I think Kate and the whole Rusby family are fantastic, if you look hard enough you can find several snipets of a documentary they did for channel 4.

If you find them are you are able to appreciate the story behind Kates song "My Young Man" which is a song about her Grand Parents which is the most sincere brilliant song about a family I have ever heard. It has no equal,

I'm 14 and my friends all think this sort of music is rubbish, but it really shows that England actually has talent, rather than the stuff that is in the charts at the moment (Hip-hop, pop, R&B etc.), which a lot of it isn't even English anyway, who get autotuned and/or don't play their own instruments. This is beautiful, and she has REAL talent!

I was using the tv remote as most blokes do and I heared a voice that was in the backing track of a program about the Yorkshire Dales. I found who this singer was using the credits of the program. Within two weeks I have bought her DVD Live from leeds and I have my tickets for the Halifax gig May 14th. What a talented lady and being a Yorkshireman myself I smile when she sings in a Barnsley accent, wonderful.

@AthenaJarman Good for you. I was the same when I was young, I listened to a load of songs that others didn't. I am 33 years old now and still a lot hasn't changed. When it comes to music it is important not to follow the crowd but to follow your heart. Kate Rusby is an amazing singer.

@AthenaJarman Go Girl I was like you. At 14 I got into the Carpenters...was unheard of. I'm 36. She died at 32 and I dont remember them out there. I am sad she died and I love their music. Karen Carpenter has the voice of all time and I was bulimic and saw a film and she changed my life...I was a teenager when I first recall her voice and the Carpenters sound. Richard gets forgotten but he was the real talent behind the Carpenters..check them out you'll see what I mean with some insight

@Maksimfan This. My love of folk will last forever. When I was younger I was somewhat ridiculed over it, but it didn't matter. Folk music is wonderful and this track makes me feel like I'm floating on air.

It may only be one note on one string, but it makes a significant difference to instrument and the chord voicings.
