college conspiracy: in my university we can get student loans, but we MUST pay it before we can enrol in the following semester. I do think that is better than getting all of them piled up.

I really don't get how capitalists go to bed without their conscience keeping them awake...and it's a lot bothersome now since politicians are the capitalists. the same is true in my country, it has been happening even before i was born and it saddens me to see how much people don't seem to care anymore.

oh lord i know this! because at the end of the day i didnt achieve sucess what i learnt was how to keep a job and work for low end salaries etc and i went to top schools while education ... using ur brains thinking outside of the box.. better that will make you successful.. not some college name. all you do is put yourself in debt and then you have to work at some job that has ntn to do with what u went to sch for. buy into the system crap

yup the education system has become a joke.. i mean i can only speak from when i started going to school and then watching the changes every year .. the passing grades get less and less.. certain classes/courses are "dumbed down" and when you leave school.. you really havent learnt anything..

But the society they suggest is still very vague...so there's that. There are plenty of things about it that wasn't mentioned. Like the government or what will happen next if they do set a society like it...or maybe it was mentioned but i was just too stoned after watching for two hours (I'm not really a fan of TV and movies so I wasn't used to watching that long) LOL :D

About the Zeitgeist documentary, I do think it's like a communist setting. What's great about it is that it raises a lot of issues of corruption of the government and other big names out for the public. It also gives other ways to help reduce the deterioration of nature(which I love). I read something about money a long time ago with the same views from the documentary...and I agree - like in WWII, you can't even buy a potato with a wheel barrow full of cash.

4. i honestly thought this video was so long and that you should go to college to get an degree so you could get a good job that pays great so you could be successful . but my father told me that back then you didnt have to have a degree to get a job and he said" America is changing every second of the day" i would recommend this so people could learn that going to college is good so you could get a degree and get a job

5. I honestly did not watch the full length of this video, I'm sorry I don't have the time to. What I did watch however prompted me to really think about the idea that environment might predispose someone to certain behaviours instead of genetics. It is more favoured that you are predisposed to anything because of heredity, but could that really be a scapegoat for not accepting the responsibility of our surroundings? Hmmm, very thought provoking. I bookmarked that video to watch later. Thanks!

4. My husband and I always talk about this. Our parent's generation was really the last one that could actually NOT have a college degree and get ahead and move up by hard work and merit. That is not the case today. You HAVE to have a college degree to even get an interview now. It doesn't matter if you have the experience or knowledge, so long as you have the piece of paper. That is worthless and why we have so many brainless drones in powers of position today! Ridiculous!

3. I hadn't heard of Michael Savage before this clip. I asked my husband who he was (he is more up on politics than I am) and he told me he was very famously right-wing. The clip didn't really inspire much in me because it was so short and mainly focused on Obama being Photoshopped as a clown. I would much rather have heard more about what Savage was saying than looked at the silly image personally. I agree there is a huge difference in education between the generations though.

2. George Carlin is a very funny societal comedian I have enjoyed for many years. I disagree with a lot he says, but he is very entertaining and I think evokes some thought into people who might not have been interested in the subject matter had it not been in a comedic forum. The problem with education cannot solely be placed on the government though. There is also a disgusting lack of desire to actually teach! They show up, collect their check and get summers off. No passion to actual teach!

1. I totally agree! The decline of society as a whole, and the American family dynamic occurred when the TV started to be in every household! My husband and I always comment on how kids of this generation never play outside or use imagination anymore because they are so sucked into video games and mass media! Everything is instantaneous and virtual, that they don't earn things or experience "real" life! The obesity rate in children now...being sedentary in front of a video game does that!

Michael Savage - Response - This clip is very short, but it's a TOTAL catalyst for thinking. I'm in college and I feel like several of the things that we are learning are informative, but somehow, like you said, they don't feed creativity. This all reminds me of a quote from Albert Einstein, a believer in the power of creativity, "Logic will take you from point A to point B, but imagination will take you everywhere." Society has lost it's ability to imagine, losing its only hope for betterment.

George Carlin - Response - Though very comical, Carlin's cynical point of view rings more truthfully everyday. He's absolutely right about everything. I've never thought of things in this perspective, but I somehow get the feeling that instead of thinking positively, I'm in a glass half-empty scenario. The suicide pyramid was genius. His layers of hopeless people were so ironic and I couldn't help but look upon my own life and wonder if I belong there. Or if someone I love belongs there?

Dumbing Down America - Response - It's fresh in my mind and I have to say, I am awe-struck. I'm sitting here trying to process that everything they just said is true. It makes complete and total sense and it's completely frightening. All these questions keep running through my mind: How do I break free from this "bubble"? Do I even want to break free?
