Excellent Video! I have Axis Longboards as well, and I really recommend changing your beaters. Get the Axis sonic hammers (I think the Iron Cobra CB90Fs work too). They're lighter and put off pretty much the same sound, I loved the change. Keep drumming dude!

@ajhjazz87 A good endurance workout is playing Blackwater Park by Opeth. It's not that fast, but I can assure you that you'll get tired since you're not used to playing double bass. Opeth has quite a few jazzy elements in their songs, so you might feel at least a little at home^^

Given context, or even played alone, anything you create says something, intellectual or superficial, and whether you want it to or not. Therefore, whether metal drummers choose to express emotion with the blastbeat, they almost certainly instill some emotions within the music and the listeners, which is to say they add the emotional element to both. This is far from just 'exhibition'.
