Beautiful! This rendition of "Comfort Ye/Every Valley" is perhaps my favorite of all I've ever heard. As @gramps2matt pointed out, no overbearing embellishments. The voice is pure, and what I like about his performance is the tenor features the composer's WORK, he doesn't try to merely show off his own voice, as so many tenors apparently do. Kudos. I'm looking forward to hearing the other videos you've posted of this "Messiah" performance.
I agree that english is not his first language, but that can be overlooked when it comes to purity of tone and interpretation. excellent! I do not feel tenor di grazia, but more a beautiful lyric voice. bravo!
A fantastic interpretation by the soloist. I say that because of the artful way he used embellishments not overbearing and truly in context with the score. Also the director gets high praise for conducting from a harpsichord just as Handel would.
I rather like the way they treat this aria as a true recitative w/the appropriate retardando, variance and rubato inTempi, also the neede rests between Comfort Ye and Every Valley, which is what GF Haendel wrote.
Thank You Charles. My Oldest recording of this w/Evry Valley is the Richard Crooks recording On Victor. Magnificant, especially w/Barbarolli Conducting from the 1930's.

Bueno sencillamente es a mi opinión, una interpretación sumamente acoplada a la imagen del sonido que Handel se creaba.

Beautiful interpretation, but as with all Latin singers, the consonents need to be more stressed.
