  • What an epic masterpiece!!!!

  • Dat ending

  • 3:55

It's fun to charter an accountant

    And sail the wide accountancy,

To find, explore the funds offshore

And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy!

It can be manly in insurance.

    We'll up your premium semi-annually.

    It's all tax deductible.

    We're fairly incorruptible,

We're sailing on the wide accountancy!

  • Thing is, only Gilliam was actually involved with this one, and he directed

  • That last line about modern theories about the shape of the world being disastorous has travelled well.

  • Most Hostile finacial take over yet

  • i want to sail a building

  • I love when the pirates come back in the middle of meaning of life!

  • Best ending ever!

  • 2 people aren't wearing enough hats.

  • scribble awaaaaaaaaay!!

  • This is the most awesome thing ever imagined by man.

  • Matt Frewer!

  • so wonderful! I have a big toothless grin on my face with chuckles slipping out...as I was a victim, too...harr.

  • Could they please sail to Wall Street!

  • This is what finance looks like.

  • Anyone know where I can download the awesome Accountancy Song from this?

  • Where's the Singaporean Navy when you need them?

  • Hey! Its Max Headroom!

  • What i wouldn't give to see this all happen for real.

  • Im going to lucid dream this

  • It chronicles the devastation that the skull and bones society has wrought upon western civilization!

  • Arrr.

  • at first i thought 'this is a commentary on the ruthless nature of business' but then i thought 'ROFL old men whacking people over the head with stationary ! '

  • Is this how the credit crunch happened?

  • "The desperate... and reasonably violent men of the Crimson Permanent Assurance battled on."

  • The last guy left in the office looks like Conan O'Brien!!! lol

  • @legodude107: The last guy left is Matt Frewer, a.k.a., Max Headroom.

  • @legodude107: The last guy left is Matt Frewer, a.k.a., Max Headroom.

  • Someone has got to just give Gilliam a blank check to make an epic. Can't one of those rich corporate ceo's just admit that they make more money than they will ever be able to reasonably spend, and at least invest a few billion into a project with a little aesthetic merit?

  • You did the world a great service by uploading this. Thank you.

  • That song has the same melody as sit on my face :)

  • They fell off the edge of the world :(

  • this ...is...AWESOME!!!

  • I think the last business guy alive in this sketch is from the A-Team, i may be wrong though.

  • really? I thought it was matt frewer.

  • It is matt frewer - he must have reminded me of the guy who played Face in A-Team when I typed that first comment.

  • oh...well glad to have been proven right though. I read he was in this, but wasn't sure where.

  • That's Matt Frewer, he also stars in Eureka, where he plays the character of the hunter, but he didn't appear on A-Team.

  • This is my all time favorite short film

  • What in the HELL are you rambling about?

  • Don't tell people to be less creative. Leave boring work to every other Joe sweatsock i the industry. Creativity is worth more than money

  • I think he's being sarcastic.

  • fuck you man.

  • hahahaaaa - a true classic, I just love the work of Terry Gilliam

  • uff! I saw palin and gilliam - I know there's also Graham Chapman in it, as a clerk - but I didn't see him... oh well, I'll watch it again XD

  • ROSS! GET THE READOUTS!

  • Should do that with the bankers now!

  • "The Crimson Permanent Assurance" segment was filmed as if it were a completely separate project. Terry Gilliam got his own soundstage, crew and cast. This segment continued to expand because, according to Gilliam, nobody told him to stop.

  • this soundtrack is so awesome.

  • "NO NO not me!!"

"Go Go get out of the way"

  • It just goes to show how an epic soundtrack and dramatic narrative can make anything - ANYTHING - absolutely awesome.

  • Hostile takeover, lol

  • was that Matt Frewer? the one who jumped out the window??

  • Yes, it was =)

  • Yes, he was the one who yelled "Sh-t" and jumped out of the window. He also pulled a sword from his attache case and issued orders to the board members before the scene ended.

  • One of the best fighting-Scene in a Movie I know. Quite dramatic - and funny also.

  • I remember very few things about "The Meaning of Life." This, however, is one of the few things that I will never forget. I LOVE this skit.

  • Hard astern mr. Cullen, there's the Madoff.

    Let's give her a full broadside !

  • What we need 2day ;)) <3 python

  • Shit! (jumps out window)

  • No, old people suck, but THIS is awesome. Classic shit.

  • If you haven't started watching it I'd just like to welcome you to the middle of the film.

    ;-)

"Its fun, to charter an account, and

    to sail, the wide accountant-sea..."

  • This cost as much as the rest of the film!!

  • Old people are awesome.

  • That looked incredibly expensive

  • I love this sketch , especially when the Crimson Permanent Assurance is "sailing" through the destroyed ruins of the financial capital! So surreal, yet a work of genius.

    P.S Pirates are cool :D

  • do you like home invaders too?

  • This short always cheers me up after a long day in a cubicle. :)

  • Just Brilliant!!! the fight was an epic one.

  • Terry WAS american! In 2006 he obtained British citizenship as a protest against George W. Bush.

By the way: The Crimson Permanent Assurance is a masterpiece!

  • @JoTheSick - REALLY close, but technically not accurate. He was born in America in 1940, obtained dual citizenship in 1968, and renounced American citizenship in 2006 in protest against George Bush.

As punishment, he's only allowed to spend 30 days a year in the US (normally, Brits can spend 90 days with a proper visa). Our loss more than his, I think.

  • EA deserve for that kind of attack. The arrogant, they don't give a shit about needs of their customers. About support and so on. "Come on boys! ATTACK!"

  • Masterpiece

  • Very, very funny! I like the way the tea-lady becomes the pirate chief's moll!

  • Only the Brits would make something as ludicrous as a building that sales across the land :P An amazing short movie and I love the music score to this too, shame it's not available to buy. Terry sure is a great movie maker.

  • Its at the begining of the monty python: Meaning of life dvd if ya want it.

  • @corcaightwo And also on "Monty Python Sings".

  • @Hetoreyn Terry Gilliam is an American, actually. :)

  • @Hetoreyn hahaha well terry is tech. american and it was all his idea. amazing....absolutely amazing

  • @Hetoreyn He was also the only Python who was an American.

  • Just one of the best ever! Great song!

  • This must what has happened to our banks.

  • An amazing skit with a perfect ending, but the way they kill some of the buisness men is pretty grusome haha

  • relentless old insurance pirates. who'd have thought

  • "...Or so it would've been, if certain modern theories concerning the shape of the world, had not proved to be...disastrously wrong! xD.

  • I can't believe the last Exec who jumps is Matt Frewer. OMG he's so young...

  • but we can recognise him in a second ^^

  • For me, his chin and his voice gave it away.

  • why the british are the best at comedy...

  • Actually, Terry Gilliam's a Yank.

  • He's a British citizen now though!

  • amazingly good short.

Gotta love the attention to detail.

pause during close ups of the stuff written on the walls . you'll get some very good laughs.;)

  • X. Tortion, Inc.

  • Masterpiece

  • hahahaha awesome
