frat64, the American ending was neat; it explained everything. but the UK ending absolutely took my breath away! no way would our network execs have the balls to do to Sam what the Brits did with him in the last ep. i'd recommend giving the UK version another shot because ours was a PALE imitation

I agree the ending was inventive and surprising. It was cool that they had the courage to - supported by the British creators - take the ending to a totally different place. The literal use of "life on Mars" and the name Gene Hunt was interesting.

They also used elements familiar to UK viewers eg the Frank Morgan character and took it in a new direction. BTW Frank Morgan is the actor who played the Wizard and his Kanzas counterpart in The Wizard of Oz - I love those subtle touches.

Think that this video is great! I think that the song fits in with Sam's predicament of being stuck out of his comfort zone if that makes sense and being stuck in the middle of things that go wrong! Sam knows that Gene is right even if Gene goes about things the wrong way he gets results!! Long live The Jean Genie!!
