I had a lovely dinner with Mrs. Dean in April 14 of 2007, the same date Titanic sank,on the last White star line ship the Nomadic wich brought passenger aboard Titanic in Chergbourg France on April 12 1912,She was a very nice lady.
She was the last survivor if the Titanic, and it's shameful and disrespectful that she had to sell her belongings, and the things her parents, she and her brother had before, on and after the dissaster! I think that she NEVER should have to sell all ov it just to pay £300 for her nursinghome! She should have been allowed to live there for free, or at least much cheaper when she was who she was! The LAST survivor should be respected that much!
@kewlgrl20 she was only two months she was with her brother he was 2 years old and her fther and mother she survived and her brother and he mother her mome died in 1975 and her broter in 1995
Yes she was 2 months and he was 2 years and I was reffering to him as her baby brother to emphasize his infancy with hers in the loss of their father... Thanks for pointing out the important part of the story...
That is a sad! Having to sell her belongings for health care...:-( We struggle and pay, pay, pay, all through life and at the end of it all, we give whatever we may have to the health care system! Something VERY wrong in this country!
you know, life can be long or short. we can live one second or 100 plus years.. some humans die because of abortion.. this lady escaped a terrible tragedy but thankfully lived on... god bless her.. god forgive those who kill unborn humans...
I wanna check out on my toilet just cause I think it would be funny..I went to the Titanic exhibit in o-town... it was really cool your ticket had someone's name on it and at the end you found out if you lived or died... I died...
Yes, it is sad.. but unfortunately the reality, these days.. and I suppose there's no way the Nursing Home can cover the cost for her. After all, they're running a business, not really a CARE home.. :(
So very very sad..this says a lot about the health care system. Why doesn't the government step in and help her..these articles are tangible memories of the past for her.
Most of us face this I suspect... Unless we are lucky enough to pass quickly without fanfare... Fortunately I have a boat and it has a plug to be pulled...
I hate money!

If you think these jokes are bad, you should see what Jimmy Fallon said the day after she died
*warning* This joke is in extremely poor taste
"Millvina Dean, the last survivor of the Titanic, died yesterday at 97. She died doing what she does best treading water."
yeah, classy Fallon

it did hit an ice burg. But the Titanic could've avoided disaster by building it strongly built not poorly built.

Holding on to those possessions was worth it. I guess there is a payoff for the packrat mentality...

I see she made £30,000.00 - still lost her pssessions though

Wow... I still think it was wrong she had to sell them but healthcare is a business no mistaking that eh....

Nursing home, ugh! Is that what I got to look forward to? I can't imagine any of my younger siblings will be looking out for me. I guess
I better come up with a plan now. Better pack my suit case now and plan my trip to Iceland or something.

you are wrong. bertram vere dean (her brother) was in fact 2 years older than millvina, not the other way around. learn your facts
