This is the biggest hit April Wine ever had. Song hit number 21 in the USA. SHOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER, I KNOW. I thought it reached in the top 100 of 1981.
!!! T H A N K S !!! ! You made me listen to this song .. you made me go back in time.!! Remember once again .. When only between you and me ... good music and nothing more was necessary ... JUST ENJOY THE LIFE !!!
You have made me remember that life was so simple and beautiful and still can be !!!
I met my woman last year. We are both in our mid 40's and spent last night listening to April Wine. We talked about our past and celebrated the good old days. We talked about our future and celebrated our potential. April Wine is still relevant
Back in 1991 we had our first dance as a married couple. This was our song and still is. I love you Chad and this song always brings me back to WE CAN MAKE IT THROUGH EVERYTHING that comes our way.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Great song, great memories..being 17 in the summer of 82, cruising in my 70 Mustang Mach1 heading to the beach, friends, girls, beer, bonfires, girls. Life was perfect, what more did you need.
I am so glad I grew up in Cleveland, OH in the 70's I remember many of the rock bands use to make their way through Cleveland, I was there! I have evry ticket stubb to prove it. That was tru Rocking in America...
April Wine is a great band! i saw them last year at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, damn good show, they still got it after 40 years of rockin' :)
Brother wore this 8 track out in his 59 Ford pickup, cruising up and down the main drag in 1982. Took two match books wedged under the cartridge to keep it running. Got my first car when I was 16 in 1989, it had an 8 track deck in it. Went to the local thrift shop to see if I could find any tapes to listen to and in among the gospel tapes was The Nature of the Beast. Someone had a sense of humor. I had something to listen to all summer when I cruised the main drag!
@Trenchbroom Yep, I had a 59 ford shortbed fleetside with a 223cid inline 6. Same thing, I cruised main street with a matchbook holding the tape in the player. (but mine only needed one!), I really miss those days. (Geez nowdays the kids get a ticket for cruising Main Street!, when we cruised main in my day that allowed the cops to see if anyone was out of control. Nowdays they force them out of the main drag to who knows where!).
i graduated in 82 jfk high in taylor michigan, seeen this band like 3 times, open for rush and styx, they were awesome, check out max webster and kim mitchell if you can, more kickass canadian stuff, oh also trooper.
i love reading everyones comments that bring them to the exact time in there life with a song, great music does that. i love the 80s and glad i could be apart of it.
haha my tag is a joke, obvi. also, april wine kicks ass! i wasn't bashing them in the slightest, i was simply stating that there is still good music now a days, its not ALL garbage...just most of it :D
i requested this song at my middle school dance last year. they said they had it but they never played it because according to them i was "the only person who would like it"...
Back then,No computer, no cell phone, no BS! Hard to believe. Our society is so fractured now. We used to be as one. I still don't own a tv, though. 11 years and I don't miss it. A five year old dumb phone. Off half the time. Old stereo is crankin' You want to talk to me? read my lips, lol. That's all. Have a good day. (I do have a kickin' PC and sound system, though) Just not into all that other stuff. Make life easy.
@broncobra I'm with you, on this modern day BS, took us till about a month ago to even go computerized in our household. Still have a turntable with lots of albums, trying to keep our kids simplyfied, that all this techno is not a neccesity, but a tool for usefulness, not just to occupy and babysit our children, hope some parents read and get it.
@broncobra I don't know you but I completely relate with you, and we're on the same page in terms of what has happened to our society and culture........I have forgone tv for the past year as well and it feels great.......
I'm 41, grew up with this great music! Just yesterday I took the T tops off my 74 Corvette, dialed in this song on the MP3 player and drove 100MPH down the interstate singing at the top of my lungs! I wonder where Julie is these days???????
That tone is awful! It sounds like they're going out of the amp right into the board, which is strange. They should be using mics in front of the cabinets, but you can tell they're not. You really like the guitar tone on the solos?
This song used to make my mom and dad sooo happy when they were smitten with each other back in the day, today, he burnt her toast and I haven't heard the end of it.
Believe it or believe it, I got my first "taste" of April Wine via the local library in their media section, renting LPs, they even had Motorhead's No Sleep till Hammersmith!
@67firebird428 I had a 73 mustang, 351 cleveland, FMX tranny. Damn to have that car, my mullet, and all the money I pissed away between then and now. I would be set!
when music ment something. rap killed the meaning to lots of music. and lets not forget that rap has stolen bits and peices of really talented groups.get some talent or better yet just stop rap sucks
@trippinontussin ...Lol, I totally forgot the scrap paper trick..... Remember the folded up match book jammed beside the 8 track tape so it wouldn't play 2 tracks at once?
@shelta11 ... Glad to hear it. Cherish these times. They will one day be your good 'ol days. BTW, I still do these things (except for the teenage love), guess old habits die hard...LOL
I should have listened...so many years ago. Haha. There was a gal in High School that really loved this song....I hated it! I was into Judas Priest and Maiden. Years later and miles apart I realized what she meant. A lost opportunity. But we all have those moments - So remember something is not what it seems. I was a fool...looking for the "perfect" girl. Hahahaha
I remember many highschool dances, always afraid to ask that one chick to dance to this song and working up the nerve about 1/2 way through. Funny thing is, I married her!!!!! Great song, many memories. ty for the upload
@TheCozybear65 I only recently started using YouTube and am still learning how it works. At the moment I'm just converting videos to mp3's for my player.
The Video For This Song was played many many times during the mid and late summer of 1981 on MTV . MTV was born on august 1st 1981-and I cant remember exactly when I first tuned in. But I do know it was August 1981. Id never seen anything like it- some vids were cheesy and stupid-others just showed the band on stage-but the music was cool! I was 12 years old at the time-but I remember- most new music was good- and MTV played it! ..... MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED
@f2555 Mtv doesnt even play music anymore! just stupid reality shows! what the hell I got my own reality. I loved the 80s. Lived the 80s this music brings me back there. Would go back there in a heartbeat. Yea it was cheeeesy, but DAMN! it was fun! PEACE!
@mach1franco The 80s were so, so very good, we didn't know what we had! I bought a brand new Buick Grand National in 87, but had to wait 4 months till I turned 25 before any insurance company would touch me! .lol. I ate beans and rice and ramman noodles, but life was good. The sun, the women, the way women looked, everything was optimistic. we were on a roll. Good times will never end there. MTV ruled back then. Big hair, Max Headroom, everything. The sky was the limit!
@broncobra --did you ever see "Dazed and Confused"? Even though its set in the mid-70s, the vibe was the same as you described...pretty girls, keg party in the woods, fast cars, rocking tunes, and most importantly. being happy and free. The 80s weren't easy for me, but I will sure as hell take it over the 2000s--no Amber alerts, no terror threat levels, no airport pat downs, no Octomoms, no Lilos, no Farcebook, no gang shootings at the mall, no texting, no political correctness! I miss the past.
@DestroyerofSouls666 80's weren't really easy for me either, but I hear you. I'm glad I lived through them instead of now, for my youth. It was a very, very special time. I thought it would never end! Keggers, fast cars and faster women! Good tunes! The air was almost electric - it just buzzed with energy and optimism. You nailed it, buddy! Happy and free.....what a concept.....(and I thought the 80's were a jack booted thud compared to the 60s and 70s! lol, how little I knew)!
Reading your post made me laugh out loud! We're the same age and I totally identify with what you're saying. Last summer, I sprained my ankle by sitting cross-legged in yoga class. Also, I'm having the hardest time posting this message..
just found this on an old record my mom and dad have well it's mine now lol i love this song and im only 15 what is up with the music now a days how could you like a song about sex drug's and so on well it must be just me like this if your young and love rock and roll. reply if you want thanks.

@WealthLetter What's a "tape"? lol, j/k The pencil to fix, the scrap paper to record, oh the old days!
trippinontussin 7 months ago
@trippinontussin ...Lol, I totally forgot the scrap paper trick..... Remember the folded up match book jammed beside the 8 track tape so it wouldn't play 2 tracks at once?
WealthLetter 7 months ago
@WealthLetter We do the same thing now, with better music.

Hahahaha

I was 12 years old at the time-but I remember- most new music was good- and MTV played it! ..... MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED
f2555 9 months ago

DestroyerofSouls666 6 months ago 3
