Thank you God, for the inspiration of this song. Thank you, Amy, for using the gift God gave you to sing it. My spiritual journey is on a similar path to yours and I thank you for sharing the wisdom you've learned along the way. This speaks to my soul like no other song. Hope is alive once again. I believe I will go restore my broken family now. Thank you for letting me know that there is always hope as long as we're still breathing.
I cry a little EVERY time i hear amy sing 'innocence lost', the honesty in her voice -the regret and knowing -yet hope which is there for all of us if only we could accept and reach for. great to hear her live-even more moving and intimate. like a big sister, amy -through her music has brought me closer in my relationship to God than any other artist. her heart-aches, mistakes...humanity and humility are blessings for me and others. thanks 4 posting.
I dont believe theres a god i lost my faith when my mother allowed me to be sexually abused . i find it difficult to believe a "god" so pure would create monsters like the ones ive known.
@humptydig I know what your talking about Remember you are not alone I too have experienced major betrayal and abuse by my parents We did not choose our parents and this is why we need to find ways to protect children from being abused and trapped in families that are abusive

Hey Sween...at our church the prostitute wins out over the pharisee everytime. Sounds to me like you have become as those who paid silver for inocent blood. Love ya' buddy in Christ, but loose the legalism. Or maybe you enjoy being a "whitewashed tomb" or a "clean cup on the outside"
Sween9261 I believe it says JUDGE YE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED....and FYI if it were NOT for Amy Grant I would never have found the relationship with Christ. I know it says vengance is mine thus sayeth the lord but Sween you can't be about the lords business on this one! Let it go, in peace and love....and do not condemn yourself further.
God says those who love Him keep His commandments (John 14:23), and His commandments are not burdensome (1John 5:3). Those who do not love Him do not keep His words (John 14:24). People who are born of God do not continue sinning (1John 3:9); people who continue sinning have not seen Him and do not know Him (1John 3:6). Amy Grant rejects His Word (1Cor 7:10-11), and continues in on-going adultery (Mark 10:12). God says don't be deceived: adulterers have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor 6:9).
1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. BUT if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the father in our defense ....
JESUS CHRIST, the RIGHTEOUS ONE.
2: Not only for our sins but for the rest of the world.
"Yeah we can sit here an isolate bible versus all day, but the truth of the matter is
Hebrews 6:4-6: For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
Christ Jesus says (John 14:24): He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.
When Amy Grant sings about loving God, the obvious question to ask her is: Then, why don't you believe Him and keep His commandments? In view of God's statement that the sexually immoral have no inheritance in the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), how can Amy Grant's on-going state of adultery (Mark 10:12) give good witness to God's Kingdom?
It's not merely about sin...she's human and like all of us need Jesus. But Christians are called to more ...and repentence is apart of that. What about holiness and glorifying God with a heart that lives only for him..with no excuses and no sweet christian "sentimatity". We weren't given our gifts to sing, dance, paint, whatever to just bring us comfort but to glorify God. I don't judge her heart God calls the Christian to a higher standard than just a life of warm fuzzies.
Verlorene Unschuld.
Why is everyone so hard on Amy Grant for getting a divorce? It's a worse sin to masterbate. "better you seed fall in the belly of a whore" GODS WORDS not mine. and every
(verile)man does this or has done this act regularly, including your dad, grandpa and priest/preacher. And why do you care if she sins, more room in heaven for you.
Szonja101 We should forgive her because our God has forgiven her. Who can stand a junkie husband like Gary Chapman at that time? love Amy, She inspire me
This song is about her coming to terms with her sing of divorce and the emotions that led to that divorce> This whole album is about her repentance and her new found hope--and peace.
God does forgive us, all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, says the Bible. Amy is paying for her sin--all her life she will pay, she has to feel the regret, the shame, the sorrow, the sin and the pain--as well as do her children. God is a God of restoration.
Please. She has nothing to be sorry for. She is really way too hard on herself. It takes two to tango. If it isn't there anymore after many many tries, it's time to move on.
I love this song. It speaks volumes of heartfelt moments we all have. Only in the love and grace of God do I find peace and comfort.Abba Daddy is the place to go.The blood of Jesus wipes away all regret and guilt of sin and regret of past wrongs and mistakes. He is our High Priest forever.Lisa
It's not about Amy's own experiences--in fact it is one of the rare times she recorded a song that she didn't have a hand in writing. The song was pitched to her by a friend (maybe her manager? can't remember exactly) and she immediately knew she wanted to record it. I suppose she could really relate to it. Her voice is really shot towards the end of this performance...her live performances are not what they used to be...but the studio recording of this is absolutely gorgeous.
I can't unscramble eggs. :o)

and it is MUCH APPARENT that you are totally incapable of acknowledging YOUR OWN SIN Sween9261 If you can't acknowledge it, then:
YOU CAN'T REPENT OF IT!!!!
Clean yourself up, before you go advising others. I won't listen to you and no one else will, if you can't be honest with yourself, and repent.
