My geribls love their sand bath, I use chinchilla sand, I would use sand too because dust can sometimes be harmful to their respiratory systems, very cute though!!

I've got a high bowl (or they will spill(?) it out) that I've got sand in (is that what you mean with dust?I'm Swedish and well... is dust the same thing as sand?Isn't dust like... the thing you get when you don't clean?)However, I have the bowl in their aquarium all the time, I just change the sand every second day and also wash the bowl. (Or it will stink! ;)) My gerbils love it, they bath and...do their needs... ;P

@longhornsluva From the reading I've done you should look for chinchilla sand, but not chinchilla dust. Dust can be too fine and cause respiratory issues. They'll also want to use it for waste, so you might limit the tendency for that by only keeping the bowl in with them for something like 15-30 minutes.

Well I use Chinchilla dust from any old pet shop. But no you don't actually need to give it to them, however they do enjoy it! :D

What type of chinchillas are those? My friend has a chinchilla (popper), yet his tail looks all bushy, like a squirrel. Also, I dont have a chinchilla, but I do have 2 rats, and 2 Russian Dwarf black hamsters (rats are Athena and Zena, hamsters are Duke and Daisy)
