How funny is it when man takes himself out of the natural cycle. Meaning: animals kill animals, animals and insects do tons of damage to trees, trees crash into each other, and that’s ok because we call it natural. Then we put ourselves under crazy scrutiny and say we should leave nature alone, keep our hands off everything, and nature hates us and will have her revenge, and we’re the worst thing that ever happened to the planet, etc.
Obviously it’s gotta be a balance. Have there been terrible practices and poor planning and businesses that have done more harm than good? Sure. But in the spirit of survival and nature, we can have a healthy place where man and the environment coexist. Nervous people won’t be satisfied unless man is living in a bubble. Even the most extreme naturalist kills something, lol.
Going for a walk along the coast, maybe to a favourite perch overlooking a valley or a simple walk through the woods: you’re killing thousands of insects, as well as damaging plants. Oh so now we’re choosing? Insects are kind of creepy and disgusting but plants are pretty, so sorry but too bad insects?
Got another great one: being vegetarian because you don’t want to support some crappy conditions of the industry is definitely fair and sensible,
but being vegetarian because you simply don’t like the idea of killing animals is a bit strange since it is widely accepted that plants are organisms too. So what makes someone choose one over the other? “Well, animals have eyes and that’s just way more than I can handle, plus some may fight back, but plants are much easier to kill, so I’ll just eat plants and feel like I am righteous”. That sounds like a child’s reasoning.
Yeah I have a passion for trees. When I first saw this video I knew tree lovers would describe it as satan’s work. But there’s a respectful healthy way to harvest trees. We understand the many cycles of a forest, logs/remains left on the floor certainly do have new uses by other organisms including other plants. We don’t usually cut juvenile trees. Most trees properly assessed for harvest will lessen the competition for resources,
open up space for more or new growth. Altered the flow of water, rain absorption and some area is suffering because of it? It is highly likely that another area is now getting saturated and benefiting from the new flow/absorption direction. Believe me I can go on and on. Is there a business somewhere totally shitting on nature? You bet there is, but somewhere right now there is a doctor violating a patient, does that mean all doctors are evil?
In fact, just because someone works in a profession where they cut, fell, lop, prune, etc, trees doesn’t mean they don’t like trees, and it doesn’t mean they couldn’t give a crap about nature. My best wishes-

Floshac, doesn't know nothin about logging. The way they heli Log they leave 70% of the wood on the hill Hippy if ya don't know , don't open your mouth. You must be from the East coast of Quebec or soethin. Probably one of the idiots protesting greed then leaving dirty needles and garbage behind cause your too lazy to even clean your own mess. probably why your homeless, jobless and feeding off the rest of us hard working folks that can make something of our selves.
Though i do like how they are using the heli-logging method which is far better than conventianol logging, as they dont have tgo make a road in the forest, But this still doesn make it right!
I agree that the job does seem appealing, but they are destroying our planet and forests. @104bigTruck. trees take hundreds of years to grow back unless you add hormones to them which can modify tress in a way which completely changes their species. no wonder 1% of forests are left on the planet. cause of rednecks like you.
@400sean As you sit on your wood chair typing on your wood desk and printing shit on your paper what one sided tree hugger. These are the true environmetalist. Keep it up. What the ecologist dont get is that more wood is put on each year by the older trees and its much more efficient to take down the larger trees then lots of smaller ones. Its also much better for the environment.
impressive video, needs a lot of courage to do such a top cut up on a tree,, you do a mistake youre dead, incredible big trees,, probably cedar?? they must grow for hundreds years to go so tall.dont see why extreme ecologist go so nuts,, no logging no houses to be build,, cut what you need, and replant,, so what ??
Here's the child-molester who drew my attention to your disgusting celebration of abuse of god, goddess, nature and all else that life is actually about,
There is no sustainability in the methods the logging industry's uses. How much do those copters cost to run a hour? F&%^ing a lot. MrAborist don't make threat you could regret. Oh and terrible taste in music.

What do you guys do with your tops? Are they limbed and forwarded out too, or are they left behind? Your tops are bigger than out entire trees! (near halifax)
@NSTartan I know man these are massive trees. 200 feet is like average timber in BC. The one at 6:21 I almost thought was a Redwood it's so massive. Not sure what they do with the tops. In the old days they would discard the top, and use the trunk free of knots cuz it had the best wood. and Douglas fir grow like big tooth picks, usually free of branches for 2/3 the way up.
@NSTartan lolll you are from the east side too XD the fuck theyr tops are fucking biggers than ours pines here lol dont try anything with a timberjack or a john deere lol
trees are harvested and then replanted for the next generation to log.i see nothing wrong with this being done this way.i bet the environmentalist who bitch about it arnt complaining about the big nice house they live that's made of? you guessed it WOOD!!!

Wow, the worker's comp for that must cost a lot.. Falling trees is one of the most dangerous jobs, and then add to that climbing up the tree, which means you can't have an escape route.
Hey Duncanite, Way Cool !! I climb and fall myself but not to this extent. You guys are beasts !! Keep it up and be safe !!!! Enjoy the swing when the top goes ! Weee
@frankbaloney we did degrees.... and got into government because you wouldn't listen before... now we pull the strings from higher up and you follow... hence all the ESD legislation in place. if you want timber then grow it yourself.... its faster and cheaper. and SUSTAINABLE
brightstarlit .... - try wipeing your ass with plastic! someones gotta do this very dangerous, hard work for us, you should be thanking them you ignorant thing!
@AMBERandboys5 Their are synthetics and other fibers available such as hemp, sugarcane bagasse, cotton, bamboo, etc. I am in no way oppossed to logging, when done in a sustainable, thought out way. Tree farms work, but destroying ecosytems in the rare and last standing groves of oldgrowth is bullshit, and lazy/greedy by the companies doing so. I commend the loggers for their hard work, and skill, but I jsut dont agree with logging old growth. You sound ignorant with your potty talk.
@brightstarlit Old trees die, and start producing CO2. Logging has been done for hundreds of years, and the logging you see in these shows does not hurt any ecosystem
@AMBERandboys5 .... you do not NEED TO DO IT THIS DANGEROUSLY that is a blatant lie, for paper production big hardwoods like this aren't used, and f they are its as a supplement for better materials. and DUMBLEODS you are wrong, logging the oldest largest trees in a forest simply reduces the biggest seed spreading trees in the forest. and the 'old' ones produce half the CO2 you produce cutting them down and using a HELICOPTER to remove them, widely renowned as one of the least efficient ways
hahaha i can't believe people think that THIS is teh cause of deforestation.... these guys plant 3 tree's for every 1 they cut and if those 3 don't grow properly they are forced to plant more. Deforestation is caused from people cutting down enture area's then burning everything.
i Do the Same Kind of work i learn by my self my Name is Mad Maxx i live in Timmins Ontario using the New 576XP Chainsaw that outputs the 390XP , Nice Vid
Hey guys! I`m a Swiss lumberjack who's really really almost insanly interested in cutting down trees in this size! Wanna come and work with these guys! A dream would come true :) If one of you knows a possibility to do that, let me know!!! thx!!!.
Canadian loggers...Where MEN are MEN. Takes a special breed to do what these MEN do. Most wouldn't have a chance to even climb a tree like these let alone cut it down!! Hats off to u guys stay safe :)
@jeffrey6750 ..... never once did I see the word like in that statement. Maybe deep down there is a bit of gayness in you that needs to be let out. Have a nice day .
just plain balls. these guys know what they are doing and i would like to see somebody else get up there. Now ill do 80-100 feet but past that im getting tired. good job guys and be safe out there.
Looks like Aus is finaly changing there song on the forest dibate. No more free ride for a dieng industry. Its ok beacause thats what old industrys do, they die and get replaced with new ones. Start in Tas and move north.
East Gipp is clear cut right...cable logers. discusting shit. Almost no climbing, all big machens. Old growth and any growth. no standard for replant polocies. Not even close to what these boys do,And yes, I climb those trees, but not to cut them, it is quite enoyable
you say poor trees as your fat ass is parked on a wood chair and looking through a MONITIOR SET ON A WOOD COMPUTER TABLE THAT'S SUPPORTED BY A WOOD FLOOR AND IT GOES ON. NARROW MIND.
Yah well we have been doing it for over a hundred yrs and we are still logging. WHY????? trees are renewable! HELLO? Animals THRIVE in clear cuts! Fire would clear the land in yrs past anyway. TRUE!!!
yeah monkeys and sure do, and we have been doing it not over a hundred years but over all of human's history.. but never to the extent we do now. and the thought of wiping your nose into something that's a hundred years + old is not good.
Extent we do now? Whatever!!! We plant more and preserve more just from fire prevention alone!! FACT! check out fire facts. fires ravaged the forest and leveled millions of acres before we touched them. Now we manage! I repeat! MANAGE! We have more green on the ground then ever proving this global warming crap to be just that! Crap! Preserve the working forest because that is what is truly being stolen from the publics eye. Dont' be deceieved into thinking forests are being raped.
yeah global warming is a scam so your government gets minions and even more money.
and i know what fires are capable off, i just think that hemp should be used for paper, but yeah i don't think there's something wrong with wooden furniture and houses.. and i also know you don't just run through forests cutting every single tree in your way but people in the amazonian do.. i think?
When trees die and fall naturaly they provide, Habbitat and food, rot for seeds, moss, fungi, ferns the next jen of forest and prevent erosion, especialy on steep slopes. Selective loging does not do things "better" then nature, But it is infinately better then clear cuts.
@forestell the problem is that by removing these uber large species which are a unique part of the ecosystem, many dont flower and go to seed untill at least 50 years of age, you change the dynamics of the forest, room s made naturally when the tree falls and the nutrients from that tree help many more to grow, by removing the tree you are just removing the nutrients from the cycle.
Yes they do. and in Indoniesia, and Australia and Canada and the USA. Obviously not all logging is clear cuts, and North Amarica has much better policys then many other countrys. Does anyone know the laws (or where I can read them) on logging near waterways and the endangerd spicies Policys/ laws in North America. Global warming, I beleve, Carbon release of our cut forests are real... however the Carbon credit bullshit is a total scam.
'We have more green on teh ground then ever'? What are you talking about? The entire US east of the Mississipi used to be forests. How much forest is left now?
Well The west coast is a breeding ground for trees! That's what we do here. We have more plated then ever! We have more fire prevention like never before. There is more forest saved and locked up in parks,reserves and private set asides that we are running out of the "working forest" We are proud of what we do and the heck if someone from the other side of the country can tell us differently. Drive west and see what we have been doing since before the beginning of the century.
I'm not here to pick a fight. I am jenuin in wanting to know more about the North american policys and practices. Even though I cant stand the sight of such incredable and old trees coming down I reconise the need for lumber. but I also have some facts/insights Id like to respond and share. The amount of time we have been loging is erelivent. It is much less time then those trees have been growing. There is greater tec that cuts the forest at a greater rate with less employees.
... I don't know if your in USA or Can. but there has been no new reserved forest in the states that I know of, (corect me if I'm wrong) so if you are actualy low on Working forest, then maybe you cut to much. Canada just reserved a MAssive amount of forest, and it doesn't even come close to how much is unprotected.
I also reconise that the Oil sands destroy more then forest and leave the land barren.
Animals die in clear cuts. no food=death. no homes=death. exposure to predaters= death... then thereare no prey=dead predators.
Fire does not clear land. It leaves a fertile plot full of homes for the nesisary wildlife of a rehabilitating forest. A burnt forest is nothing like a clearcut.
Trees are renewable, but not sustaneable. we cut them faster then they can grow. The UK has almost no natural forest, and there old growh is regrowth that had to be protected.
@104bigTruck unless its an oldgrowth chair worth about $200 i doubt it. we are all sitting on stained radiata pine which has grown in a plantation.. the cheap way. and your comment on global warming is wrong. oldgrowth forests do not actually sequester carbondioxide, they are carbon neutral... plantations do sequester it however.
@matsbugs1 Plantations? Well here in the pacific NW the we consider our hills and mts plantations however we have flat land planted and harvested cottonwood where people still bark about it. there's no winning with wicca people.
@104bigTruck i'd definitely disagree with anyone giving you sh it about plantations, they are one of the most efficient ways to use possible cropping lands and... lets face it.. how much easier is it per tonne for you guys to harvest from plantations!! its a win win situation. problem is while those uber rich snobs sit in their ivory towers wanting bloody mahogany for a desk.... hate to break it to them, its no better as a desk than other timbers are.. and its bloody heavy if you want to move it
@matsbugs1 LOL you don't know what you're talking about... <---- nobody listen to this guy he doesn't understand that which he heard randomly or evesdropped upon.
@Yelsewsekoorb ..... ok... so back up why you think i'm wrong? i'd appreciate it if you replied with some actual facts, and peer reviewed articles backing up your claims. I'm happy to learn if i'm wrong. though I have studied this stuff for a fair while under one of australias leading fire ecologists. if you really are an RPF, you'll have no troubles citing some relevant research to me. i'm happy to read it
awesome video. i really reall really want to cut down at least 1 tree like that in my life i think it would be such a neat feeling being that high up in a tree. i would love the opportunity to go out and just camp for like a week and do that work. just for the experience
unfortunately mate not likely to happen. do this for a living and takes a lot of training and a lot of skill. even then things can go wrong. you have to live it. no vacationer would ever be allowed to attemprt what you see here. still if you like what you see, do your tickets and make a start. not for everyone though.
you can go climb those trees without cuting them. heck, when you meet the actavists side you get to sleep in them and it will still be there for the next person. Not a slight to the loggers, just a comparison.
Independent of the opinions very respectable that they have shaped about this video, i think that is a work very dangerous and and the people who work in them, day to day set out their lives, taking shape not only to the logging, but also to take care of of the community when they appear the wild fires, in this video appears a friend that i respect and i love him. God Job Boys. Greetings from Mexico.
Hun if that makes u feel better in your own little world~then hun sleep well Im sure u can wipe ur ass with a little leaf oh wait that would require tree there too Good luck with that God Bless
@carabiner thats a pretty good ratio, im a forestry major in maine, but a vermont resident, (US) . we dont have those kinds of trees over here due to clear cutting a couple hundred years ago. I would have to spend another 4 years of forestry in NZ just to begin to understand your forests. good stuff
i'm a forest products major right now at ms state hopefully i'll be able to do somethin like this when i graduate or on one of my co-op work terms. its my dream job.
All of you people the criticize that job, should study more the reason why these trees have to be cut down.
I don't think (i'm shure) that no one wakes up in the morning and think: "ooo what i'm going to do today? let's go to cut a tree... i have nothing to do..."
Before use your tongue, be sure that the brain is connected!!!!!
ey guys... very nice job .. ;) i have in europe in austria a sawmill and we were lucky if we had such big logs .. in europe you cant find a log over 1 meter brightness .... nice job and stay save
nope managed slide through the the fingers of that BS, just had to fall 12 trees in front of some bone head who "read the book" and take a multiple choice test
HAHAA Destroying mother earth? lol. Give it up, you're more than happy to use the products and services provided by logging (which is essential to human life), but you point the finger and call them money lovers? I guess I must have missed the fact that loggers are 6 figure money earners? What a joke your comments are. You appear to be highly naive and uneducated. People have been cutting down trees since the stone age, why dont you join PETA or something... FML
Haha, you children cut down trees with machines?! I use my bare pecks! You see, one carefully place clash of my marvelous meat mountains sends a sonic boom straignt into the core of the desied tree and renders it to its knees!
I want to become a timber faller it s the coolest job!!!!!

impressive video, needs a lot of courage to do such a top cut up on a tree,, you do a mistake youre dead, incredible big trees,, probably cedar?? they must grow for hundreds years to go so tall.dont see why extreme ecologist go so nuts,, no logging no houses to be build,, cut what you need, and replant,, so what ??

@NSTartan
my husband does this same job and i used to ask the same question, they just leave the tops on the ground!
monkeytreegirl 9 months ago
@NSTartan I know man these are massive trees. 200 feet is like average timber in BC. The one at 6:21 I almost thought was a Redwood it's so massive. Not sure what they do with the tops. In the old days they would discard the top, and use the trunk free of knots cuz it had the best wood. and Douglas fir grow like big tooth picks, usually free of branches for 2/3 the way up.

AMBERandboys5 1 year ago
@AMBERandboys5 Their are synthetics and other fibers available such as hemp, sugarcane bagasse, cotton, bamboo, etc. I am in no way oppossed to logging, when done in a sustainable, thought out way. Tree farms work, but destroying ecosytems in the rare and last standing groves of oldgrowth is bullshit, and lazy/greedy by the companies doing so. I commend the loggers for their hard work, and skill, but I jsut dont agree with logging old growth. You sound ignorant with your potty talk.
brightstarlit 1 year ago
@brightstarlit Old trees die, and start producing CO2. Logging has been done for hundreds of years, and the logging you see in these shows does not hurt any ecosystem
DumbleODS 1 year ago
@AMBERandboys5 .... you do not NEED TO DO IT THIS DANGEROUSLY that is a blatant lie, for paper production big hardwoods like this aren't used, and f they are its as a supplement for better materials. and DUMBLEODS you are wrong, logging the oldest largest trees in a forest simply reduces the biggest seed spreading trees in the forest. and the 'old' ones produce half the CO2 you produce cutting them down and using a HELICOPTER to remove them, widely renowned as one of the least efficient ways
matsbugs1 1 year ago
hahaha i can't believe people think that THIS is teh cause of deforestation.... these guys plant 3 tree's for every 1 they cut and if those 3 don't grow properly they are forced to plant more. Deforestation is caused from people cutting down enture area's then burning everything.

i don't support cutting down rain forests and destroying wildlife so people can wipe their ass with them and blow their nose in them.
well whatever you're the open minded genius.
iamismehellyeah 1 year ago
Yah well we have been doing it for over a hundred yrs and we are still logging. WHY????? trees are renewable! HELLO? Animals THRIVE in clear cuts! Fire would clear the land in yrs past anyway. TRUE!!!
104bigTruck 1 year ago
@104bigTruck
yeah monkeys and sure do, and we have been doing it not over a hundred years but over all of human's history.. but never to the extent we do now. and the thought of wiping your nose into something that's a hundred years + old is not good.
iamismehellyeah 1 year ago
Extent we do now? Whatever!!! We plant more and preserve more just from fire prevention alone!! FACT! check out fire facts. fires ravaged the forest and leveled millions of acres before we touched them. Now we manage! I repeat! MANAGE! We have more green on the ground then ever proving this global warming crap to be just that! Crap! Preserve the working forest because that is what is truly being stolen from the publics eye. Dont' be deceieved into thinking forests are being raped.
104bigTruck 1 year ago
@104bigTruck
yeah global warming is a scam so your government gets minions and even more money.
and i know what fires are capable off, i just think that hemp should be used for paper, but yeah i don't think there's something wrong with wooden furniture and houses.. and i also know you don't just run through forests cutting every single tree in your way but people in the amazonian do.. i think?
tell me if i'm wrong.
iamismehellyeah 1 year ago
sounds good. I guess some of the first paper currency was made of Pot. hemp weed or whatever. lol
104bigTruck 1 year ago
@iamismehellyeah
they are selective cutting in this video.. which is actually beleive it or not good
gives room for more trees to grow ... the bush can only get so thick
forestell 1 year ago
@forestell
When trees die and fall naturaly they provide, Habbitat and food, rot for seeds, moss, fungi, ferns the next jen of forest and prevent erosion, especialy on steep slopes. Selective loging does not do things "better" then nature, But it is infinately better then clear cuts.
stinkmunkey 1 year ago
@forestell the problem is that by removing these uber large species which are a unique part of the ecosystem, many dont flower and go to seed untill at least 50 years of age, you change the dynamics of the forest, room s made naturally when the tree falls and the nutrients from that tree help many more to grow, by removing the tree you are just removing the nutrients from the cycle.
matsbugs1 1 year ago
@iamismehellyeah
Global warming, I beleve, Carbon release of our cut forests are real... however the Carbon credit bullshit is a total scam.
stinkmunkey 1 year ago
'We have more green on teh ground then ever'? What are you talking about? The entire US east of the Mississipi used to be forests. How much forest is left now?
chunhaylee 1 year ago
Well The west coast is a breeding ground for trees! That's what we do here. We have more plated then ever! We have more fire prevention like never before. There is more forest saved and locked up in parks,reserves and private set asides that we are running out of the "working forest" We are proud of what we do and the heck if someone from the other side of the country can tell us differently. Drive west and see what we have been doing since before the beginning of the century.
104bigTruck 1 year ago
@104bigTruck
There is greater tec that cuts the forest at a greater rate with less employees.
stinkmunkey 1 year ago
@stinkmunkey
I also reconise that the Oil sands destroy more then forest and leave the land barren.
stinkmunkey 1 year ago
@104bigTruck
The UK has almost no natural forest, and there old growh is regrowth that had to be protected.
stinkmunkey 1 year ago
@stinkmunkey Animals flourish in clear cuts! You are showing your ignorance BOY!
3Mudbone1 7 months ago
@104bigTruck unless its an oldgrowth chair worth about $200 i doubt it. we are all sitting on stained radiata pine which has grown in a plantation.. the cheap way. and your comment on global warming is wrong. oldgrowth forests do not actually sequester carbondioxide, they are carbon neutral... plantations do sequester it however.
matsbugs1 1 year ago
@matsbugs1 Plantations? Well here in the pacific NW the we consider our hills and mts plantations however we have flat land planted and harvested cottonwood where people still bark about it. there's no winning with wicca people.
104bigTruck 1 year ago
@104bigTruck i'd definitely disagree with anyone giving you sh it about plantations, they are one of the most efficient ways to use possible cropping lands and... lets face it.. how much easier is it per tonne for you guys to harvest from plantations!! its a win win situation. problem is while those uber rich snobs sit in their ivory towers wanting bloody mahogany for a desk.... hate to break it to them, its no better as a desk than other timbers are.. and its bloody heavy if you want to move it
matsbugs1 1 year ago
