  • Just wonderful jim!! Nice! Is that tom jones in the background, btw?

  • Hi Jim, great as usual !...one question though; are you "plugged in"...cos I certainly don't get that echoing sound with my harmonica....Keep on, keepin' on.

  • It's unplugged Thomas, but with some reverb added using sound editing software.

  • This is an interesting variation on the song -- I like the subtle changes in the melody. Nicely done!

  • Thanks very much!

  • Mary Black does a lovely version of this as well =)

  • That was lovely Jim. I was wondering how many harps and guitars you had. Interesting what you said about it sounding like an accordion. i did the same thing. I have a Tombo Band deluxe and about eleven diatonics some of them tuned to Paddy Richter to play trad irish music. thanks as always.

  • Getting back to harp parts (cause I started to learn it lately and can't handle harp part) which key is your harp ? Do you have tabs to harp ? and is it sounding different, what kind of harp it is ? Thanks

  • Hi Steeve

Harp on this is a Hohner XB-40 (Extreme Bend) in Low D. I bought it for session playing & to sound like an accordian when playing chords. A standard diatonic in D is pitched very high. I don't do or use tab but will post you the hole numbers after working them out..

  • Many thanks to you in advance. I'm already work with my E harp with a capo on 4 and your help will greatly be appreciated.

    Regards

  • Have tried to post details here but message not saved for some reason, so will send you an e-mail...

  • Great one for sure. Cool and simple with beautiful harmonica parts.*****

    Steeve

  • Thanks again Steeve - much appreciated.

  • Way to go Jim! Sounds wonderful. Just noticed this one tonight and I think ive listened to it 3 times already. Im certain you'd make both the young 1964 Bob Dylan and the current Dylan very proud-

  • Bless you for that Paul - I look forward to you pickin' this one too soon!

  • Hard song but nice cover!!

  • Merci Beaucoup Simon!

  • Very nice Jim! Let's do a duet next Whitby!

    Lisette

  • Whitby is a long time away; we could do it in the Spring..... xx

  • Thats a real special song Jim, and you have done a real special job on it. You are a master finger picker my friend. I'm still working on GFTNC and after another 10,000 practices I might get it :)

  • Stick with it mate - you'll get there!!

  • Very nice Jim, I don't remember that one. Would be a nice one to do a lesson on.

    Kenny

  • Slipped under my radar too, but thanks to Jason here on Youtube I caught up with it...

  • Love your version of this one Jim! You definitely made this one your own. 5*****

  • Thanks Jason; I saw your video and fell in love with this song!

  • I'm not likely to inflict that on anybody. I sing like a frog.

  • Like a frog eh? - I remember back in '63 my Dad upsetting my sensibilities by saying Bob Dylan had a voice "like a saw going through a rusty nail". OK - he ain't Bing Crosby, but he knows how to put a song over...

  • I heard an Opera singer on PBS one time talking about his singing influences and he mentioned Dylan, not the voice as such but the phrasing, timing and intonation.

  • Just started playing this myself, very pretty song.

  • Me too - got the chords yesterday, and sang it to myself three times before switching the camera on. I look forward to your version here on Youtube!
