@DRAGONGOLFER93 I've been told that they were genetically made this way for science purposes..it is not natural though they do breed this way naturally now.
Think of that mouse they grew an ear on it's back..it's the same thing.
It made me sad when I found out their origin but I love them to bits.
Mine lived for three years. Their story is a sad one..they were bred to be hairless because labs used them to grow prosthetic ears and they were used for testing. Then reptile owners breed them for easier to digest food. Pita published an article about them . They are sweet and awesome pets...I miss my lillth :(

i had 2 that seemed to always be attracted to warm towels, and i could never find them for an hour or so and guess where they were, in my laundry
