Hey PGS! Massive love for your channel, You've been a massive help with pedal reviews and Andy's demos are always golden. I've actually got a question, I've got a strat (who doesn't) Japan 1990 as my main axe, and I'm looking for humbuckers to compliment, or at least something fatter like P90s. At the mo it's between this Tele Black dove, the Thinline Deluxe with twin HBs, or an Gibson SG 60's trib? What best compliments a strat? Also, where are the two fender models made? which guitar's pickups are better on the deluxe for chord/rythym stuff. The P-90 or the Wide Range Humbuckers. Why? I personally like Eddie Vedders tele with P-90's, but I have not been able to hear one of these in person, and surprisingly no a lot of videos online compared to the 72 deluxe.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never heard anyone make a p90 guitar sing the way a Strat, Les Pual, or even a standard Tele will. Is this the guitars fault, the amps, or the players. Otherwise, I think p90s are epic, and this was an awesome demo!

I got a vintage 73 tele deluxe for half price about 8 yrs ago. The electronics weren't original and the body was routed in the centre. The first thing I did was have a p90 in the bridge and two texas specials in the neck and middle with a 5way strat switch. Its the most versatile guitar I've owned.

in a way..... they're single coils, but they do sound fatter compared to the usual Fender-type single coils.

I've got ta Tele Custom II - the Squier version of this model - which is unbelievably good for a £200 guitar. I'm naturally curious as to how tthe fender will compare. I'll have to try one out sometime.... maybe when the bank balance says yes. :)

i am not really into humbuckers now , i rather play single coil guitars . The guys who think a fat , inexpressive "modern metal" tone is ballsy must try a telecaster and a cranked twin.They just will know what business guitar is really about:delicate nuances , from gentle whispers to roaring loud-as-hell tones . All of it by just changing the way you play

That Mary Jane riff was played wrong, as was the intro to Brown Sugar. If you're going to play well-known riffs in a demo, at least get them right.

On another note, I had an SOS with the Black Doves, and they are NOTHING like real P90's.

You want affordable P90 tone, buy an import Reverend.

@Hoodrio That's the point... they are NOT supposed to be like other P90's. They're made to be different, and they sound great for what they are... a P90 style PU that still maintains some classic Fender tone. If you want Gibson P90 tone, buy a Gibson, if you want Fender Black Dove tone, buy Fender, if you want Fralin, TVJones... you get the point. Not to mention the effect of pots, caps, scale length ...
