@CMDRFandragon Remember, this was the early days of the Total War Franchise, so the damned thing was broken as all hell in hindsight. Geishas could technically'fail' but it just equated to a text screen appearing saying "Your geisha could not get close to the target." and then you could just keep trying until you succeed or a ninja gets a lucky shot at her.

Well geisha can be killed by other geisha or high rank ninja.

When you have geisha in game It means you won the game beacuse she will try to assassinate enemy until she succeed.

So its on of wrong things in 1st Shogun, also AI cheats at the end making lot of soldiers but poor quality.

Geishas can fail to kill their target in a given turn, but do not die if they fail like ninja do, and will continue their efforts on the next turn. They will continue to pursue their target until they succeed, are reassigned to another target, or are killed by another geisha, or by ninja. There are still a few gurus at the totalwar.org forum if you want to debate this.
