  • The thumb nail looked like a penis that's why i clicked on this

  • lol thos are pot plants

  • They do bite though if you're not careful. I've been bitten by one before lol It didn't leave a mark but did hurt. I <3 dragonflies

  • For some reason I fell in love with them this year, having paid them no mind all my life. They are amazing and I have taken many photographs of many varieties and caught a few. However, I was unaware that they could be coaxed onto a finger.

  • Incredible. They are one of my absolute favorate creatures, I'm jealous! ;)

  • I used to be afraid of them because of the sizes, but now that I see this I think they are very pretty and innocent animals :)

  • i'd use one to get rid of these mosquitoes

  • do they bite

  • those things are scary

  • I was and mesmerized by dragonflies, i remember when i was a child, togethrr w my friend, we would spend our days catching dragonflies.....

  • Great video! I had one land on me at work, and wore him on my blouse like a brooch for over an hour. When I had a minute to take a walk outside, he looked at me then flew off. I think he was thanking me.

  • Nice video! Dragonflies are just magical. I have had many of them land on me. Once, a dragonfly came into the store where I worked and I put it on my blouse (rather like a brooch) and "wore" him for over an hour until I had a chance to go outdoors and once we went out, he looked at me and then flew off. I think he was thanking me . Cool!

  • I found a dragonfly and named it Sparx!!!

  • one note, dragonflies cannot walk, only land and take off or hover and catch food, some speices of dragonflies called Nymph dragonflies are known to catch small fish when they leap out of the water

  • Tame one and tame one, i dont know why but dragonflies are not that spooked by putting a finger in front or of the side of them and even poke them slightly and their reaction to this are that they sometimes would climb on to it or fly away but as said in the text often came back to the same spot if you are gently with them. If they are in a area with less predators and then mostly birds they are normaly a little less spooked by you.

  • Awesome video. Dragon taming is one of my favorite summer activities, too. :)

  • mine too! :D Dragonflys are amazing!^^

  • Wow!!!!! You are the Dragonfly Whisperer.

  • I LOVE dragonflies idk why. i would like to tame one. there is a beautiful blue one that flies around my back yard every day for an hour so sometimes i watch it.

  • we are natural friends! human<mozzie<dragonfly therefore they are friends! X3

  • dragonflies are my favorite insect:)

  • @aanhorn that is correct , i think Indians or early Americans called dragonflys mosquito hawks sometimes

  • mosquito hawks are bugs that eat mosquitoes. they also look like giant mosquitoes.

  • @turbolaserman they are not you big baby

  • dragonflies are soooooooooo cool!

  • dragonflies are one of my favorite creatures. it used to be rare for me to see one but now that ive moved they breed in my back yard ^-^ its something i look forward to every day , walking the dog and viewing my own little garden of dragonflies. i saw one very large one with black and white markings on its wings (>^-^)>

thanks for sharing this video, i wish my family liked them (or bothered to learn more about them ) i hate seeing them come to harm cause people are afraid of them...

  • thats cool-do you know what kind of plants attract them and how warm it has to be for the plant to live?

  • you usually see alot of them in warmer weather but its not uncommon to find them in the north near large amounts of water where they breed. usually if you can find mosquitoes and water nearby there are hungry dragonflys not that far from them ^-^

  • wow thats pretty cool!

  • i'm holding mine right now. i raised it from a nymph. its so far about 3 1/2 inches long. its a beautiful black and green one. sadly, its dying. i'm spending its last moments with it on my thumb.

  • i think i know what you have done wrong: don't feed them poison, apparently they can't digest that stuff.

  • i don't think i did. i just let it catch all the mosquitos it wanted in my screen enclosure. but too late to tell now. its already dead. ='(

  • How the hell do you get one of these as a pet or tame it? I've only ever seen 'em wild & I'm SO jealous!

  • i think the saddest part of a d-fly's death is when it starts to shake wile its still breathing

  • Ive seen much much bigger dragonflies than that! i mean, it was 4 times bigger! I was eating breakfast at my grandmom, and one of those bastards came in the window, it was ugly as hell!

  • Thats so cool!

  • Great video. Beautiful creatures. 5 Stars. I had a butterfly that visited me for 13 day's. The video's (short and long version) are on my channel. Have a great weekend. Linda.

  • well im thinking that it the ants cause when i left it there, there were lot's of them

  • I need a pet dragonfly, damnit. They're predators of mosquitoes, so that would really help around Summertime...

  • "Man Last night when I was walking out side, I heard a noise. So I stop to look in the grass and I saw a Dragonfly being attack by a Bee!

So I pick it up and took the bee away!, after that I took the Dragonfly home with me. By the time I got home it was pretty much dead, so I left it outside and I went back to check on it, this morning and it was gone! -______-"

Trick Me!!! But it was a "BIG ONE"

  • wow, amazing!

  • I have a horrid dragonfly phobia, but these videos really help me cope with it. I wouldn't mind holding one of the smaller kinds, they don't look as ugly as the bigger ones.

  • I've probably held a thousand dragonflies of all sizes- up to six inches body length- and only one has ever tried to nibble on me. It was a green darner- about 3 1/2 inches long- and it was more of a curious test bite. I didn't really feel it and my skin wasn't torn. I doubt that a dragonfly could seriously harm you.

  • so, how do you coax one onto your finger?

and how do you keep it there?!

  • Read the reply to david0. You slowly slide your finger alongside the body and try to coax a back leg by lifting the tail just behind the legs with the tip of your finger (THEY DO NOT HAVE STINGERS.) Once you have one leg, push against the body and slowly- gently- lift. It usually takes a couple of tries because they fly off. But they will usually come back to the same perch, so just try again. They are beautiful close up and you will never think of insects in the same way again if successful.

  • wtf? how do u tame them?

  • It just takes patience. Sometimes you can walk right up to the first dragonfly you see and it will climb onto your finger. Others will reqiure stalking and trying to get them to perch. Once they do, they are unafraid of you.

  • Greatest flying insect around. Good for my area where flies of all kinds and mosquitos run rampant pissing off the locals. Sadly I don't believe they can do much to the Wasp population, barbeques suck when they come along, plus there aren't a lot of bees because of them.

  • Actually, I've never observed a dragonfly eating a bee or wasp of any kind- or a moth or butterfly, for that matter. All they'll do at your barbecue is eat the flies and mosquitos that would otherwise bother you. And in their larval stage, which is spent in water, the mainstay of their diet is mosquito larvae. They are beautiful insects!

  • I'm talking about Wasps. Wasps are arseholes when it comes to barbeques and the bee population.
