I've always liked the three-quarter military bust with spear. Pity that Justinian I apparently didn't like it and made his image completely frontal.
Also, what happens to the coinage after Leo III? The coins of the Seven Usurpations (Justinian II - Leo III) have a certain elegance in them, but after that the Imperial busts become completely linear and flat.
These coins are the best reflection of the Empire's strength through the ages, even during the Arab onslaught, as these were not devalued until the 12th century. The Empire's fiscal system and powerful economy account for a large part for the Empire's resilience and recovery, and these golden coins are the best evidence for this.
My mother comes from the island of Cyprus. She owns a byzantine coin which was found on her great grandfather's farm in a jar. I would like to know how if you can connect me with someone who can identify it and it's value. They called it a "Constantnatiko" (coin of constantine). I am not sure if it actually dates back to the days of Constantine.

...I happen to own sth. pretty alike..., brother.
I guess it's just another sample of Greeks'/Rums'
Byzantine/Rum heritage across the ages...
God bless Greek/Rum Cyprus+Cypriots,

into His Light!

the coin of 'Constantine VII' is actually a coin of Constantine VIII, who ruled from 1025 AD
