I believe it didn't sell well because of it's advertisement, Guitar Hero promised more metal and clearly it didn't deliver very well, however comparing to GH3, WOR just beat GH3 by difficulty, WOR has got to be the toughest GH I have ever played, I guess to Activision, Metal means more fret frenzy game, somebody down there at Activision doesn't know the meaning of metal
It's still by far one of the best GH titles out there, apart from the cheesy uneeded story line, it is a much better game
WOR definitely is a vast improvement from it's predecesor GH5, the graphics are better, the game engine is better and more responsive, and they did fix alot of bugs, not to manetion a much better setlist....
although it is odd to call Guitar Hero a band game now, they should have used the Band Hero logo for a game that is band set based instead of a family friendly game, Band Hero is just a much better name... apart from that Activision did do a good job with this title, I am impressed
I'm actually not sure that its the gameplay that drove people away. Keep in mind that even after saturating the market last year, GH5 still sold over 400k units. I think that the main problem, sales wise, was the setlist itself. GH5 had a wide variety of music (Funk, Pop, Glam, etc.), however, GHWOR seemed to focus on a more Hard Rock and Heavy Metal direction, which may have driven away the more casual music fans. Not that I dont like it, it wasn't really treated as a party game setlist imo.
Cena, I thought this game was as Guitar oriented as they could make it and still have vocals and drums. I think having a guitar game and a band game (that would still use a guitar) would create confusion among the casual GH crowd. All the promos I've seen for this game are completely guitar oriented.
But yes, adding Bohemian Rhapsody was a mistake as there are more guitar centered Queen songs.
i kinda agree and disagree about going back to gh's "roots" just because even though the game grew from just guitar which started the whole music game craze people get tired of playing just bass and guitar so thats why i think they added vox and drums and also im sure that rb was gonna sell more because they would have a full band thing going on and gh would only have a guitar and a bass
well i think making just a guitar game now would utterly make guitar hero really fail. taking out the other instrument takes 2 players out of the fun of playing the game. which leave rock band at 7 i think with the keyboard and vocals. so if you like me you like playing in larger groups that is going to give rock band the edge. if guitar hero got rid of all their instrument and just had guitar i would have to switch to rock band
I really want gh to go back to just guitar and bass also. When i play that game, i play it for the 5 button guitar. Also, using my rb2 drums in gh5 just don't work: for songs with a constant, fast, bass pedal, i always fail, even though i have mastered the hardest rb songs.
Well i agree that guitar hero shouldve never been a band but, dont you think that it will be wired to have just guitar guitar hero later band guitar heros and then again just guitar in guitar hero?
that willl be fucked up , peaple with the full band will be mad , so i think guitar hero cant go back to there roots.... this was a permanent mistake

Completely agreed, I love how this review is totally unbiased. I'll have to disagree however with you saying Guitar Hero 2 and 3 are better than the new Guitar Heroes. In my opinion after only playing guitar, Guitar Hero 5 is my favourite GH game of all, great engine fun mechanics etc(I haven't got WoR yet, I'm broke).
@trogdor1oh1 Honestly no other GH has gotten any play other than for review purposes besides WOR. I think they improved the game even beyond 5. When you play it you will see what I mean.
@trogdor1oh1 RB3 has some VERY challenging songs in it. With adding pro mode especially on drums, this will be a whole new game and a whole new challenge. @LightSwitchToTheMind I hear ya, But what did GH do before Rock Band came out with drums and such? Everyone loved the game and I was one of them as I played for hours. IMO even now GH is not looked to as a "Party" game and neither was Rock Band. When Beatles was released you then saw people saying that Beatles was the ultimate party game. I feel if you want a party game, then RB3 is going to be that choice. 7 people at one time beats 4.
I agree to your Statements Cena, but isnt it official that there wont be a new GH next Year? I think I read that somewhere on Gamenews Websites online.
Hey Cena, instead of a guitar only game (no drums or vocals, etc) I think a full band game with a much more guitar-focussed/guitar-challenging setlist would be much better. Many households would already have a full band setup and would go to waste with a guitar only game.
Let me just start by saying that I like your reviews, and always watch them for for updates on rhymthm games. But your point on activision sticking to the brand and doing band hero vs. GH. Do you think anyone would buy the band version of a game where they have the option to play guitar solo or the guitar game where they're limited to only the guitar? Not to mention there would be inevitable sound track overlaps due to licensing and stuff. Just a thought. Good review thought!
@Hintz6 I know for a fact this would work know why? I have talked to people who love GH and they said they wanted just a guitar game. Band Hero I was meaning as a separate thing. You never saw a game lilke Pac Man change it's core, and it is still popular today. Rock Band started from the ground up. Adding a keyboard only adds to not change the core. Now if they came out with RB Guitar only it would not work., However Guitar Hero was based on guitar. All the records broke were on guitar not...
@Hintz6 Drums or anything else. In some way's you may be right that it is too old school to go back. However in other ways I think this is what the hardcore fans want. Honestly I do not feel that they can keep up with the whole band thing. Everything that could be done has been done by Harmonix and IMO better. However when Harmonix sold GH to Activision, they sold the number one Guitar Game. See what I mean? Thanks for your opinion I appreciate it and thanks for your support:)
@CenasCorner I would agree it's too late for them to go back to only a guitar game, but in light of your explanation I suppose they may have been better off sticking to guitar in the first place. If there's one thing I 100% agree on with you, it's that the whole band setup was done entirely better by Harmonix from the start of the "band game revolution". I really hate the band setup in GH:WT and any installment thereafter.
I agree, I love this game but I think drums and vocals aren't nessesary. I hate the drums and vocals in this game I think it doesn't really let you hit half of the notes and it frustrates me.
another thing they should is lessen the amount of GH games they put out tot so they can spend time to build a quality game like harmonix does with rockband
Cena people are going to bash you no matter what.. You need to shrug it off. I completely agree with GH going back to its roots, and it would definately help them for sure.
you said "Im sure guiter hero has more than 85,000 fans" they actually have 1,653,578 People Like This on FACEBOOK right now. Of course i know all of those arn't hardcore fans...but even if you cut that number in half its WAY more than 85,000.
When you said about DDR having a keyboard it made me think, Singstar is bringing out a game with a guitar peripheral. How is that singstar anymore? :\
if gh were to go back to just having guitar & bass charts, i bet there would be a lot less flame wars about which rhythm franchise is better. if activision actually had the balls to do this, then i bet gh would automatically gain back some of its "personality".
I sort of didnt understand what you meant about the wireless device thats on the band hero drum kits, can it be used to make normal electric kits work or something similar? Also ive had mine now since band hero was released over here in europe and ive wondered if it would be beneficial to show people what sort of state its still in after all this time if people are questioning the longetivity of them?
@krispearman Yes. Atleast in the version they have released in the states, the controller snaps off of the drums. It has MIDI out and in which allows you to hook a real electronic kit up to it and play GH. GH Drums have always had MIDI, but it was built into the kit before and could not be removed. So people started cutting them out and rigging them themselves. Now the problem is solved. I think it would also be cool if you made a video of what yours look like now after playing them awhile.
I agree a lot with what you said. Maybe if Guitar Hero went back only having guitar, they would have a better game. Possibly they can keep the vocals considering some people play vocals and play guitar at the same time, but they need something entirely new. Maybe they could implement a feature for guitar that will bring them back into the competition, but I believe they shouldn't compete at all.
Mr Cena, i agree with u at the point that activision/neversoft dunno where they r goin with the gh franchise, as u said b4, if they wanna compete with a band game, BAND HERO would b a nice try, but letting alone guitar hero as a GUITAR ONLY game...this time GH lacks of personality or genre just tryning to give everithing to everyone in 1 single title...maybe the idea was good, but the final product was lame...
i'd have to agree that gh would be back on its feet if it were completely guitar/bass again although i dont think theres any chance of that happening especially now with rb adding keys as a new instrument, also u may not like the fact that you have to play through quest mode to unlock all the songs but thats probably the only way to get people to actually play the majority of the songs in the game otherwise most people would probably just play the metal tracks and forget about anything else.
You absolutely right Cena. You said all the right things about GH, both the positive and the negative. The GH fanboys need to stfu and just chill. And like Cena said, strip GH down and GH is back to being the best guitar game.
Guitar Hero Warriors of rock is amazing in MY OPINION. I'm just not so sure about Rock Band 3. Not much to look forward to in that game as much in Guitar Hero:WOR. Besides the Pro modes. Which i would only use for Drums. Not wasting loads of money for a real guitar for a game Lol. But really, is Rock Band 3 worth buying? I mean the setlist in my OPINION is not for me. But the "Pro Drums" seems awesome!
@manhuntruler2 One of many reasons why RB3 is brilliant is cuz the REAL guitar is WORTH IT. Why? Your not buying the guitar just for just a game... LMAO. That guitar can also be played for REAL, with a real AMP. Not just for a game like you said.
@v3teran I forgot 2 mention that i already have a REAL guitar. And am more of a drummer/vocalist and bassist myself. But i know a few who play Expert Guitar and REAL guitar and they say it's totally not worth it. And i agree. The Pro Drums thing is more understanding than Pro Guitar. It will just seem to many that RB3 is going 2 far.
@manhuntruler2 And I myself forgot to mention that for those have already got a guitar, oh well. They can simply just buy RB3 without the REAL guitar, its that simple. its not mandatory. My point still stands. The Real guitar is indeed WORTH IT, excluding those who already have a guitar. Even my own guitar mentor says its worth it.
I'm really surprised at an 8 out of 10 considering that all other game reviewers gave it around a 6 for the fact that it is almost exactly like gh5, which is something Cena didn't say once during the review.
@p3ter20002000 That is because there were a lot of differences between WOR and 5 and if the other reviewers could not see that then they need my glasses! The graphics a lone was a huge improvement, the challenges mode has been changed, the over all feel of the game to me was a little different and although I feel that quest mode is cheesy, it adds to the replay value of the game. GH 5 was in my console for about 2 hours and was never played again. I play GH6 way more than the others.
I agree whole-heartedly that Guitar Hero should have just stuck with the guitar only. Whenever I look at a new GH game's soundtrack, I find my self getting excited about playing certain songs on guitar, but get pissed off that the drums suck so bad. I'm going to have to say that I don't mind how they 'overchart' stuff, but the drum charts just plain suck.
even though I am a person who plays Rock Band, I will always admit it was the first Guitar Hero that got me into rhythm games, but I agree with you all the way about Guitar Hero truly going back to it's roots with just being a guitar game along with band implemented games.
I wish my Xbox hadn't been broken when this came out :( but regardless I think I will still get this game, and you were 100% correct on every point you made in this video.
With RB3 on the near horizon, I already feel like asking the question: What about RB4? To be honest, I can't. But when it comes to Guitar Hero I feel like I can answer that question. I must say that I dont like the idea of going back to a guitar based game again, they made the decision to move with the industry. And the industry as a whole moved towards next gen gaming. The big thing about next gen gaming was multiplayer. It would be mighty hard to move from that model as we are still next gen.
@jovanus Well I think it will be a while before we see RB4. I would not be surprised if it were another two years. I think Harmonix may have their hands in something else Rhythm game wise that they may want to break. It took them two years for RB3 although they had authored the pro drum charting since RB1. Harmonix is more into taking their time and have one epic game, then having to put out many games. So it will be a while my friend, but the DLC is what will keep RB moving on.
i actually completely agree with u on activision coming out with an all guitar game again...as much as i love playing the drums on expert, guitar hero was GUITAR HERO when it was only guitar lol
@darkwater124 dude, power gig sucks ass, its a waste of anybodies money who buys it, who the fucking wants to play air drums? or play "learn how to play real guitar" with power gig, rb3 will teach you how to actually play
About the new drums. I had the GHWT set since it came out and I just absolutely hate it. The new kit was like a god send. All the problems I had with my GHWT kit were gone. It's quieter, it's VERY responsive, and the cymbals move. There's like a tension screw on the top that adjusts how much your cymbals move when you hit them and I thought that was a great idea. Hope you do a review on them when you get your kit.
I think the guitar only games are played out and would have been the death of the franchise. Drums and Vocals have added a ton to the game! Song licensing would prohibit them from having a band game and a guitar game, because most of the fun drum and vocal songs are from the metal genre. Bad sales are most likely a reflection of the economy and over saturation created by Activision and not the fact that its a bad game. GH6 is my favorite GH game to date.
@CenasCorner Well it looks like other people have already stated the whole DLC/HD thing, but also the fact that Beatles had a smaller song list on disc even though they had harmonies and dreamscapes etc. While GH has 87 or 93 depending on how you count 2112
When it comes to sales I think GH dug themselves a hole last year. I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of people who decided from the beginning they wouldn't buy another Guitar Hero, even if it was good.
Rock band are selling the midi module you were talking about, like seperately, and all of the stuff on rock band, looks amazing, it looks better, soundtrack is so much better, downloadable content is so much better, and the new keyboard and pro modes look amazing. And when I read that imagine by John Lennon is in rock band 3, i literally wet myself. Rock band will be better :)
Here's my interpretation of what everyone refers to as the whole "flooding of the market" - rather than compete with Harmonix/MTV's massive library of DLC, Activision opted for a disc-based delivery system as the main focus, wherein the unit price per song is much lower than if everything was just DLC. That is a fairly optimistic take, though. It's more likely that Activision wanted to release that many games in order to make more money. They're not known for the wisest business decisions
@MajorGeek42 Yeah I was not meaning as far as DLC. The norm as you know if to release a game every year. This is what Harmonix stated in the beginning they would not do. I feel it would have been wise for Activision to do the same thing. As in those 2 years you can concentrate on a block buster game, and use things around it to make it better like DLC. No one really missed a game a year from Harmonix (talking big release) because of the amount of DLC.
After watching the full video, I have to say I'm impressed with the integrity as opposed to the previous 'mini pre-review' you did on the demo. Drum charting in GH isn't 'bad', more-so the placement of pads on their kit, forcing the charts to be awkward with tom fills. That and the loose timing window throws me so off. This is a good game, RB3 will be a good game, both have some design flaws to be dealt with.
i agree with wat ur saying about the whole band hero thing but i feel like people just wanna be able to play the whole band instead of just the guitar ya know guitar hero cant keep adding things to the guitar aspect of the game theres only so much u can do so eventually they would hit a brick wall which is why they probably added more instraments so they would have more versatility i just dont think theres enough people who would wanna just play the guitar for it to work out for them
@XREHONX You make a good point. However at this stage in the game, Activision is going to have to come out with something unique to grab the audience. Know what I mean? If any game company just keep doing what their competition does, then I feel it will continue to be compared and may be stale before it is even released.
@CenasCorner that makes sense... but theres really not a whole lot any band type of game can really do to make their games better... i guess the whole keyboard thing was a good idea .... but whats after that? i just kinda feel like eventually its gonna come down to which company has better songs thats all its gonna come down to and its gonna just be based on whatever the person preffers like personally i am a guitar hero guy just because the drums are decent and with rockband u have to buy
@XREHONX Yeah I agree. I do not see what other instrument can be added now. I think like you said it is going to come down to music and preference. I think Activision is smart that they added DJ Hero to the line up. Because this will keep their franchise going and could get people who would have never bought GH to buy it based on DJ Hero. What is next we will just have to wait and see:)
I was truly quite shocked with this game... I was sure that it would be a shit can just like the other 2 before it... but surprisingly it showed me more than I was expecting, and I also like this game BUT, I do agree with Cena in that if they had just kept it a guitar game the sales would be through the roof....
Drums on Guitar Hero are awesome- they may be looser than RB but that doesn't make them inferior- they actually made me a bit better at RB drums. Also the new drum set is fantastic I finally got a drum FC with it lol.
@toymasheenSH Yeah I got to pick that kit up. Since I have never had a working GH kit, maybe my opinion on the drums will change when I am able to get their kit and either use it or the midi capabilities it has.
Quest mode is more of a Guitar Hero style mode. That's what they've always been like, in that way, that fantastic over-the-top, ridiculous style game. I found it fun, and the power ups amusing and it was a lot of fun.
Only thing i really disagree with is the Quest Mode. I really enjoyed it, it was a different idea that hasn't been done before and I thought it was pretty neat. But that is just my opinion. On a side note... Where is your computer at? The reason I ask is i noticed that your HD PVR is sitting way up on top of your shelf, which im guessing is about 5-6 feet off the ground. Do you have like a USB extender or something, or do you move the PVR when you record with it?
@ApoIIIo My TV is about 20 feet away from my computer. So I have an Active USB cable that is 30 feet that runs to the PVR. This way it is always connected to my computer and ready to go:)
@funkboy111 Brian bright stated that in a video. His quote was " We are going back to our roots which is an all rock/metal soundtrack" He really pressed the Metal aspect in the video, and most of the stuff that I saw at least was featuring metal music. I will say that the all metal soundtrack of the Demi God was well done though. By the time you get to him even if you do not like metal, you will enjoy it.
I thought quest mode was kinda weird but the fact that it had all of 2112 (although I wish you could play it all in one without the breaks in between sections) was really cool. I really enjoyed the overall soundtrack and the game really impressed me... I still think Rock Band 3 will be the better game though.
@toymasheenSH Man I felt like such a dummy! My daughter was like Dad what are you looking for. LOL I think I stared at the thing about 15 minutes before I put my pride aside and broke out the instructions.

CenasCorner 1 year ago
@Hintz6 Drums or anything else. In some way's you may be right that it is too old school to go back. However in other ways I think this is what the hardcore fans want. Honestly I do not feel that they can keep up with the whole band thing. Everything that could be done has been done by Harmonix and IMO better. However when Harmonix sold GH to Activision, they sold the number one Guitar Game. See what I mean? Thanks for your opinion I appreciate it and thanks for your support:)
CenasCorner 1 year ago
@CenasCorner I would agree it's too late for them to go back to only a guitar game, but in light of your explanation I suppose they may have been better off sticking to guitar in the first place. If there's one thing I 100% agree on with you, it's that the whole band setup was done entirely better by Harmonix from the start of the "band game revolution". I really hate the band setup in GH:WT and any installment thereafter.

That was a GREAT analogy about Guitar Hero changing their franchise.
That's where they went wrong.

When you said about DDR having a keyboard it made me think, Singstar is bringing out a game with a guitar peripheral. How is that singstar anymore? :\
JimmyGrimbleRB 1 year ago
if gh were to go back to just having guitar & bass charts, i bet there would be a lot less flame wars about which rhythm franchise is better. if activision actually had the balls to do this, then i bet gh would automatically gain back some of its "personality".
Maztuhmind 1 year ago
I sort of didnt understand what you meant about the wireless device thats on the band hero drum kits, can it be used to make normal electric kits work or something similar? Also ive had mine now since band hero was released over here in europe and ive wondered if it would be beneficial to show people what sort of state its still in after all this time if people are questioning the longetivity of them?
krispearman 1 year ago
@krispearman Yes. Atleast in the version they have released in the states, the controller snaps off of the drums. It has MIDI out and in which allows you to hook a real electronic kit up to it and play GH. GH Drums have always had MIDI, but it was built into the kit before and could not be removed. So people started cutting them out and rigging them themselves. Now the problem is solved. I think it would also be cool if you made a video of what yours look like now after playing them awhile.
CenasCorner 1 year ago
@krispearman There's a video on my youtube (sort of) showing how to use an electronic kit for GH/RB. It explains it basically but not very in depth.
NativeFunkDotCom 1 year ago
I agree a lot with what you said. Maybe if Guitar Hero went back only having guitar, they would have a better game. Possibly they can keep the vocals considering some people play vocals and play guitar at the same time, but they need something entirely new. Maybe they could implement a feature for guitar that will bring them back into the competition, but I believe they shouldn't compete at all.
nitroxelerator 1 year ago
Mr Cena, i agree with u at the point that activision/neversoft dunno where they r goin with the gh franchise, as u said b4, if they wanna compete with a band game, BAND HERO would b a nice try, but letting alone guitar hero as a GUITAR ONLY game...this time GH lacks of personality or genre just tryning to give everithing to everyone in 1 single title...maybe the idea was good, but the final product was lame...

Great review Cena! I hope you know that you have great reviews! Good solid review man.
MrLordofrock 1 year ago
i'd have to agree that gh would be back on its feet if it were completely guitar/bass again although i dont think theres any chance of that happening especially now with rb adding keys as a new instrument, also u may not like the fact that you have to play through quest mode to unlock all the songs but thats probably the only way to get people to actually play the majority of the songs in the game otherwise most people would probably just play the metal tracks and forget about anything else.
tpxomaha123 1 year ago
You absolutely right Cena. You said all the right things about GH, both the positive and the negative. The GH fanboys need to stfu and just chill. And like Cena said, strip GH down and GH is back to being the best guitar game.

flockemokke 1 year ago
Guitar Hero Warriors of rock is amazing in MY OPINION. I'm just not so sure about Rock Band 3. Not much to look forward to in that game as much in Guitar Hero:WOR. Besides the Pro modes. Which i would only use for Drums. Not wasting loads of money for a real guitar for a game Lol. But really, is Rock Band 3 worth buying? I mean the setlist in my OPINION is not for me. But the "Pro Drums" seems awesome!
manhuntruler2 1 year ago
@manhuntruler2 One of many reasons why RB3 is brilliant is cuz the REAL guitar is WORTH IT. Why? Your not buying the guitar just for just a game... LMAO. That guitar can also be played for REAL, with a real AMP. Not just for a game like you said.
v3teran 1 year ago
@v3teran I forgot 2 mention that i already have a REAL guitar. And am more of a drummer/vocalist and bassist myself. But i know a few who play Expert Guitar and REAL guitar and they say it's totally not worth it. And i agree. The Pro Drums thing is more understanding than Pro Guitar. It will just seem to many that RB3 is going 2 far.
manhuntruler2 1 year ago
@manhuntruler2 And I myself forgot to mention that for those have already got a guitar, oh well. They can simply just buy RB3 without the REAL guitar, its that simple. its not mandatory. My point still stands. The Real guitar is indeed WORTH IT, excluding those who already have a guitar. Even my own guitar mentor says its worth it.
v3teran 1 year ago
I'm really surprised at an 8 out of 10 considering that all other game reviewers gave it around a 6 for the fact that it is almost exactly like gh5, which is something Cena didn't say once during the review.
p3ter20002000 1 year ago
@p3ter20002000 cuz gh5 is garbage
steelJ4RV1S 1 year ago

It would be mighty hard to move from that model as we are still next gen.
jovanus 1 year ago
@jovanus Well I think it will be a while before we see RB4. I would not be surprised if it were another two years. I think Harmonix may have their hands in something else Rhythm game wise that they may want to break. It took them two years for RB3 although they had authored the pro drum charting since RB1. Harmonix is more into taking their time and have one epic game, then having to put out many games. So it will be a while my friend, but the DLC is what will keep RB moving on.
CenasCorner 1 year ago
i actually completely agree with u on activision coming out with an all guitar game again...as much as i love playing the drums on expert, guitar hero was GUITAR HERO when it was only guitar lol

darkwater124 1 year ago
@darkwater124 dude, power gig sucks ass, its a waste of anybodies money who buys it, who the fucking wants to play air drums? or play "learn how to play real guitar" with power gig, rb3 will teach you how to actually play
PandaLopez12 1 year ago
About the new drums. I had the GHWT set since it came out and I just absolutely hate it. The new kit was like a god send. All the problems I had with my GHWT kit were gone. It's quieter, it's VERY responsive, and the cymbals move. There's like a tension screw on the top that adjusts how much your cymbals move when you hit them and I thought that was a great idea. Hope you do a review on them when you get your kit.
Tiduspeco 1 year ago
I think the guitar only games are played out and would have been the death of the franchise. Drums and Vocals have added a ton to the game! Song licensing would prohibit them from having a band game and a guitar game, because most of the fun drum and vocal songs are from the metal genre. Bad sales are most likely a reflection of the economy and over saturation created by Activision and not the fact that its a bad game. GH6 is my favorite GH game to date.

They said that they couldn't put all of 2112 as one song due to disc memory limits or something like that.
freakinsweet830 1 year ago
@freakinsweet830 AHH but then the question comes to mind on how Harmonix did the Abbey Road Medley on Beatles?
CenasCorner 1 year ago
@CenasCorner DLC is a different story since it goes on your hard drive. On disc is a little more difficult.
Brockbfball1563 1 year ago
@Brockbfball1563 @acezospad3s True True I was not thinking about that.
CenasCorner 1 year ago
@CenasCorner Abbey Road Medley is DLC, therefore the charts and stuff run off the HD and not the disc. mystery solved.
acezospad3s 1 year ago
@CenasCorner Well it looks like other people have already stated the whole DLC/HD thing, but also the fact that Beatles had a smaller song list on disc even though they had harmonies and dreamscapes etc. While GH has 87 or 93 depending on how you count 2112
freakinsweet830 1 year ago
i dont think they said all metal i think they said all rock.

Going back to just guitar would be crossing the line between nostalgic and primitive.
Otherwise, I agree that this was a great game.
cicabeot1 1 year ago
Here's my interpretation of what everyone refers to as the whole "flooding of the market" - rather than compete with Harmonix/MTV's massive library of DLC, Activision opted for a disc-based delivery system as the main focus, wherein the unit price per song is much lower than if everything was just DLC. That is a fairly optimistic take, though. It's more likely that Activision wanted to release that many games in order to make more money. They're not known for the wisest business decisions
MajorGeek42 1 year ago
@MajorGeek42 Yeah I was not meaning as far as DLC. The norm as you know if to release a game every year. This is what Harmonix stated in the beginning they would not do. I feel it would have been wise for Activision to do the same thing. As in those 2 years you can concentrate on a block buster game, and use things around it to make it better like DLC. No one really missed a game a year from Harmonix (talking big release) because of the amount of DLC.
CenasCorner 1 year ago
After watching the full video, I have to say I'm impressed with the integrity as opposed to the previous 'mini pre-review' you did on the demo. Drum charting in GH isn't 'bad', more-so the placement of pads on their kit, forcing the charts to be awkward with tom fills. That and the loose timing window throws me so off. This is a good game, RB3 will be a good game, both have some design flaws to be dealt with.
funkboy111 1 year ago
i agree with wat ur saying about the whole band hero thing but i feel like people just wanna be able to play the whole band instead of just the guitar ya know guitar hero cant keep adding things to the guitar aspect of the game theres only so much u can do so eventually they would hit a brick wall which is why they probably added more instraments so they would have more versatility i just dont think theres enough people who would wanna just play the guitar for it to work out for them
XREHONX 1 year ago
@XREHONX You make a good point. However at this stage in the game, Activision is going to have to come out with something unique to grab the audience. Know what I mean? If any game company just keep doing what their competition does, then I feel it will continue to be compared and may be stale before it is even released.
CenasCorner 1 year ago
@CenasCorner that makes sense... but theres really not a whole lot any band type of game can really do to make their games better... i guess the whole keyboard thing was a good idea .... but whats after that? i just kinda feel like eventually its gonna come down to which company has better songs thats all its gonna come down to and its gonna just be based on whatever the person preffers like personally i am a guitar hero guy just because the drums are decent and with rockband u have to buy
XREHONX 1 year ago
@XREHONX Yeah I agree. I do not see what other instrument can be added now. I think like you said it is going to come down to music and preference. I think Activision is smart that they added DJ Hero to the line up. Because this will keep their franchise going and could get people who would have never bought GH to buy it based on DJ Hero. What is next we will just have to wait and see:)

Quest mode is more of a Guitar Hero style mode. That's what they've always been like, in that way, that fantastic over-the-top, ridiculous style game. I found it fun, and the power ups amusing and it was a lot of fun.
Magiffin 1 year ago
Only thing i really disagree with is the Quest Mode. I really enjoyed it, it was a different idea that hasn't been done before and I thought it was pretty neat. But that is just my opinion. On a side note... Where is your computer at? The reason I ask is i noticed that your HD PVR is sitting way up on top of your shelf, which im guessing is about 5-6 feet off the ground. Do you have like a USB extender or something, or do you move the PVR when you record with it?

@funkboy111 Brian bright stated that in a video. His quote was " We are going back to our roots which is an all rock/metal soundtrack" He really pressed the Metal aspect in the video, and most of the stuff that I saw at least was featuring metal music. I will say that the all metal soundtrack of the Demi God was well done though. By the time you get to him even if you do not like metal, you will enjoy it.

I thought quest mode was kinda weird but the fact that it had all of 2112 (although I wish you could play it all in one without the breaks in between sections) was really cool.
