  • Yes absolutely, they live in the roots, not the leaves, kinda like a bulb. So you could cut it down to groud level and it would grow back. That being said it's best to leave some green floiage on the plant so that it can photosynthesize and thus grow faster

  • would if be ok to cut the heads off and let them grow back? mine are all messed up when i bought it the traps stay half open and are mangled....would it be possible just to cut them off and the plant will grow new ones????

  • PWND!

  • yumm yuummm fat and juicy

  • so is it a GOOD thing wen the plant goes red on the inside or should it go green and is it best to stay on windowsill or outside plz can any1 help all new to me thanks

  • How do you get your plant to grow so profusely?

  • I had "green traps" and put them outside in the sunniest location I could find and they turned dark red on the inside and outside as well as the teeth.

  • ownage

  • owned xD

  • thats a really healthy one the trap closed quickly

  • i love how you can see it running around lol

  • wow that looks like a verey very happy Venusflytrap.

  • *not one word*

  • OMG BUG GOT OWNED

  • where did u buy?

  • if ur ammerican, go to home depo, if ur british, homebase or b&q if u r of another nationality then i dont kno.

  • et une mouche a merde en moin

  • lol.. it ran back inside the plant when it started closing.

  • thats it! struggle, c'mon struggle and let it get tighter.

  • did u only use 1 seed 2 get all those coz im getting 1 and i need some pointers plz

  • I didn't grow that plant from seed - I just bought it. If you grow VFT's from seed, it takes a few years to get mature plants. This was probably one plant to start with, but they reproduce by splitting from the roots to form more plants and eventually crowd to fill a pot.

  • so its inevitable. there just gonna die from being over crowded eventually. How long does that take exactly

  • owned.

  • don't forget their winter dormancy!

  • Wow, that one is huge.

  • i prefer green one, just like it more. my ones is still young but soon it will have nearly 40 of traps,

give me some time, in a month i hope mein would be monster :) beatifull plant

  • Can i ask how you get the traps to turn red? mine are all green and stay that color :( thanks

  • As much direct sunlight as possible. Also, if you put the plant in a place where it does not catch food for a month or two, the traps should turn really red.

If this doesn't work, chances are you have a genetically pale VFT.

  • @kakozord that's what happened to me. I have bought mine 2 years ago, it was already quite big, gets wasps and other flying stuff often, lots of light, but it never turned even a little bit red

  • As far as I know (And I'm not expert) some species of Flytrap are MEANT to be all green, and some turn red. So don't worry, it might just be the species of plant you have, you're not doing anything wrong!

  • Sunlight.I've been trying it for months and the wont turn red,so some plants must genetically be green.

  • how do you get ur plant soo huuuge??

  • Full sun all day, lots of rainwater and lots of juicy flies.

  • my area lacks all of that :S

  • lol. You could try using artificial lighting.

  • I feed mine spiders. The spiders which are a decent size are very fast though, so I pour a little boiling water over them first. Mine began flowering not so long ago, but I dropped some blinds on them stem and it died. Still, I did manage to kill it after I got to see the actual flower.

  • wow, that's crazy my venus only caught stuff i threw in it...

  • that must be a horrible way to die!

  • Great video. I know it takes hours to make a shoot like this. I invite you to see my photos of carnivorous plants: http://www.flickr.com/photos/graif/sets/1324347/
