  • want to remain sad?

    don't see this:

    watch?v=sKrai1dQmgw

  • Marto... knew you when you were growing up and still a great guy.... R. I. P. ....and let us all team up and take our Kenya back from the hands of crime.

  • what about closing that tunnel at both ends?

  • evidence is littered in all those tunnels to give leads!!! nikii we have to start from somewhere, we work with what we have at the moment

  • Let's take our country back from murderers, thieves and robbers. Private well trained, and more professional armed security can add security to the residential areas and free up the police to conduct investigations. The cops should also rid the criminal element from their ranks as I believe the reluctance to conduct full and thorough investigations stems from the fact that there is complicity. If the govt doesnt pay heed, the citizens may be forced to resort to vigilantism and mob justice.

  • I remember when my late father was attacked by thugs when he was driving though Kapsabet. He was knocked around, his glasses knocked of and that disabled him for a while. Somehow, a good Samaritan came to his aid. My kid brother has also been victims.Point is Kenya's criminal justice system, Police Detectives , poverty, impunity and a range of other issues are a major setback especially when justice for victims like Martin, my father, and others is not forthcoming. Violence it seems ni kawaida.

  • wolololooloo!!! marto, yaani i knew you from days of ridgy and chilling with akina ma bros!!! R.I.P.!!! gone too soon!!! fire burn those boomboklat thugs!!!!

  • thats very true, we should hire more police than the mps

  • it's not about hiring more police. When poverty rate in Kenya is at 60%, %0% are uneducated.....crime will prevail. police won't stop it

  • @goo1358 The overty doesn't explain the unwarranted killing of innocents. There are other more poor countries than Kenya where there is no senseless killing like this. Why not steal without hurting anyone? I think the embrace of pop culture, the lure of big city materialism, mass rural to urban migration and a non-professional, corrupt police and leadership in Kenya have conspired to wipe out the lawabiding element of our society. The implications are scary for our future. We need strong leaders

  • @Julianbts...how can you stop crime in a country where unemployment rate is 60%. these guys will steal and kill for food, money. ILLETERACY=UNEMLOYMENT=POVERTY=CRIME. Rich, developed countries have a high literacy rate while poor countries like Kenya and their African counterparts have high levels of illeteracy. IT's simple common sense. The more educated you are the better the leaders you will choose. ILLITERACY=POVERTY= HIGH CRIME ask southafricans, colombians, mexicans, kenyans..etc

  • I get ur point with illiteracy and the correlation to crime rates but still the staggering crime in places like S.Africa and Mexico or some parts of Kenya is more complex than you want to convince us. Did you know Mexico's economy is about 10th largest worldwide? How do you explain the relatively low crime rates in some very impoverished African countries with a very high number of "illiterate" citizens. Tanzania is less developed than Kenya but with a crime rate that is very low compared to us.

  • the only reason you and i are not stealing (Blue collar crime) is because you can read, write and have a basic education to survive in this world. If Kenya made education until high school mandatory like they do in the US and give loans for people to go college. Crime rate will drop. That i can bet my life on it. We choose useless leaders in Kenya bcoz the voters are uneducated, poor. It's easier to take advantage of an illiterate person coz of ignorance

  • There is definitely something going on in places like Kenya, S.Africa, Mexico etc and that is a vast disparity btwn rich and poor, coupled with a relatively large segment of the population that is illiterate. This, and the high rates of corruption in the elected officials and importantly, the police is what in my view is the cause of the spike in crime. I am pretty sure Kenya is well off than many other countries both in GDP & literacy but yet compared to them, our crime rates are very worrying.

  • @julianbts.... have you ever been to tanzania? i have and Tanzanian call Kenyans wahuni...they view us the same we view Nigerians.

South Africa has high crime bcoz the white denied those blacks education. Those blacks had babies, then grandbabies. No education thus the only jobs they can do is labour which is not = to their population so they steal, and rape. Illegal, uneducated Mexicans cross to come to the US in droves

  • @Julianbts

Crime has nothing to do with litracy. I know people who have no education but have values they treasure...they will not kill or steal.

The intelligentsia and ruling Elites in Africa are well known for stealing ,killing for money and power.

  • You obviously missed my point ceteris. I was not implying that poverty causes crime. And I do in fact agree with you that the biggest thieves in Africa are the ruling elites. I was comparing the crime Kenya to other much poorer countries in Africa to show the point that saying poverty is the cause of crime in Kenya is stupid. Other poorer countries have lower crime rates. I wanted to say that the big difference btwn rich & poor in Kenya could be encouraging crime by the 'dispossesed' poor. Ok?

  • But there is also a dangerous tunnel in Globe Cinema rounderabout. I remember how a girl's mobile was snatched. When she pursued the small boy to the tunnel she was gang raped. This poverty is threatening the stability of the country.

  • Add more of the men in blue - not mps. One mp's pay is a decent pay for 30 policemen. The police/wananchi ratio in Kenya is like a suicidal joke. If we have more and disciplined police patrols in Kenya, the crime rate would go down.

  • Robert is a fabulous journalist I like his dynamism in reporting full of imagination, creativity and passion for reporting. Back to the bad guys the police should not spare them, use live bullets if they are lucky to duck you bet they will think twice before they make a come back.

  • This is in the middle of city centre in Nairobi. Is there any place that is safe in Kenya? Gosh even when your car breaks down you are not safe. We need CCTVs everywhere and for the police to do their jobs instead of hiding and showing up after the crime has been commited

  • @K if it ever happens to me or yu STAY PUT ON THE ROAD don't move on the side....until help arrives! Yapps!

  • I hear you but am afraid they will come get me and dragg me to the tunnel. What these highway needs is a stationed police car on the side of the road, so that incase motorists breakdown they can be there fast enough to make sure he/she is safe before recovery arrives. I have seen it in motorways here in the UK, you don't go a mile without seeing a highway patrol car.

  • Kiraithe boys will convert that 999 squad car to an illegal toll station...well as they say in Las Vegas either way yu....I give up!

  • @karuitha Just watch Nation TV Investigates. These thugs steal your corner lights in broad day light. But Hassan Omar and Muthoni Wanyeki says they should not be short on sight. These animal lovers are about to tell me not to shave my pubic hair if I get lice because this is wild life. We cannot rid Kenya crime if we do not shoot to kill the offenders our jails are to small to take the capacity encouraged by human rights activists.

  • This is not the first time it happened, remember the infamous chokora who used to do their feacal intimidatory trade?seal the fucking tunnels with strong meshwires and clear the bloody bush!!!!!

  • Good initiative Robert

  • This is a Scene of Crime. It's beyond me that no police CID been there b4. Fingerprints dusted here might link a smart cop to a loitering suspect say in Industrial Area Prison with such a crime! OCS and CIDs will not solve crimes siting behind big desks and talking like Coca Cola Executives...get out and ask questions! No wonder ur so fat!

  • @siasabora Tell me about it. When will Kenya police put aside negligence and get off slumber? While the rest of the world uses forensic DNA technology, which has had an incredible impact helping unsolved crimes, our boys are busy pocketing bribes and our gov begging. There is tonnes of evidence in that tunnel. The police won't even need to open fire to apprehend those criminals.

  • I wz thinking maybe Robert here should seek a second job....a CSI Nairobi!

  • True, i also think that they should invest in surveillance equipment(cameras) on hot spots and establish a Rapid Response Highway Unit incase one is in trouble.
