Forza 4 KILLED IT!! I am a Polyphonics fan and I am DYING for a new Tourist Trophy but GT5 was rushed! It took too long to perfect it and they could not get it done in time. Even their use of top gear is weak compared to how it is nicely splashed into Forza and not drown the game in it. I'm sure we will see another great GT, but it sure is NOT GT5.
forza 4's dashboard looks too shiny, and it's missing the stitches that should be on the dashboard. GT5's cockpit looks amazing and the dashboard has the stitches that should be on there. Well the stitches are there in forza 4 but they are barely visible like if they are almost not there
I play Forza 4 and I used to own GT5. I play Forza 4 almost every day and love every minute of it. I got bored of GT5 pretty quickly and sold it within about 2 months. If you don't find a game fun then what's the point? Also if you are that desperate for realism then don't play either. No matter how much you argue between them neither are a match for computer simulators like Live for Speed, rFactor 2 or iRacing.

with all of the assists and simulation steering FM4 is very realistic. most of the bumps on nurburing will shake up your car with out tuning the suspension to dampen the bumps. the tire data used and deformation are very feelable if your turns arent the best. and autovista, track day challenges, rivals and car clubs auction house and storefronts are all very enjoyable to play and there is just so much you could do this game is playable for years.
The one is the best of the two, and the winner has = time change, weather, sense of speed, better looking cars, more realistic looking tracks, playability is better, AI wont ram on you, Online gaming is better..... anyone quessing which one it is ?
For example, which of the two gives you option to setup your car totally in a online lobby?
Makes it even possible to buy upgrades FROM the lobby aswell... my guess is, it's not Forza 4...

GT5 is the better game to me. Physics are very realistic and every car feels different. And graphics are still one of the best I've seen in a game. The cockpits of the premium cars have just ALL the details that are present in the car in real life. Some replays look actually like real life footage. Forza 4 is a very decent game as well, but simulator wise, it just isn't up the same level as GT5 is. Graphics are nice, but the reflections and high constrast are overdone. Car smoke is poor as well.
@BurnerJorre I played both (with all assist turn off) and I feel FM is closer to life, driving a civic SI in F4 feels a lot more realistic than GT, not only sounds better but I can get the wheels to spin while shifting from 1-2 and I can't do that in GT, it will simply shift smoothly which takes away the realism to me, in graphics game play both look amazing to me but the smoke in FM is a big fail, it pisses me off to do a burnout or drift and barely see some smoke while in GT the smoke is great
@Crysisbestever They aren't very good, I know. But I'm happy with the mechanical damage they put in the game. Imagine if they would have made a full damage model for every premium car! I guess GT5 still wouldn't be released. XD

Cars in forza have twice the amount of polygons that are in the GT5 cars, however the cockpits still look bland and sometimes like they are made out of plastic. And Forza has a good damage model? The only thing that happens is the car turning completely gray with some parts falling off. XD
If you like Forza 4, that's fine. But I'll stick to my favorite simulator, which is GT5

Times driven on real life circuits in game (for example Nurbürgring) are very accurate with the times in reality. Weather effects, day/night cycle, Formula 1 racing, both visual and mechanical damage ...
I'm very sure Gran Turismo 5 can be called a realistic simulator. I'm gonna leave Forza 4 out of this.

-cockpit position isnt changeable. (in real life it depends on your height)
-times arent accurate (real f1 car needed 8:34 on nordschleife because the car isnt made for that track, in gt5 i saw someone reaching 5:06) a difference of 3 minutes and 28 second. btw. there is only the ferrari f1
@Xzibitfreek Well, you name one example of an inaccurate time, but this is because in real life you have to keep in mind a lot of different factors. It's much easier to race from your seat in the living room than beeing in a real car. The car sounds are actally pretty realistic in GT5. Play with a decent home cinema and you'll hear the difference. In Forza, ALL cars sound like racing machines, which isn't realistic as well.

Polyphony get manufacture rights to blueprints and in most cases get issued a car to test. Turn10 got a license to copy blueprints from the net. Essentially they used google and flikr to come up with there cars, maybe youtube for car sounds also.

GT5's environment detail is phenomenal.. Dunno why Turn10 completely overlooked the fact that THE PLACE is just as important for the real-like experience.. Who's seen SNOW ...BLOOM like that?! Colours and models look far better/appealing in F4 than GT5 imo.. But these guys at Turn10 seriously have MAJOR Bloom issues. I've said this once b4: GT5's presentation looks like an exposure-sensitve camera footage, whilst F4's was trying to mimic that feel of being outdoor..u can almost "feel" the sun!!

Of course both games aren't simulators in the strictest sense as they are trying to occupy a broader market. Also, you can only drive the fastest in Forza 4 with aids off AND your laptimes are ranked down.

Full metal construction on wheel, pedals, and six speed shifter.The pedals can also be switched around to hang vertically like in a real car with pressure variance on the pedals. @blakshadow5 first of all, not every car comes with PIRELLI when you buy it from local dealer, secondyl, sound is far from real, for example, Saab 99 turbo doesnt sound anything like it should, either does Rabbit GTi, only cars that might sound the same are American cars, others are just ruined.

No doubt Forza 4 have better sounds. But is about 57 secconds of the video a car hits at the rear and the player doesn't even fell it , he manage to be in control so damm easily. 1- PD added a recorded-video effect to the gameplay, adding just a slight blur, making it seem as if you are watching a race on tv.
2-The PS3 plays in a higher resolution. The models of fm4 have more polygons, aka their structure is more detailed. However, being that the visual capabilities of the PS3 (it's graphics) are more precise (higher resolution), more external detail may be shown.
This does not mean, however, that GT5's visuals are superior.

It's much easier to race from your seat in the living room than beeing in a real car. The car sounds are actally pretty realistic in GT5. Play with a decent home cinema and you'll hear the difference. In Forza, ALL cars sound like racing machines, which isn't realistic as well.
Sorry mate, but GT5 is and will always be nr.1 for me. XD

Ok, I admit that some car sounds in GT5 are not very well done, but it certainly isn't as bad as you say. The sound of the Prius is far better in GT5 than in Forza 4.

@Xzibitfreek sound? sorry but the sound is better in gt5, in forza all the sound is the same (too loud); damage model, i dont really care, its a RACING simulator... the standart cars are there because 225 cars arent too many, but that 225 cars are more detailed in-game (autovista doesnt count); unreal tuning, if you want to race with stock you can, if you put "unreal tuning" is because u want:
cockpit can be changeable in distance, but well.. times inaccurate thanks to the soft tires, put hard.

Polyphony get manufacture rights to blueprints and in most cases get issued a car to test. Turn10 got a license to copy blueprints from the net. Essentially they used google and flikr to come up with there cars, maybe youtube for car sounds also.

GT5's environment detail is phenomenal.. Dunno why Turn10 completely overlooked the fact that THE PLACE is just as important for the real-like experience.. Who's seen SNOW ...BLOOM like that?! Colours and models look far better/appealing in F4 than GT5 imo.. But these guys at Turn10 seriously have MAJOR Bloom issues. I've said this once b4: GT5's presentation looks like an exposure-sensitve camera footage, whilst F4's was trying to mimic that feel of being outdoor..u can almost "feel" the sun!!

I'm sorry, but Turn 10 (The developers of Forza) took ALL their tire data from PIRELLI itself, like all of it. You cannot get more realistic than that. It looks like an arcade here cause this guy is a noob and he has every assist on, which makes it an arcade game. But turn TCS, ABS, racing line, off and turn simulation steering on and you get a b*tchin' simulator. And forza has real car sounds. It's hard for me to stress the fact that Forza has better physics but you gotta believe me.

@Th3Gamemaster2010 lol really? are you forgetting that both Forza 4 and GT5 are GAMES? Does GT5 not have any sort of "easy" difficulty as opposed to hard? Aren't there settings on GT5 that make it so a beginner can play with relative ease? Or that even automatic transmission is an option? Of course both games aren't simulators in the strictest sense as they are trying to occupy a broader market. Also, you can only drive the fastest in Forza 4 with aids off AND your laptimes are ranked down.

Full metal construction on wheel, pedals, and six speed shifter.The pedals can also be switched around to hang vertically like in a real car with pressure variance on the pedals. @blakshadow5 my favorite simulated aspect of the game is when you flip your car over you can simply put the car into first gear and punch the gas, which uprights the car...just like in real life. It's a toy brother, it's never going to be real.

No doubt Forza 4 have better sounds. But is about 57 secconds of the video a car hits at the rear and the player doesn't even fell it , he manage to be in control so damm easily. The driving experience of forza still crap, but it stil a good game for those who fell impressed by the shining graphics and the amateur tunning.
Once again, im talking with whoever drive with Logitech Driving Force GT or better. Diferent games for diferent audiences and that's all !

Want to know why gt5 looks better?
1- PD added a recorded-video effect to the gameplay, adding just a slight blur, making it seem as if you are watching a race on tv.
2-The PS3 plays in a higher resolution. The models of fm4 have more polygons, aka their structure is more detailed. However, being that the visual capabilities of the PS3 (it's graphics) are more precise (higher resolution), more external detail may be shown.
This does not mean, however, that GT5's visuals are superior.
