I've seen both Japanese and Korean version. I favored the Japanese by far but ....Lee Min Ho stole my heart while watching the Korean. I can honestly say he's my favorite Korean actor, not only because of his looks, but because the way he portrayed Jun Pyo made me want to watch the show. If it wasnt for him, Id have stopped watching the show in the earlier episodes. And Oguri Shun is the PERFECT Rui. Ji Hoo was terrible. Ughh.
@LovelyMNGurl02 Live versions weren't bad, but I agree that the manga is best. It's rare to enjoy live versions when you're already attached to manga or even anime.... at least, that's the case with me.
First, i read the manga hana yori dango, then watched the anime, then watched the taiwanese version, then watched the japanese version and finally i watched the korean version. I've seen all of the hana yori dango versions and i must say that i like all of them! Each hana yori dango version has a unique take on it. I like each version and i like all the F4's and tsukushi's in all the different versions. =]

When Makino punches Domyoji in the face, I was cheering and laughing cause all the great, climatic events leading up to that point. When Jan Di "kicked" Joon Pyo in the face, it just didn't seem realistic and logical to do. #thetruth
I think both the Korean and Japanese version are awesome! Both have their good and bad parts for example Makinos/Geum Jan Dis family in the Japanese version is way better but I prefer the Korean version of Domyojis/Goo Joon Pyos mother. So I really cant decide which one is better :P I love both :)

I never skipped one episode for the Japanese HYD but for the korean version, I skipped quite a few episodes as it got boring. But I guess to each of his/her own, everyone focuses on different aspects when watching the drama so some may not share the same opinions as me.
The Jap version wins in terms of plot, acting and script. ;)

but i will have to pick the japanese version hana yori dango because meteor garden was WAY too dramatic. boys before flowers well the girl is quite plain (sorry) and the acting seems a little cheezy. so i pick this because it gets to the main point of the story and i like the fact that they were going to have a baby at the end.:)

I <3 the music from HYD & BOF - Makino is better than Geum Jan Di (in my opinion) Domyouji is better than Goo Joon Pyo, but lee min hoo is better than Jun matsumoto (he acts better than him) When I saw HYD for the first time, fell in love with domyoji (figuratively of course:D) He was more childlike & that made him so sympathically
I like the koren version better but the japanese was also good. what i Like about the koren version the cast with the japanese i felt they rushed into the plot to fast. but on the other hand the koren version maked me cry like almost the whole show and it was kind of annoying when she wouldnt tell him how she felt. she just let everyone walk all over her that was really annoying if i was her i would slap a bitch if she tryed to take my man. lol
I've Only Seen A Bit Of Japanese And Full Korean. F4 Japan Made Me Laugh The Most, But F4 Korea Simply Gave Me Mixed Emotion...Sadness and Happiness. I Only Felt Pity For Japanese Rui, But The Korean Rui Made Me Fell In Love With Him (I'm Not A Fan Of Kim Hyun Joong). The Korean Tsukasa was funny, the Japanese one was funnier with his broken English and Japanese....I Honestly Almost Cried During Korean Version.
Watched all of them the best in terms of the acting is HYD I love BOF but and the cast apart from the girl we're great for me the best girl was HYD between Lee min ho and Wu its a crime to choose between them and kim hyun joong and Oguri shun generally I enjoyed all

I've watched all versions, Taiwan, Korean, and Japanese and they all made me cry, honestly. But NO OFFENSE, Hana Yori Dango, the japanese version, is the best in my opinion. Perfect cast, Perfect lines, perfect drama. It's the BEST DRAMA I've ever watched and I'm never gonna change that. :)
Taiwan and Korea may have the hottest F4...but Japanese is amazing HYD live action ever made...the storyline ,acting, chemistry and ost is just superb and excellent..
I don't know which one Is better but I think boys over flower got the handsomest boy! And I think the girls in the japanese version is beautiful and the girl in the Korean version isn't that pretty but she cute! The girl in the Taiwanese version is pretty. I'll go for the boy in "Boys over flower!" I'll go for the cute main girl in boys over flower'
Hana Yori Dango was probably the best, with Meteor Garden as a close second (if you skip 75% of season 2), and then Boys over flowers...the acting wasn't as good.
what ever remaked of hana yori dango, the japanese version much way better. i've watched all versions and there was no doubt J.version is my fav. the acting were natural n felt like im in the drama with them...<3 never get bored.

I Think Rui's character was so sweet, romantic , kind yet tough at the same time. I Love How Rui can play the violin. I Was madly in love with Rui, when I watched the Korean version...I myself Don't like Hyun Joong that much.
Taiwanese version!!!! Meteor garden 1 D chemistry of dao ming si and shan cai isss tooo much to handle and f4 are very good looking i love all of them esp ximen or ken zhu Its like u wont be sleeping coz u want not to missed the part!! Love them they hit the whole asia!!! Big time!!!
The Taiwanese version gets to me b/c season 1 is seriously faithful to the manga and made me cry like no other show/movie combined but the acting's pretty bad whereas Hana Yori Dango (Japanese version) was awesome! and BOF was great but did focus too much on looks.
It's unfortunate that MatsuJun was not looking his best in HYD. He's usually Mr. flawless Jun in other appearances xDD
He was juggling 2 variety shows, hosting a music show, promoting his band's newest single and album, practicing for a rowing competition with his band, AND filming HYD all at the same time! Poor guy's skin was tired-looking throughout HYD because of that... >_> And that ugly perm did not help.
He went back to being flawless in HYD second season and movie though; thank god
@Aprillis29 Wow, really? I completely disagree. He looked awesome. I don't like straight, side-swept hair and I remember thinking how great his skin looked! He was flawless but I'm so impressed with his work-ethic right now. At first I thought "ugh, he's short and ugly" and ended up falling head-over-heels obsessively in love with him <3 he's so adorable.
@femmefatale1990 Well if you watch him in the Rowing miniseries in Mago Mago Arashi, which was parallel with HYD filming, there was a glimpse of him without makeup on and his cheeks were ravaged with breakouts. It was pretty bad. It calmed down right after finishing HYD though, so now his skin is fine :)
Well, I never thought Jun was short -- he's average height, but Oguri Shun and Matsuda Shota are tall guys so he appeared short in comparison. And he was *really* beautiful in Boku Imouto...
Well for me i've read the manga, seen the anime, the 1995 movie,& all 4 versions. My Personal view is that they are all the same but different at the same time. in the chinese version h4(f4) had a different name&they werent friends since kinder. The korean goes more into how Ji Hoo&Jan Di relationship is there was no Jun-pyo. They all have the love story line with Sojiroh and Yuki and express it different but in the end, but exactly the same. so no hate love them all (:<3 BigFan!
I'd watched all the four versions of this (Jap, kor, taiwan, china) still the japanese is the best...! though the f4 is not that good looking like the rest versions still their story line is well organized and clear...BEST ENDING btw

@meganification17 I know all that :) I've seen them like 10X but what I was trying to say was that Japan made the manga, made the first F4 drama series, and made a special movie where they go and find the "stolen" crown before they get married unlike the Korean/Taiwanese/Chinese/Thai versions. So I think that they should get the most credit. They may not have the best HD(Korea), the most gory(Taiwan), or the steamy kisses(China), but I do believe they have great actors. The rest are all copycats
Well the Japanese version I think is the original? So I would say it's the best because it follows the manga more. :) Also a suggestion for the update don't forget Mainland China. They made Let's watch the meteor shower ^^ and I think Thailand did a version too but Im not sure what its called.
I saw BOF first, but it's my least favorite. It's entertaining, but extremely "soap opera" (especially the acting). Plus, Rui is very different from the original character & there's zero chemistry between the leads; Meteor Garden is Really good (eventually---the first 5 eps. are *snooze*). The story is VERY close to the original and the characters are Spot On. But HYD is my fave b/c the chemistry between the leads is unbeatable. It's the only version where Rui is definitely 2nd choice.
I feel like in the Korean one they were trying to add everything from the Japanese and Taiwanese one, so the way it was mixed together just seemed random. If you watched all versions then the Korean one again, you'll know what i mean. Kind of like last minute "dont forget to add this part in"

I love ALL the versions, but I think that the japanese version is the best,because I find it more deeper than the other versions and the chemistry between MatsuJun&Inoue Mao is just pure awesomeness :)))♥ I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HYD!!!♥
I refuse to believe anyone portrayed Tsukasha better than MatsuJun - It's impossible. And what about shun as Rui? you can't beat that either, same goes for Makino
I think Korea's version had the best visuals. The clothes, people and the sceneries were picturesque. As for the storyline, I liked Taiwan's best, because it was well explained and the chemistry between Daoming Si and Sanchai was heartwarming. The scenes where they cried and all, I felt the pain together with them. I can't believe I'm rewatching it after 10 years. And as for Japan, I'm not that fond of it. Not sure why :(
@ami7mina korea - cause geum jan di's face is not that expressive at times. but gu jun pyo acts nicely.
Chemistry:
TIE between Japan and Taiwan -because Shancai and Daoming Si fights really have chemistry but Japan's Domyouji and Tsukushi looks much better as couple.
Korea - no sorry.
Story:
1)Japan - Even though there are not much touchy moments/scenes compared to Taiwan's meteor garden, This will really get you going, it's a bit fast paced but It wouldn't bore you.
@ami7mina Taiwan - Slow but the slow moments are what made it really emotional. Penny Dai's Ni Yao De Ai song really set the emotional mood. Some slow parts.. are boring though like.. the walking etc lol.
Korea - I appreciate how they were loyal to the anime version and did many things. like the competition, the sports etc.
Boys:
1)TIE between Taiwanese and Korean. that's just me,
2)Japan - I really like the guy who likes older women. Domyouji is so adorable. the actor.. and also Rui Hanazawa.
1)Taiwan - Particularly Daoming Si (Domyouji), Huaze Lei (Rui Hanazawa), Daoming Si's mother. Shancai's parents (very funny especially the mom) down side is there are no 3 mean girls here. just 2
2)Tie between Korea and Japan. Because Korea's Domyouji (Gu Jun Pyo) looks the part better than japanese Domyouji. Tsukushi looks like the Japanese Gum Jan Di (Korea) doesn't look the part. Sakurako Looks the part in both versions.
@ealig There's a Chinese version? I know that China banned the Taiwanese drama from being aired in the mainland because of the supposed "disturbance among the social classes", so I'd be surprised if they made one themselves.

If I must put it in order. Taiwanese version is first because it was really good and it didn't rush the story. Japanese version would be second because well it was just good. And lastly the Korean version, it reallly didn't leave an impact on me and I was just bored by it by the 2nd ep.
I watched boys over flowers 3 days ago because everyone said "it's one of the best dramas ever"..but i could only watch until ep 6 because it was so boring..sorry but didn't like the kor. version. Hmm maybe the japanese version is better.
I love the Korean version, it's awesome! The only thing I'm can choose between are Rui & Ji Hoo, it doesn't help when the song Because I'm Stupid is sung by Ji Hoo who plays Rui in the Korean version of HYD
for domyouji character i like matsumoto jun. for tsukushi i like inoue mao
for hanazawa rui's role i like the korean guy and for soujiroh's role i like kim Bum for that but i can say Japanese version of HYD is really the best!
Haven't seen Taiwaan but... both Japan and Koreas were pretty bad. What made Korea okay was that the guys were super hot. I mean, KHJ and LMH together is hotness overload.
The korean version is better and the characters are more handsome (it seems better for me cze thats the first version i saw and also Kim HYun joong and kim joon are handsome which is why i vote korean version as better) i love ss501 check them out if you dont know them yet

@anime0pop Yeah, I finished Season 1, LOL. It might be quite lengthy (WAY) compared to the other versions. Well, even if it's not as great as BOF, I think that you should try watching it. It's very unique, and you never quite expects what to happen. It's also not all lovely dovey, ugh, like after the day the two lead characters went out, HE FORGOT HIS MEMORY for another long period. fauhgduisgf. But yeah, try watching it if you have some time, haha (;
9. Oguri is just fascinating, He's the real Hanazawa Rui, his acting surpasses both Jihoo of kversion and Lei of MG
10. Abe and Shota as Akira and Sojiroh are commendable
11. Mao as Makino, she played the character as if she is makino herself, she's so believable, she's lovable, charismatic and very very pretty. even the taiwanese and korean chose her as the best Makino Tsukushi. (see how effective she is?)

meteor garden's bored when it comes to season 2, the story is tooo loooong.
Korean verse is good, i like it, many romantic scene, but Hanadan is the best. story, actor/actrees, plot, chemistry, friensdhip of F4 is definitely strong n much better than the other.
Japanese ver is much better. Plot, acting, chemistry are much better. Korean ver focus too much on appearance but still great overall. Never watch other ver.
I would say I definitely miss meteor garden:( but the Japanese version is the best! !!they're all great actors although what I like in the korean vers. is their songs and the places they shoot the show...but I still prefer Japanese Inoue and Jun<3<3<3
I've watched all three versions. Meteor Garden bored the crap out of me and I stopped watching with only a couple of esp. left. The Korean version gives me that feel good warm fuzzy feeling. I love it and I love KHS. The Japenese version gave me the sitting on the edge of your seat feeling, also a very good version. Oguri and the actress playing Makino are very sooooo cute, I love them.

The chemistry in HYD was by far the best. The show overall was perfect! In BOF i thought jan di honestly had mental issues. I thoguht the love was more of a one side thing and they didnt really seen they were into each other. It also had a lot of boring parts. Meteor garden is the same.
japanese version is the best out of 3..i watched 3 versions 1st taiwan,2nd HD then BOF.. but i gotta say that japanese version is the best because there is a mixture of comedy,romanace etc..i really love it..Taiwanese version is so long and bof is so boring..i didnt even finish the story..they lack of acting skills ...they just focus on good looking actors despite their talents..honestly im a kpop fan but i gotta say that japanese nailed it

I've watched all versions, Taiwan, Korean, and Japanese and they all made me cry, honestly. But NO OFFENSE, Hana Yori Dango, the japanese version, is the best in my opinion. Perfect cast, Perfect lines, perfect drama. It's the BEST DRAMA I've ever watched and I'm never gonna change that. :)

And I think the girls in the japanese version is beautiful and the girl in the Korean version isn't that pretty but she cute! The girl in the Taiwanese version is pretty. Hana Yori Dango was probably the best, with Meteor Garden as a close second (if you skip 75% of season 2), and then Boys over flowers...the acting wasn't as good.

But right now I'm too lazy. For sure I'm going to Try Japanese, I Think It Follow The Manga/Anime More. I Think Hyun Joong Did A great Jobbed, Playing Rui. The Taiwanese version gets to me b/c season 1 is seriously faithful to the manga and made me cry like no other show/movie combined but the acting's pretty bad whereas Hana Yori Dango (Japanese version) was awesome! and BOF was great but did focus too much on looks.

It's unfortunate that MatsuJun was not looking his best in HYD. He's usually Mr. flawless Jun in other appearances xDD
He was juggling 2 variety shows, hosting a music show, promoting his band's newest single and album, practicing for a rowing competition with his band, AND filming HYD all at the same time! Poor guy's skin was tired-looking throughout HYD because of that... >_> And that ugly perm did not help.
He went back to being flawless in HYD second season and movie though; thank god

He was flawless but I'm so impressed with his work-ethic right now. At first I thought "ugh, he's short and ugly" and ended up falling head-over-heels obsessively in love with him <3 he's so adorable.

@femmefatale1990 Well if you watch him in the Rowing miniseries in Mago Mago Arashi, which was parallel with HYD filming, there was a glimpse of him without makeup on and his cheeks were ravaged with breakouts. It was pretty bad. It calmed down right after finishing HYD though, so now his skin is fine :)
Well, I never thought Jun was short -- he's average height, but Oguri Shun and Matsuda Shota are tall guys so he appeared short in comparison. And he was *really* beautiful in Boku Imouto...

Well for me i've read the manga, seen the anime, the 1995 movie,& all 4 versions. My Personal view is that they are all the same but different at the same time. in the chinese version h4(f4) had a different name&they werent friends since kinder. The korean goes more into how Ji Hoo&Jan Di relationship is there was no Jun-pyo. They all have the love story line with Sojiroh and Yuki and express it different but in the end, but exactly the same. so no hate love them all (:<3 BigFan!

Taiwan HYD is the poorest version of 3 version
Japanes HYD,in spite of the apperance problem, 5 main character acted so good,no comment
Korean HYD, actor/actress's apperance is so perfect,but acting is not likely as well as Japan version

@meganification17 I know all that :) I've seen them like 10X but what I was trying to say was that Japan made the manga, made the first F4 drama series, and made a special movie where they go and find the "stolen" crown before they get married unlike the Korean/Taiwanese/Chinese/Thai versions. So I think that they should get the most credit. They may not have the best HD(Korea), the most gory(Taiwan), or the steamy kisses(China), but I do believe they have great actors. The rest are all copycats

I saw BOF first, but it's my least favorite. It's entertaining, but extremely "soap opera" (especially the acting). Plus, Rui is very different from the original character & there's zero chemistry between the leads; Meteor Garden is Really good (eventually---the first 5 eps. are *snooze*). The story is VERY close to the original and the characters are Spot On. But HYD is my fave b/c the chemistry between the leads is unbeatable. It's the only version where Rui is definitely 2nd choice.

I feel like in the Korean one they were trying to add everything from the Japanese and Taiwanese one, so the way it was mixed together just seemed random. If you watched all versions then the Korean one again, you'll know what i mean. Kind of like last minute "dont forget to add this part in"

I think Korea's version had the best visuals. The clothes, people and the sceneries were picturesque. As for the storyline, I liked Taiwan's best, because it was well explained and the chemistry between Daoming Si and Sanchai was heartwarming. The scenes where they cried and all, I felt the pain together with them. I can't believe I'm rewatching it after 10 years. And as for Japan, I'm not that fond of it. Not sure why :(

best places like other countries:
1)korea (cause of the beach part with the man made island.) and also macau.
2)taiwan - barcelona spain featured the roads, the chapel and the other chapel
3)japan - new york city - (just featured the city streets times square)season 2
best acting:
1)japan - the lead actress has expressive faces. but i dont really feel her hardship much compared to

1)Japan - Even though there are not much touchy moments/scenes compared to Taiwan's meteor garden, This will really get you going, it's a bit fast paced but It wouldn't bore you.

@ami7mina Taiwan - Slow but the slow moments are what made it really emotional. Penny Dai's Ni Yao De Ai song really set the emotional mood. Some slow parts.. are boring though like.. the walking etc lol.
Korea - I appreciate how they were loyal to the anime version and did many things. like the competition, the sports etc.

1)TIE between Taiwanese and Korean. that's just me,

2)Tie between Korea and Japan. Because Korea's Domyouji (Gu Jun Pyo) looks the part better than japanese Domyouji. Tsukushi looks like the Japanese Gum Jan Di (Korea) doesn't look the part. Sakurako Looks the part in both versions.

@anime0pop Yeah, I finished Season 1, LOL. It might be quite lengthy (WAY) compared to the other versions. Well, even if it's not as great as BOF, I think that you should try watching it. It's very unique, and you never quite expects what to happen. It's also not all lovely dovey, ugh, like after the day the two lead characters went out, HE FORGOT HIS MEMORY for another long period. fauhgduisgf. HYD is just magical.

I guess..I prefer the Korean Version over all the 3 Dramas. The most thing I enjoyed there was the SoEulmate Couple lol xD :3 But then..the Japanese Version is more 'touching' and 'emotional'...I cried alot more~ Aaah well.. I love it and I love KHS. The Japenese version gave me the sitting on the edge of your seat feeling, also a very good version. Oguri and the actress playing Makino are very sooooo cute, I love them.

The chemistry in HYD was by far the best. The show overall was perfect! In BOF i thought jan di honestly had mental issues. I thoguht the love was more of a one side thing and they didnt really seen they were into each other. It also had a lot of boring parts. Meteor garden is the same.

japanese version is the best out of 3..i watched 3 versions 1st taiwan,2nd HD then BOF.. but i gotta say that japanese version is the best because there is a mixture of comedy,romanace etc..i really love it..Taiwanese version is so long and bof is so boring..i didnt even finish the story..they lack of acting skills ...they just focus on good looking actors despite their talents..honestly im a kpop fan but i gotta say that japanese nailed it

1ºversion japonesa .Me encanta como se desarrolla la histori y la forma de actuar de los personajes es la version que mas me encanto y atrapo me encanta doumioyi .
2º koreana y la china .En la koreana deseaba con ansias de que makino se quedara con rui amo a ese rui lo adoro el pertenecia a los ss501 play full kiss ,esta la china buen desarrollo a pesar de que sus personajes no son tan lindos vean el sentimiento les atrapara.
3ºtaiwanesa no me agrado mucho esta version. la verdad no me gusto.
