of bristles that results to the density of the brush. The more fibers, the denser, the more it applies product on the skin.

depend son which brush - some are even softer. Like the foundation brushes are so much softer than mac's 190. the stipplers are softer than mac's 187. the Badgers - wow, I dont think Ive had such soft, yet dense, brushes like those.

I'm a devoted MAC 187 user. its my one and only mac brush at this time and the one i could not live without. after watching your videos, i'm thinking of buying a second cheaper one. you pointed out that the pink duo fiber brush has more white fibers. Do you think that the extra fibers give a better finish than the black brush that has less?

I have a long standing history of buying from kathy and steve and my reviews would be very different on some brushes!

If you have a comment regarding your experience using these brushes, most people would be interested hearing it.
But to suggest something is awry here because enkore positively reviewed a product, is going too far. Its rude to insinuate such a thing.
Most people know these brushes arent top of the line. But many viewers including fledgling MUAS (and regular folks like me) are looking
for viable alternatives to expensive, high end makeup brushes ( mac).
I dont understand the controversy.

im not suggesting mac products are not worth the expense, i am merely saying some of mac products are not affordable for me at this time.

thank you so much for doing all your videos. i love them all! since you know so much about brushes, could you tell me what you think about the studio gear ones? i was at ulta recently and a salesperson told me they had a lifetime warranty (at least at ulta, idk about other stores) so even though the studio gear ones are expensive, with the lifetime warranty it seems like a good deal. and they are so soft :) so i just wanted to see what your opinion is. thanks again for all your videos!!

I tried to order two of the pink deluxe 7pc travel sets and they are out of stock. It does not allow you to back order it! Can you please tell Coastal Scents to let us back order, so we can get the product! I'll forget about it, so we need to be able to purchase it and get it when it comes in!!!

Great review! I think since I'm not a makeup artist or even someone who wears makeup every day, these are GREAT for me because I always feel guilty splurging on expensive products that are really more than someone like me needs.
