you can leave the grey wire hooked so the ps3 can control it when you have the patentiometer turned down.. thats how mine is

they are 120x120x12mm fans that have dba at 18 and lowers and this fan you mod it with sounds like a delta 6900RPM fan , omg.

i did this it kept it cool but it is so noisy i didnt buy anything for speed control mod i just took a knob out of a rock band guitar it took a minute to figure out how to hook it up tho

With a 200K pot. It will also let you adjust the speed manually.

I found some on ebay pretty cheap 5 for $5 with free shipping. Search for B200K.

my 60gb model needed more resistance than 200k. i used a 100k pot and added a 220k resistor to it.

how can i i drop it

drop the voltage to about 1.2 volts and it will spin about twice as fast as factory and be quite enough to still keep the ps3 in the same room.
