  • These guys made me wanna be a Paramedic!!

  • damn!....how'd they tube him sitting up like that?....I missed that part in class..

  • Where's the engine? Cardiac arrest would get more than just a paramedic squad.

  • Pro

  • That old lady is a bitch.

  • That old lady is a bitch.

  • With the exception of NJ (where as far as I know medics still call the doc for everything. Most paramedics operate under standing orders and can call a doctor on the radio if needed. Most of the time the radio is used to give report.

  • Do paramedics still get advice from the doctor over the radio now days?

  • @Fantome1989 Yes. It's called Online medical control. There procedural orders:Offline. And Physician standing orders: Online

  • CLEAR!!! lol srry caps :P

  • Technology and medicine have come a long way since the 70's.

  • sounds like music from Batman LOL

  • The housewife should get her head out of the fucking clouds

  • can you upload episodes ?

  • Idiovent. rhythm: Pulse: YES (Strong)

    NOT Me.

I hope my PQRSTU is normal.

  • He was in V-tach for over an hour! no way.

  • @mrkrabz1991 he probably was maybe SVT for a while cause you wll hardly ever see V-Tach for over 4 minutes until V-Fib sets in. nce its in u got like 2 20 seconds to start doing something before the dreaded asystole END RHYTHM SETS IN. Once that happens usually nothing revses that deadly rhthm.

  • @mrkrabz1991 yeah he'd be dead if he was in V-tach for that long......OR maybe God DID save him! haha

  • I sparked a conscience guy once in 1990. He was sick for about an hour - It was at his daughters wedding. Unstable V-Tach with a rate of about 240 bpm. Ashen/sweaty/puked/Somewhat ALoC... Orders were to cardiovert, no time for sedation. He lived, but I bet his chest hurt for infinity + tomorrow.

  • important to notice.......the incredible sax solo.....

  • @efd996mk Billy May (from "The Mod Squad" and radio's "The Stan Freberg Show" handled the music and was known for his "crazy" tempo to his arrangements. It beat the Frank Comstock nonsense on "Adam-12" and later "Dragnet" episodes.

  • Which episode is this from ?

  • @forhisglory723

    It's from The Old Engine

  • Anyone know what episode this is from ?

  • Get the drug box, biophone, datascope and defibrillator!!!

  • That man will probably die because of that woman's stupidity. That's not the demonstration of faith when faith calls on those to prescribe common sense and a belief in the truth.

  • I absolutely love this show. Some of the diagnosis were wrong, but who cares!

  • The housekeeper must be a fool!

  • @747400fan Yeah your Right She Should have called 911 once He said "I'm not Feeling Well!"

    Some Housekeeper she is!

Tell you the Truth I hate her!

  • RTV is channel 62.

  • Could someone please tell me what episode this clip comes from?

  • it was great fire dept show. I have the first five season on dvd. The last season should be out next year. They dont make shows like this anymore

  • Which episode does this come from?

  • I loved watching this show when I was younger. I was sad to see that it's no longer in syndication. I wish the full episodes were available online, to people living outside the US.

  • Emergency is available on RTV (retrotelevision) on DirecTV Satellite or Dish network. And may be available on local cable channels. If its not, ask your local cable provider.

  • I live in the UK. The series isn't available here.

  • On Direct TV what channel # is RTV?

  • I loved this show so much as a kid that I became an EMT myself. Watching these old clips makes me laugh at how far we've come!Wouldn't trade this career for any in the world!

  • There were many times when they said Vfib when the EKG shows Sinus Brady or Vtac or something other than the symptoms stated. Creative license is understood, but generally, they had it right, but there were some short commings with this and most shows.

Keep in mind, this show has the destinction of changing the world. Paramedic and ALS programmes globally can be attribited to this show.

  • A good show which inspired me in my profession as a medic. Thing have changed but the basic theory is there, good pre hospital care. Yes there were bloopers to the medical professional, but, it was new.

  • He "keeled over" an hour ago? He wouldn't have survived! This is so silly, and medically incorrect. However, I'll suspend realism because I know how much the fans love this program. It did inspire a lot of people to become a Paramedic.

  • When they got there he was in perfusing VTach. This is plausible. He did not go pulseless until they arrived.

  • We're talking poor tissue perfusion, sustained V tach with an acute MI, loss of consciousness, then V fib, and he's out in the field?! It's OK, it's a fun show that had a lot of wonderful memories for folks :-D

  • STILL MY FAVORITE SHOW

  • This is a great show, Very accurate to treatments still being used today. This show should be back in syndication, but noone cares about paramedics until they need them :/

  • It is on Retro tv network(RTN) here in cen fla.

  • Which episode is this from?

  • yep the show is awsome!! i hope one day to become eith a ER physician, or cardioligist...

ive been studying med since i was about knee-high,im 13 now.. what i dopnt understand is why they didnt get a ambu bag started, or a trach tube connected to a ambu and pump ASAP..

    Guy almost died!!

  • Thegrizzly1, good catch. High flow o2, good ventilation would've been nice Did we do a recheck of the vitals? What kind of medical history does he have if any? Meds? Did he maybe od on his metoprolol that he takes for his hypertension? Why are we not asking more questions? You're patient is sick so treat him. Stop calling the doc for every little thing. The one medic knew to push atropine for symptomatic bradycardia so why didn't he? No more of this show for me. Good luck on your career!

  • "Stop calling the doc for every little thing."

Back then, there were no standing orders. It was all online medical control. Since EMS was in its infancy at the time, they made sure that any invasive procedure done by a paramedic was approved by a supervising doctor.

"Why are we not asking more questions?"

Obviously they weren't being trained to ask for SAMPLE and OPQRST back then. I wonder when that was introduced?

  • i like this show it the best

  • I like to go back and watch the shows and see what mistakes were done. In this one they put down an EOA. It is not indicated in this pt. In one episode a pt. was intubated using the right hand to hold the blade. For the most part they were right on with the treatment modalities of the day. I became a paramedic firefighter and nurse because of this show.

  • I'm also a medic/firefighter because of the show...never missed an episode, every Saturday right after Lawrence Welk.

  • I think most people who are in fire or EMS today are in because of this show. This was way before my time but it's still an influence to me.

  • I work as an EMT and i had never seen this show till i started and wow it make me really respect how far EMS has come

  • 170 pounds? I don't think so, lol.....

  • That show ended up being the single greatest recruiting tool for EMS and fire ever devised.

    Thanks for posting!

  • dude, this is awesome!!! keep it up i love E!
