Your voice is very smooth and beautiful. It does sound a bit pop-ish, though. I have to sing this for my voice lessons. I hope your singing career goes well!
Very interressant indeed ! I'm always pleasily (?) surprised to see how americans can sing de mélodies françaises ! Just something that miss quite : try to hear some good french singers in their fine years (not so easy i think... ^^), as Camille Mauranne. It will help you to get de "style", or the "french touch" (ahah). You'll get your mind on words as "extase" or the last "chanteuse" : there is some things to do ! (more-and-less-but-why, that's all in the mind)
And you're only in high school? Your voice is extremely beautiful already! I can only imagine how rich and gorgeous it's going to sound once it's fully matured!
OMG, you're voice is very beautiful for this song. But yes I would agree the only thing that is holding you back is the French. You're singing it as if it were Italian, or Latin. Not completely, but I can hear that confusion in your voice for that certain language. Study French pronunciation and honestly I think you'd be AMAZING at this song. And seriously don't get me wrong at all, you have a WONDERFUL voice!! :D
I was searching "Mandoline" by Debussy but I get a great pleasure with your voice and careful recitation of poetic text! I will recommend this video to my students ;-)
Your greatest ennemy is French. Keep working because you have the right voice for it and your sound is full of promises. Go to France for a couple of years,it should help you a lot!!
@vivegedda Aw, my French diction wasn't THAT bad. But you're right, I do need to go there. I'm hopefully going to study French intensely this summer to prepare myself for that hypothetical trip.
Nonetheless, also have to say that this video is from more than a year ago, so everything has improved a lot. :)
Beautifully sung, you have a great voice, and good diction. Work on your French vowels though, they're a little Italianate at the moment....but keep up the good work!
Your voice is exquisite, and I cant wait to hear what it matures to into 10 years!! Furthermore, you have inspired me to LOVE this piece so much as to study it myself. Bravo!
Awesome. You rate up there with the great recordings of this chanson. I'm orchestrating this as well as some other Fauré pieces, and I'll DEFINITELY be back to watch this again! Keep up the great work!
Very nice singing, and also some unusually fine accompanying. Your voice is very well-suited to the French style here: light and crisp without being too thin. Diction is clear. Great job, and keep looking for new ways to bring the song to life.
@cantseetheforest Thank you very much! Matt (the accompanist) is extremely talented, and I commend you for noticing that. I love his expression, and I feel truly privileged to work with him.
Just wanted to let you know that even though I'm using Debussy's version of this song in my own voice lessons, your pronunciation of the French proved an excellent guide for me as I am working through this piece. You have a truly lovely voice and wonderful expression. Thanks so much!
wow--absolutely beautiful! I was searching for a recording of this piece, and when I clicked on this video and saw how young you looked, I almost clicked away! what a pleasant surprise.. you're very talented.. your singing seems effortless.. keep it up:)

Get rid of the glides, this is classical not pop! Great tone though, I'm sure you've improved since this performance.
