Lincoln actually just wanted to preserve the union, recognized the south as a small rebellion, and predicted the civil war as a 90 day war. When it turned out to be more than 90 days they needed a reason so they used slavery. Lincoln could have cared less about slavery, he owned slaves.

Regardless at the time slavery wasn't in the Constitution so therefore the issue was up to the states, the North also did more to the South than just try to stop slavery, look at the compromise of 1850 and previous bills before that. Regardless at the time slavery wasn't in the Constitution so therefore the issue was up to the states, the North also did more to the South than just try to stop slavery, look at the compromise of 1850 and previous bills before that. I hate slavery and white supremacists but the civil war was fought over greed from the North, just like all the Confederate generals said that slavery will die overtime.

This is such a great video. As a Southerner (from Tennessee), it is our history that is so tainted. Of course, we did lose the war, but it was a war of independence (just like the Revolutionary War not 100 years before the "Civil War"). Even if the CSA had won, why does the North seem to think we'd still be enemies?? The US and UK are the closest allies, but the US fought a bloody, awful war for independence at one time against the UK. BTW, the Stars And Bars was a battle flag..not national

I was polite in every way like I was raised kill em with courtesy, smile and be polite even to rudest of people.
People in Ohio judged me on my accent they didnt know me and they had allready decided not to like me.
I have never been so insulted by people I never met.
Never encountered a man who will reject a handshake.

Five of my seven Confederate ancestors deserted when west Tennessee fell they deserted when the thing they were fighting for was lost

Either way I didnt find much difference in standard of living or quality in tv lol other then the people there were rude and unlikable.

The Confederate flag bothers me because it represents a time when states committed treason against the U.S. Constitution. When you fly that flag you are basically saying that you are either proud of that fact or that you actually wish the South would do it again. In either case it is wrong imo. I'm not claiming that is what you personally feel when you fly it...but that IS what you are saying. That said, I realize some people don't understand what they are doing and I get over it.

The states were fighting against a country in which they were equally represented. The most shameful idea that the Confederate flag symbolizes is the ultimate failure of democracy. The moment that talking ceased to work, and the shooting started. That isn't something to be proud of.

That's not true. The southern states left because they were no longer being represented. If you read their reasons of secession they all talk of how their voices are consistently drowned out by their northern counterparts in the government. The north was receiving all the economic and political favors and using the south as a colonial cash cow to subsidize their industrial economies. So they voted and democratically seceded to form their own union of self-governance.

The average Confederate soldier was 19 years old, too young and too poor to personally own slaves. He was fighting for simple reasons; to defends his home and family from an invader. The average white Union soldier (the majority) was 22 and had no interest in fighting and dying to free a single slave (whom they frequently detested). Their opinions don't matter to you.

He makes a stupid remark that the American flag has more slavery associated with it than the Star and Bars flag. The North abolished slavery well before 1861 when the Star and Bars were created. It was a flag created to steal federal owned land, the Confederates lost and to the victors go the spoils of war. If the federal govt. says get rid of the flag, you fucking get rid of it.
