Hey man, thanks again for all your guitar vids, esp. this one. I posted a vid of me playing in this tuning, I'd love some feedback.
Its one thing to copy Keith's riffs, its a whole other thing to try to invent your own that "work" in the same way. After nearly 4 years of playing, I think I finally have started to get a handle on this style of guitar playing.
that was pretty sweet, i always keep a guitar in open g cuz of keith, can you post some stuff on some newer stones songs... love is strong, you got me rocking, rock and a hard place, ect
you don't happen to have even a rough tab of this, do you? for sale? a website or anything? i play open g a lot but am pretty much stuck in a blues thing. I don't use the word awesome very often, but this was fucking awesome. i know you must be a big keith fan, but keith couldn't play this. you've passed your hero.
Thank you so much for your kind appreciation! Unfortunately, I have no tabs, this was pure improvisation. I started playing open G 3 months before recording this video. My advice is : just try different things see how it sounds, that's the way I "found out" about those licks, I can't even read music. My secret might be, I play a lot of air strings (fret 0), that's the purpose of an open tuning. Thanks very much!!!
I use this tuning a lot myself. Jimmy Page used it alot and on quite a few songs. I've writen a lot of acoustic stuff in open G and some on electric too. One of my fav tunings to use! Cool video!
It's a japanese TL52-80SPL Telecaster, based on 52 reissue, with a humbucker in the neck position just like Keith Richards' famous Telecaster, "Micawber"
Killer improv.. just googled Open G Licks and this came up.. guess i won't be tuning my guitar back to standard just yet...!

Do you have your action set to play slide or is this just a normal setup?

@CAGETHEELEPHANTCOVER
Normal setup on this one, in fact quite low action. Thanks for watching!
