The noise is pretty irrelevant when you're on a bike. You're not hearing what bystanders are hearing and on longer journeys, the quieter the better! Give me the torque of an electric motor over a petrol engine any day. Looks like I may need to save up for the number of tyres I'll get through though!

The "noise" is one of the best parts?! Seriously? The best parts are the G's on your body, the wind in your face, the tight corners hugging the road, and the pure acceleration and exhilaration of being out in the open like you're flying low over the earth. The noise is a byproduct that distracts you. The next thing you'll say is "shifting" is one of the best parts... total b.s.
