Leopards are much more sturdy and heavily muscled than a Cheetah, allowing them to perform those amazing feats of strength carrying a prey animal as big, or bigger than, themselves up a tree to stash for dining on at their convenience.

Like many things, it's a trade-off -- a cheetah's anatomy makes it possible to run and cut at phenomenal speeds, while a leopard's prevents it from doing the same.

If those hyenas didn't tear that cheetah all to pieces and eat it like they're eating that gazelle, they would have at least inflicted some degree of injury, and any injury to a cheetah that keeps it from running and cutting at incredible speeds pretty much condemns that cheetah to death by starvation -- or else at the teeth and claws of a much slower predator.
