  • Im not sure who your instructor is but this pattern looks better than most I have seen on here by far. You have a pretty good grasp of hip-twist and power as opposed to the bulk of these awful forms on youtube. Kudos man..keep it up.

  • I do the original 20 patterns of the system before the term TKD was ever thought of. The newer forms, jurche, moonmoo, euiam, ect are not any good for self defense. They were made to enhance the individual kicking abilities, not a bad thing but I perfer the actual SD and fighting aspects better.

PS. Nice form, but get out of that Signwave crap!

  • Dear Sir,

Way to self educate to keep the tradition of Chang Heon alive - - - In responce to the sign wave comments... there was no sine wave at the time of Ko-dang or any of the original 20 hyung!

    TAEKWON!

  • Nice job. I like your back piercing kicks. Many do the kick like a side kick.

  • Nicely done man good job snap was on, good flow with power, not to much different then how I do ko dang, keep doing your thang great job !!!!!!

  • I dont usually comment on vids, buttttt, i seen a few vids of 'kodang' on youtube and I wanted to say this is ONE of VERY few I actually like, thanks for posting.

  • I think you tensed too early in some of your movements, you should tense at the end of the movement. For example in the knifehand guarding blocks at the end. Are those vertical kicks or hooking kicks in the pattern? I think the pattern was done a little too fast as well. I think you should complete each movement before moving on to the next one. But then I don't know if the pattern is supposed to be done that way. In my school, the Jamaica Taekwondo Association we don't do kodang anymore.

  • A little different in spots than my school/federation's practice of Ko-Dang (I'm a USTF III Dan, this is a 'retired' pattern for us, but we're still learning it for promotion to 4th Dan). I noticed a few hand techniques were different, and at the end the 2nd hooking kick should have had hands left in the position as for the other kick, but not bad overall! I know III Dans who don't do this good..

  • Man, this is a disgrace, your insulting the ancient form created by Master Choi Hung Hi and just changing it, thats like spitting in his face, im not tryin to be mean but it is like that.

  • I'm not gonna make the assumption that you don't train in the art of TKD or know any of it's history but from your comment that's how you come off. "Master" is a term given to Sa yung nim/Chung sa nim (7-9 dan). We refer to the founder as Do joo nim/Kwa jang nim or the General. As for the "ancient" art: TKD & the pattern Ko dang is approx. 54 yrs old. Hardly ancient. And finally I've changed/added nothing just taken teachings from different instructions since the form was omitted from ITF tuls.

  • If anything I'm attempting to keep the art alive by learning a tul that was taken away from most TKD practitioners by the political powers that were at the time (There is a reason for 24 patterns) who wanted an extra tul to represent N. Korea. Yannisholla I am not tryin to be mean in this response, just trying to educate. If you wish to continue to discuss this topic further I am more then willing. TKD has been a way of life for me for the past 13yrs. I would never "spit" in it's face. Taekwon!

  • ehh, how specifically is he insulting ko-dang? How is he changing the general's form specifically? (BTW- it's GENERAL CHOI HONG HI I believe, or Grandmaster CHOI, not Choi Hung Hi but I'm nitpicking)...

it wasn't a bad pattern at all...

  • @YANNISHOLLA . I'm a third degree black belt in Taekwondo and have various different black belts in severl different styles of martial arts. And in all of them you and your comments would be thrown out of the DoJo. You are a disgrace to your master and grandmaster for even posting a comment such as that if you even study martial arts. Get a life young man! I say that because your comment shows you age. idiot!

  • @YANNISHOLLA General Choi adopted Juche in place of Ko-Dang as a way of appeasing N. Korea... Juche was developed by Grandmaster Park Jung Tae and performed for the first time in public by Grandmaster Choi Jung Hwa..... quite frankly your ignorance on a subject you are trying to be an authority on is astounding ...

Good pattern tho... we practice Ko-Dang in GTF instead of Juche... and unlike certain ITF orgs it aint Juche renamed :P lol

  • It's a little different than the way I practice Ko Dang, but not by much. The most notable difference is that I do not use the sine wave format. I'll post my version for you at some point soon just for fun. Take what you like, leave the rest. Our organization uses all 25 traditionals (Eui Am, Ko Dang, Choong Jang, and Juche are all in our set). Rather than pick and choose, we just said, "Screw it, lets do 'em all!" :) I say the more the merrier!

  • Thanks for the comments. Looking forward to seeing some of ur patterns on Vid. Esp. Juche (Saw some of ur sparring u have nice kicks) so i can see ur split kick. And thanks again.

  • ugly form....very stiff..should learn Baiji

  • pretty good!!! =] i am in the TAGB and we practice this pattern as part of our standard curriculum. one point i would say, is try to avoid "bobbing" too much. sine wave is a natural motion, going from one stance(start of wave - low) then stepping, raising the body to gain mass (highest point of wave) then dropping again into the final stance (end of wave). many ITF stylists go up-down-up-down, instead of just up-down, this slows down techniques meaning not as much power is gained.

  • dang mr.floyd!

    you got that.

  • so much Hip Torque..... leard the traditional way man... to much wased energy... its all supposed to be natural... that is great job... all that crap before was true though check out the channel...Shonikwondo
