it is an interesting FACT that there exists 10 time more evidence, not scriptual based, to prove Christ lived than the evidence that alexander the great lived. I believe they both lived. Why did the first Christians openly follow his teachings knowing full well that it almost certainly meant a cruel and violent death..would you follow something with that threat if you had any doubts about the validity.. no, and neither would i. If you give skeptics what they want on that quote then fine, let them take out what they think is forgery, it still states with everything "Skeptical" taken out of it.... Records that John the Baptist was killed by Herod, and that Johns ministry had involved a call to righteousness, virtue, piety, and baptism.
Records that Jesus existed, was virtuous, that many among the nations followed him, that Pilate had him crucified, and that the disciples immediately reported that he had risen from the dead.
Where was it said that this was conclusive evidence? There is no conclusive evidence....that is the way God set this thing up....its called Faith. We have eyewitness accounts (Gospels) and testimonials from people who saw the risen Christ (Paul and the cited "500" refererred to in Corinthians chapter 15)....the subsequent conversion of 10's of thousands who believed they would suffer eternal damnation is proof enough of this for me....the evidence is overwhelming if you take the time to view it.
OK..Yes you CAN use the Bible because Historians consider those records as much historical records as any other from history. Whether their used in the Bible or not is irrelevant.

For me,wouldn't guestion these sources because people who do this stuff for a living...Historians...consider these writings of Tacitus,Josephus,Plinius and Suetoniusas as accurate ,and get most of what they know of ancient Rome from these writers.

Josephus' account has interpolations. Show some evidence for that. The OLDEST copies of Josephus ,thus the most accurate, have the so called "interpolations". Thus HE wrote them...not Christians...what would Christians have to gain from this in the firts Place? The first historical mention of nazareth is in the 4th century a.d. There was certainly a town on the site of modern day nazereth going back some thousands of years. It doesn't really make a difference what town he came form anyway.

Well I have a First Class degree in History rfrom Lancaster University and my dissertation was in Semetic History so I suspect I am sufficiently educated in that regard thank you. A better example would be to use accounts of historical figures such as tutunkhamun (1341 BC 1323 BC) of which there are numerous accounts by historians at the time & many artifacts to support his existence, Or Alexander the great (336323 BC) another widely documented historical figure of which there are many accounts again by scholars of the time..
And yet with Jesus a man who supposedly walked on water & was widely known as a trouble maker throughout the Roman empire there is only the a few vague historical accounts that refer to a "Chrestus" which is a latin name that would be as popular as the name Christopher is today..
Then we come to the Bible who's authorship is questionable & has been mistranslated & changed many times over many different periods in history..

Alexander the Great didn't have any contemporary writers, nor did Apolonius of Tyana. I can go on and on. Jesus had the apostles. Contemporary writers is not mandatory in historical methodology.

Daniel 9:24-26 speaks about the appointed time of the Messiah. He had to come be crucified and resurrect on the third day before the destruction of the Second Temple. Yeshua (JESUS) was crucified, resurrected and ascended around 30 A.D. or 33 A.D. and later in 70 A.D., the Roman Army under General Titus smashed Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Jewish Temple in fulfillment of that prophecy.

Mathew makes a referance to King Herod to destroy all of the innocents which could be no later than 4 b.c. (after the birth of christ). Luke makes a referance to going to Caesar's census which could be no earlier than 6 a.d. (as caesar did not have control over the area till then)

If you did you would notice that the so called "testemonium" is a forgery(later christian interpolation) Taitus refers to Josephus, if Josephus didn't know historical Jesus, then Tacitus had never knew him etiher. All others refer to Josephus, thus there is no historical evidence of the real person Jesus.
so you have 24,000 written copies of the NT bible, oookay, and? It was promoted as the primary religion of a particular country and King James wanted to make sure one version of the bible would be out there so he had many scribes working on making copies of it.
If it was innacurate before the cannonizing made more biased post cannonizing and then written I fail to see how that's proof of anything. I'd be just as skeptical of alexander or ceasar but they have more sources than you list.

point being that just because someone copied it for political reasons after it was cannonized doesn't physically make it more credible.
Also scholars are reasonably convinced that the gospels were not eye witness accounts. Mark was given to the original copy but was not signed by mark. Mathew and luke both have different birth stories and describe different time periods for the birth. They all cannot be accurate.
SerpentSlayer: I would say they go maximum to 7-80 AD. All the gospels were obviously written after the Temple had been destoryed (that happened in 70 AD) In any case there was a very suspicious gap of 40 years of unexplained silence. Don't you think it's pretty strange?
question, is there any referances outside of the bible while Jesus was supposidly alive. by the way Josephus is held as highly likely of a fraud by schollars, Tacitus' referance is highly in question as well because of the very similar mistakes made in the Josephus referance. All of the same, none of these scribes were alive during the time of Jesus, I'd hardly consider that as real evidence.

Hi Myx; From my latest research into these claims of Josephus writings being tampered with I found that the claim is that the oldest manuscripts record josepheus sayng some unflattering things about Jesus and his following, like Plinys comments were. Its argued that Eusebius, Bishop of Caesarea,around 300AD doctored Josephus' comments about Jesus,making them possitve rather that negative.
At any rate,the point HERE is regardless, Josephus DID mention Jesus Christ,either in a good or bad light.
Name one other person who went by that title in the first century who was crucified by Pilate, and who had followers who were called Christians who were persecuted by Nero for allegedly burning down Rome. One other person.
Now, I know you didn't mean to say "Joshephus has proven to be a fake," but literally that is what you said. You probably meant to say: The mention of Christ in his work is a interpolation, but you are wrong. That's speculation, not fact. In order to prove it you'd need to find a copy of that work, preferably the original, minos the comment in question. Many scholars don't discount it's authenticity. Generally those who dismiss the comment will say anything to try and discredit Jesus Christ.
To add to the below, if you do want writings of someone who WAS alive with Jesus, then the look no fauther than the New Testiment Gospels. The early Church put those together,and read and followed them,EVEN while some of the people who witnessed Jesus were still alive.THIS attests to their accuracy!

it is an interesting FACT that there exists 10 time more evidence, not scriptual based, to prove Christ lived than the evidence that alexander the great lived. I believe they both lived. Why did the first Christians openly follow his teachings knowing full well that it almost certainly meant a cruel and violent death..would you follow something with that threat if you had any doubts about the validity.. no, and neither would i. People didnt live in a tolerant society then, unlike ours now..

Those people were true followers of the Holy God of Isreal. I would do the same if i ment JEsus christ the son of God.

As his focus is primarily on an aqueduct project in the region, he wrote of Jesus who had cause no small stir among the Jews-who were a grievance to him, and as such gave him some amusement to his existence.

Has the video says these are examples OUTSIDE the Bible.Early Historians and church leaders had the sence to put the FIRST EYE WITNESSES of Christ in the BIBLE,....the Gosplel writers and Jesus' followers.
Just as a side note,the writers of other figures of history that we get info from about the likes of Alexander the Great and Ceaser,lived at least 300 years AFTER those they wrote about.

If you want evidence that these people existed, Google their name. if you still don't believe that these people existed or wrote what they wrote, the only way I could prove it then could be by going back in time together, and watching them write these things, but yet again, if you want to take that route, how would you prove that Edgar Allen Poe wrote Raven? Or Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote The Scarlet letter?

I agree with you that 'one' of the quotes of josephus 'may' have been a forgery, but not all of them. He mentions James, christians, Christ, etc... You can't claim that all his quotes of christianity were forgery. The evidence is overwhelming. Atheists will never accept it, regardless. That's why they're atheists

That Josephus quote that "may" be forged is actually not completely true. Skeptics have only been able to say that some of it was forgery not all of it. If you give skeptics what they want on that quote then fine, let them take out what they think is forgery, it still states with everything "Skeptical" taken out of it.... Where was it said that this was conclusive evidence? There is no conclusive evidence....that is the way God set this thing up....its called Faith. We have eyewitness accounts (Gospels) and testimonials from people who saw the risen Christ (Paul and the cited "500" refererred to in Corinthians chapter 15)....the subsequent conversion of 10's of thousands who believed they would suffer eternal damnation is proof enough of this for me....the evidence is overwhelming if you take the time to view it.

For me,wouldn't guestion these sources because people who do this stuff for a living...Historians...consider these writings of Tacitus,Josephus,Plinius and Suetoniusas as accurate ,and get most of what they know of ancient Rome from these writers.
Why would we take what they say about one thing true and not something else...unless we dident WANT to accept what they were just recording.

Josephus' account has interpolations. Show some evidence for that. The OLDEST copies of Josephus ,thus the most accurate, have the so called "interpolations". to my understanding there is the same amounts of evidence for other great historical figures (if not less) that for jesus, also to point out that most historians (even the atheist ones) do not arguee on the fact that there was a historical jesus, they just argue as to whether he was the son of God, or just a man.

Take George Washington for instance. We know he lived because we have his own writings, his speeches, numerous eyewitnesses, records of his life, his family, his body...what do we have of jesus?

The first historical mention of nazareth is in the 4th century a.d. There was certainly a town on the site of modern day nazereth going back some thousands of years. It doesn't really make a difference what town he came form anyway.

Daniel 9:24-26 speaks about the appointed time of the Messiah. He had to come be crucified and resurrect on the third day before the destruction of the Second Temple. Yeshua (JESUS) was crucified, resurrected and ascended around 30 A.D. or 33 A.D. and later in 70 A.D., the Roman Army under General Titus smashed Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Jewish Temple in fulfillment of that prophecy.

Mathew makes a referance to King Herod to destroy all of the innocents which could be no later than 4 b.c. (after the birth of christ). Luke makes a referance to going to Caesar's census which could be no earlier than 6 a.d. (as caesar did not have control over the area till then)

If you did you would notice that the so called "testemonium" is a forgery(later christian interpolation) Taitus refers to Josephus, if Josephus didn't know historical Jesus, then Tacitus had never knew him etiher. All others refer to Josephus, thus there is no historical evidence of the real person Jesus.

so you have 24,000 written copies of the NT bible, oookay, and? It was promoted as the primary religion of a particular country and King James wanted to make sure one version of the bible would be out there so he had many scribes working on making copies of it.
If it was innacurate before the cannonizing made more biased post cannonizing and then written I fail to see how that's proof of anything. I'd be just as skeptical of alexander or ceasar but they have more sources than you list.

point being that just because someone copied it for political reasons after it was cannonized doesn't physically make it more credible.
Also scholars are reasonably convinced that the gospels were not eye witness accounts. Mark was given to the original copy but was not signed by mark. Mathew and luke both have different birth stories and describe different time periods for the birth. They all cannot be accurate.

question, is there any referances outside of the bible while Jesus was supposidly alive. by the way Josephus is held as highly likely of a fraud by schollars, Tacitus' referance is highly in question as well because of the very similar mistakes made in the Josephus referance. His "Annals" were written in circa 116 CE, if Christ died circa 33 CE this is a huge gap.
Moreover, the authenticity and reliability is highly contested.

Hi Myx; From my latest research into these claims of Josephus writings being tampered with I found that the claim is that the oldest manuscripts record josepheus sayng some unflattering things about Jesus and his following, like Plinys comments were. Its argued that Eusebius, Bishop of Caesarea,around 300AD doctored Josephus' comments about Jesus,making them possitve rather that negative.
At any rate,the point HERE is regardless, Josephus DID mention Jesus Christ,either in a good or bad light.

You probably meant to say: The mention of Christ in his work is a interpolation, but you are wrong. That's speculation, not fact. In order to prove it you'd need to find a copy of that work, preferably the original, minos the comment in question. Many scholars don't discount it's authenticity. Generally those who dismiss the comment will say anything to try and discredit Jesus Christ.

Thats coming from a christian defender and u can plainly see that he thought jesus was similair to the pagan religions. And his explaination was the devil saw christianity come and constructed jesus' attributs in the pagan world.

You use religion to explain things you don't understand, it's the cowards way out, like you don't want to accept that after ur dead thats it. Ur evidence is from a copied story book which is backed by opinions, the story book being the bible, so don't u tell me i'm the one that has to give evidence. The Horus story is a hyroglith(spelling :/) in stone in egypt. Thats roch solid evidence and everything else fits.

These are not opinions, and what exactly did i say that was an opinion? It's obvious but like the corrupt law systems we have common sense doesn't come into it. Anyone who disagrees is part of the problem.

U think think that i need evidence? Plus what the romans wrote was very brief, these sources not in the bible, what proof do i need to provide? They mentioned just 'chirst' which is only a title and not a name and the josephus one is a fake. If u had done ur research u would know this. You can say the same about urself only accepting one they want to accept.

What exactly is an opinion? It's a though that people go out of their way to proof is right if they really believed in it, i just scratched the surface my friend. There is TONS of evidence to what i said. The story of horus is written in pictures in fucking stone. U know the pictures i'm no about that the ancient egyptians did. Dates and names can easily be changed.

So you would expect the romans to develop these things such as the darkness and jesus himself. And i can proove that jesus didnot exist because there was no historical evidence for any historian that mentioned 'jesus christ' and not just 'christ', and do you know why? Because when u add everything up there are very high odds jesus did not exist at all, he is but a plagurised form of the egyptian sun god horus.

Guess one only accepts what they WANT to accept,whatever the evidence in the contrary. Its like looking up at the sky and still insisting that the sun does not exsist.
I find it absoultly incredable that you would deni even what historians vouch to..that everyone of the mentioned people of history ,in the Video are indeed recorded figures of history.
Just google them if you dont believe me.

Strobel used to be an Atheist until he started investigating the claims of Christ and Christianity. He asked the same questions you do. You should really check out what hes got to say.

For a good laugh at the expense of the Christ-deniers, go to "Secrets of Life and Ancient Knowledge (part 10)". Here the authors of "The Pharmacratic Inquisition" make the ridiculous argument that the biblical phrase "...rivers of living water..." refers to drinking pee that contains traces of the Amanita Muscaria mushroom! lol These people have zero credibility.

The first one, Tacitus did perhaps not write the passage about an anointed man (did not name Jesus), and is considered that it had been added by christians some time later
Then you have some references all talking about christians and none that actually say Jesus, only 'an anointed man'
Well not none, there is one pretty good. The only reference which you actually should have mentioned in this video as it names 'Lord Jesus'
So you might want to shorten your video to include only Martyr

gummi666...Sorry, but words you use such as "perhaps" just dont cut it in debating. You offer no proof, dates or writings to back up your statments.
Alot of the anti-Biblical, Christ Mythers fill their books and videos with Opinions back by other Opinions.
They seem to live by the creed of not wanting to confuse the debate by including facts.

the cosmologist who have left atheism for their new belief in creation are ruled out by atheist because they are creationist. same as the bible since they are believers you must rule their writings out. So I guess only agnostics are alloweed to practice science.
also the writers of the bible knew of the commandment thou shalt not bear false witness. Something atheist have no reason to adhere to.
