I,i search for a portable CNC router, i have a 4x8 CNC router, but i search a small one to make show in school your's are perfect for that, if you've got plans or hand made blueprint i'm interested, nice song two but anoying.
I have a CNC motor controller 3 axis Toshiba TB6560AHQ and 3 BS57HB56-03 Stepper Motors but when I power up the systems after while my motors “gets hot” without using them (in non operational mode) is that any normal?
Do you know if Mach3 v R1.83 can work with USB to Parallel port converting pluck? Because I have a laptop with no Parallel port so I bought a USB to Parallel port converting plucks “any suggestions welcome”
No doubt dude, great looking machine and I rarely ever compliment a builder using wood for a cnc frame, but your design is brilliant. Put some wheels on it and grab a laptop and u got one heck of a portable cnc machine.
That is one great looking machine... but it is ruined by by the leadscrew wobble you got going.... just get a set of damn step up adapter! (what do the neighbors think about you running it outside? :-D
thanks for the feedback DavidCousins. This was my 1st real taste in CNC, already bought an 8 start 1/2" acme for my next machine and about to order new Dumpster nuts. Will most likely look into better stepper/thread connections. I'm planning on starting the build in September.
I'm using a 4 axis Xylotex controller and their 269oz steppers.
Having an open table opens up for potentials, like allowing it to be mounted directly over a table top to router the top directly. But I'm planning on taking it a step further on my next CNC project later this fall (portable "backpack" 4 axis)
That design reminds me of something the flintstones would of had...made of old brown dinosaur bones.Very cool ,my son loves it too.

Absolutely beautiful CNC design, You should make PDF machine plans and sell them on the internet. (-;
The Pinball song for this clip is very annoying.

Yes, I would have preferred a narrative about why you made the choices you did with your machine instead of the music.

beautiful work. i'm finishing my 2 axis machine, wich is more of a demo for a diploma project. however, if it behaves decent, i'll add one more axis.
again, excelent work

Amazing machine. It's a work of art! I've seen a lot of DIY CNC machines, and your is amazing. I have two comments.
1. Replace your Acme screws with a 5 start 1/2 acme. You'll need new Dumpster Nuts too.
2. Replace the Acme to Stepper connectors with a good set of LoveJoy connectors. What you have right now will slip pretty easily.
Again. Beautiful machine.

What Steppers and controller are being used?
BlazedForever 2 years ago
I like the idea of using two screws/motors for the y axis. Frees up some room and adds stability to get the x axis fro getting crooked.
