  • It's funny because this actually does work. This should have way more views. It is actually groundbreaking. People need to realise this.

  • I was actually more interested in how writing lyrics works in conjunction to chords and such then how to get a theme together.

  • sad im from sweden and did not understand 1/3 of the video

  • This sounds great!

Recently... I've been struck with an urge to become a lyricist. I've been writing in journals/diaries since about 9 years old. I can write in a journal all day, usually about nothing or whatever is happening at the moment, I take it with me. haha. It was like a Twitter or a internet blog of my time. Usually still is.

But any time I try to write lyrics.... I get the biggest writer's blocks ever!

But I will overcome those, hopefully with this method. haha

  • silly kids, the words come to you in time :)

  • @LucyBellTvcomingsoon haha. Unless you're like me and feel like you have no time! aish. I don't know what to do anymore. ;D

  • From a guy who wrote a song about the people he met in a beach.

  • This was good, Im writing a song about a panda and a armadillo who go to a supermarket to buy some bread so they can feed the ducks. (:

    I have 3 and a1/2 paragraphs xD

  • @ORSUMfezbubble Dude, that comment made my day! Seriously thats epic :DDD

  • @Liibbyyyy

    plot twist!

    The ducks die.

As the armadillo and panda poisoned the bread,

  • @ORSUMfezbubble Ohmygod! LETDOWN :( rip little guy.

  • @Liibbyyyy

Algoods i'm pretty sure the ducks had it coming, they were probably a strange mutant hybrid version of the duck that were killing the local civilians of hushafabfab island.

  • @ORSUMfezbubble that's a good point. ducks can be so sneaky these days. watch your back, kids.

  • Greatest love song ever written? Jealous Guy by John Lennon.

  • great tips, my songs usually come from my subconscious.. thanks for these tips

  • Thanks, my friend and I are writing a song and this helped!

  • as smart as it can be. Thank you!!! I find this very very helpful!

  • I base the songs I write on my life.

If something is happening in your life for example: something exciting, tragic, sad, funny, happy

Then think about the event and words or lines of the song start to form in your head.

Grab a bit of paper or whatever and write it down before you forget again.

That is a tip for you guys. Base the song on something that has atualy happened to you then it will have really come from the heart :)

  • Thank you so much!

  • i love this i could be applied to anything... :D Thanks!!

  • "The 'idearer' appears".!

Thank you for posting this video, I will subscribe and attempt this "Magic Method" - the chords are already with me, I only have to think of a not-so-horrible melody and lyrics.

  • thank you i have been wondering how famus singers do there work im gonna write a song now so wish me luck thx agen i hope you have a good day

  • i keep trying to write a song about a specific someone in my life right now and i cant seem to do it. so can someone maybe help me write a song. ill give you all the info if you message me. please ,thank you ?!!?! or maybe you can give me advise. cause its about a guy. and well ya

  • I HATE writing lyrics.. however, I have friends that like to hear words when were all toasted and playing so I better learn some.. ahh, a magic method should do just fine.. Their all drunk anyways..

  • Soul destructing......yes lol

  • Wow!!! Its SOOOO simple. Here I was, going around thinking that songwriting required both talent and years of practice... turns out, I don't need either--there's a "magic method". Who woulda thunk?!

  • This is someone who is actually making some sense,

breaking it down so we can all understand it ( well except for the fast speaking)

showing us a simple, yet effective way,

and he sounds english, (and englishmen are good entertainers). lol

  • awesome!

  • i got confused...

  • the lyrics dont have to make sence!

  • Lol this sounds like something from Inception, but Im gonna try it

  • his S's gave me a really bad headache in the first five seconds

  • The reason why this works is

when you look over something alot over a short space of time they naturally become a part of your subconcious mind. Which means you will probably dream about it. So you dream about the song, hear the song in your dream then you can write it

  • All you did was waste time the first minute of the video.

  • this guy sounds like richard hammond

  • This inspired me and all :) But.. I think your voice was a bit boring to me, try adding a bit of a bounce to it :) It interests people so much more xxx

  • i have one question...

    how do you gather materials

  • @xWhocaresxX

Writing down your thoughts about a subject.

  • i wrote song lyrics for my bro's and my band it was about when i got all puffy and there were spots all over me (sorta like the pleague)

  • I'd like to hear some of your songs that you write. Is there some where that I can?

  • I agree. This is a very inspiring tutorial series. I'd also like to hear the song.

After following the initial creative process, I've found it very helpful to set aside a rough song-sketch for a year, "forget about it" and then come back to it. Something in the rediscovery triggers a creative flood that is well worth the wait.

  • wait! WAT?

  • ha ha. . . u sound funny

  • Thanks this helped!

  • you make it sound so easy oh and by the way im a drummer that has no band so far so i cant do what you said ... "i just started playing on my guitar and it all fitted in" on drums it dont quiet work like that so what shall i do ??? :S

  • I suggest you start with the piano. If you don't have one, then go out and buy a cheap keyboard (try craigslist or ebay for a used one) and start working around the keyboard till something flows. The piano should be used by every musician not just as an instrument, but as a writing tool as well.

  • stage one is all well and good but i dont get how you put them together... even i can just sit there writing words down about my holiday, but i dont find it that easy :(

  • Sounds magical! I'm gonna have to attempt this.

  • pretty cool, I think I might actually make an effort to try this one... most of these crap- ass video makers can't tell their ass from a hoel in the ground, let alone help ME write a good song.

thanks man, great video my friend

  • I love the preamble to this section. It's worthy of a lyric itself. Eeeendless loop of frustration -the song.

  • I have no clue what to write about in stage one???

  • check out my tutorial on how to write lyrics :D

  • this is awesome.. a good way to start =)

  • thanks

  • Cool!

  • This actually works and is a much more logical way of song writing then most I've seen.

  • thanks you this was helpful
