  • @fagalocious yeah I thought so too.. like.. heuh!? I don't know much about it but I've searched on google and I ound out that Sundanese means that it comes from West Java.. so it's another word/name for West Java

  • Excuse my ignorance, but I this a style of Indonesian gamelan music right? There are Balinese, Javanese, Sunda, etc styles?

  • You're right on the mark.

  • Thanks. I am so happy to explore other styles of Indonesian music.

  • that's fine, this is a Sundanese gamelan music style, which is part of Indonesia.

Other types of Indonesian gamelan music include Javanese, Balinese, Banjar, etc.

  • My fav Indonesian traditional music, the Sundanese. Others are too noisy for me.

  • True, this is not too noisy as well as not too dragging. It's just nice.

  • I love this music. Takes me back to when I was young visiting my Indonesian family in Jakarta - you heard this song on the streets with the peddlars playing their flute.

I agree with akulupalagi. I am 1/4 Javanese from my father's side but I feel more Indonesian than Malay eventho I come from Singapore. Looking forward to touring the Java island with my dad in 2 years' time.

  • i think,, indonesian will never count religion as a big deal for them.. they can live peacefully with 6 official religions and around thousands beliefs..

  • @akulupalagi : I'm agree with you that we already given example for live peace in harmony no matter the religion is...and so many belief..

  • @akulupalagi Most definately, I live in Indonesia part of my youth and many holidays during my childhood. Asal gual :) Bandung (among other cities) was a joy for many years.

  • @akulupalagi and that is the only reason why we can be this rich in culture. We're very tolerant.

  • @jeanferdi

    Right.

    That's why homosexuality is shunned.

  • @Ln192 and thats something that you will probably never change. just appreciate the positive side to things, people have beliefs and if they believe homosexuality to be wrong so be it. i have no problem at all with it but i wouldn't be stopping others from having there opinion.

  • @TheMagicRealist You're fucking retarded. You're nothing but another far-leftist motherfucker who thinks he knows it all.

  • @akulupalagi yeah, except sulawesi

  • Sunda can never get away or be separated from Java. Is like the skin and the flesh. Where ever they go they have to bring along Java names with them, then people will know where they came from. Does'nt matter with this 'Tittle' The heart of Sundanese & Javanese is the same. Their music, their wearing & culture can tells...

  • we are nusantara people not asia! our old religion is animism and we only worship our old ancestors!!

  • salam Ireland

  • so deep, touching my heart...oh

  • This is a beautiful & mystical sound...Sunda Hindu heritage...Bangkitlah Hindu Sunda....anak cucu Prabu Siliwangi...

  • bangkitlah islam sunda!

  • Islam. :D

  • are you forgetting that sundanese culture was heavily influenced by hinduism and buddhism?

  • some day hinduism, buddhism and even islam will get well melted and nicely blended in asia. even if how much they wanted to separate them each others. maybe some more decades or centuries later. it's asia as usual.

  • there's nothing wrong with that. for many centuries, people had thought that religion would bring them harmony but it did not because of the bigotry of most religious leaders. in other words, most people doesn't really grasp the concept of religion itself.

  • only time can resolve and i think time will do so, even though how much peoples fight against time.. we never win it.. today's harmony of buddhism&hinduism (and others) in asia is so beautiful. i can't imagine how horrible they fighted in the pasts.. islam may be the next one to be put, melted, stirred. with some more time and spice to be better-cooked. our descendants eat them. that's what the ancesters did for us, and this delicious music. indonesia is such a rich place culturally anyways.

  • ayanuhito: All will eventually vanish, and then something new will take their place. Religions have lifespans, they are born, they live for several thousand years, and they die. Go to Greece or Egypt, or visit Stonehenge or the pyramids of Mexico, and you'll see what the grave of a religion looks like. Human culture is like a body of water with waves that rise and fall and currents that shift and merge.

  • @july071992 who says? We found no Gamelan or Kacapi in India...

So, Sundanese has its own culture... it's true that Hinduism influence it... but it's only a little...

then you might erase the word "heavily" if you're pleased to do this :)

  • awesome!

  • i love Indonesian traditional music.. a real taste of passion and mystery..

  • omg!!! the puppets are giving me fear!!!

  • this video is milsead it doesnt suit the music

sundanese have no wayang kulit, the video is jawa but he music is sunda

  • fatsada omahmu endi aku pengin kenal

aku jowo indonesia saiki kerjo ka UTM skudai

    dadi pensyarah...

Hai alo, di jabar juga ada wang kulit, diperbatasan dengan jakarta dan di cirebon

dan di jawa juga ada yang golek...

  • I love this!!!!!

    INDEED THIS IS KACAPI SULING!

    salam dari belanda!

  • enaak euy gendingnya..

    salam dari norway

  • Wow! You're from Norway and you speak Malay? Cool! I'm from Singapore, I'm a Chinese.

  • the title mislead non-Indonesian. as Sundanese is different from Javanese culturally: music, language, food even some way of life, it's better to mention Sundanese rather than Sunda-Javanese. although Sunda is in Java island.

btw, Sundanese has no wayang kulit like above picture. we have wayang golek (3D).

however thanks a lot for upoading this, I really miss my home. salam dari melbourne.

  • Mantep euy, ngan naha gambarna wayang kulit ? Teu nanaon lah nu penting mah musikna euy. Jadi inget ka kampung.

  • Sory, gak nyambung clipnya. Instrument jawa barat itu kecapi suling dan wayangnya itu wayang golek bukan wayang kulit.

  • This is kacapi suling, a kind of "chamber music", not gamelan which is an orchestra.

  • sunda forever

  • i agree, it's too hispanisized.

  • such an enigma i wish the philippines has a music like this because filipino music sucks

  • sunda baget euy...
