I am currently testing to see if I have cushions disease, they gave me a big plastic container, and I am to collect urine for 24hrs starting tommorrow. Im not at all nervous, If I have it at least I have an answer, My life has change dramatically the past few years and I just want an answer. I even have the ugly hump on my back.
I had a small pituitary tumour, was treated at the Radcliffe,Oxford (UK). After two unsucessful operations (tumour cells left and resulted to a regrowth) I had to then have radiotheraphy and disable the whole Pituarity. At the age of 18, this has been a nightmare and I have to take HRT for the rest of my life.
I have no ACTH high prolactin levels, Low testosterone, supposedly have addisons disease I have a normal thyroid hormone except for a high t3 level. I am so sick and I need help. I have no life and am not able to function normally. I am on so much steroid in my body from taking hydrocortisone that all my joints are going bad. I am continually gaining weight although I do not change my eating habits. HELP!!
My health has progressively worsened over the past 8 years. All my joints hurt.Muscles are weak etc and I have just been diagnosed with a pituitary tumour.I am so happy to finally know what is wrong with me.
im just here trying to find out about it. i have avascular necrosis of the bone and my testostorone level was only 75 when tested. they doctor said its supposed to be between 400 and 800 also i get sores on my body the doctor said its ingrown hairs. does anybody know about this and the symtoms or blood work and test needed to be done? write me please. god bless.
you need to go to real endocrinologist that has experience with treating pituitary tumors. You need to get an MRI with & without contrast. The doc should check your free and total testosterone , tsh, t4 & t3, FSH, LH, IGF-1 for starters. Good luck & god bless you
interesting to see other cases of this. I myself was diagnosed with an pituitary tumor at age 16,
though the surgery went well, my pituitary gland never regained functionality so im stuck with taking medication and doing injections of testosterone every 2 weeks. my new problems, essentially corto-adreno failure caused cirrhosis of the liver, and thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia and Splenomagaly. fun fun :)
What she had was not stress, it was a very real tumor causing her body to produce too much ACTH, a hormone that tells the body to produce cortisol. Yes, it is the same stuff that gets produced when someone is stressed, but in order to cause the effects Cushing's does, it has to be a tumor.
I had a pituitary tumor removed at the age of 22, but this was when they had to remove my nose and all that fun stuff just to get to it...it really was not my idea of a good time! But those surgeons saved my butt and I'm still here thanks to their skill: Dr. Liston, Dr. Gregory, Dr. Abid...my infinite thanks!

@karuspery You gonna go for the surgery through the nose? Can things get worse from there once it's taken out?

abundance of cortisol hormone is also related with great deal of stress in a person`s life.

She is fortunate it was only 7 years. I begin to ask questions in the late 80s because I had read an article in JAMA......yet they dismissed it.
It was not till 2003 that it was finally addressed. I lost my pituitary and am now also in adrenal failure.
BTW the doctor who finally diagnosed it was a naturopathic physician, not an MD.
