Very fine tutorial. This song is a favorite but because of the layered guitars was difficult to find the right way to play the intro. I've watched dozens of EC Layla Live videos and Eric and his guitar partner play it many different ways. On his Live set Crossroads 2, the other guitarist, Joe Terry, plays yet another way (different fingering). This tutorial captures the feel and sound of the intro best. Easy to follow. The guy plays beautifully, too.

Great lesson considering I was able to work it out as a beginner, however i found it easier to play the opening riff on E on the 5th fret, I play it that way so you have less distance to travel to the chords.

After that you will be able to follow this lesson and many others. When you finish with this DVD set then get Desi Serna's DVD set that will teach you the foundation of modern playing. didn't realize it was so easy. quite similar to riffs by albert king, pink phloyd, winwood. mostly basic pentatonic with some nice bends. still, thanx for the lesson i didn't know that intro and those little passing chords. that helps. and thanx for the winwood lesson. now i can find my way back home even betterrrrrr. (actually i used to use b- and c to d instead of the e-. it all works but this is more like the orig.

I love this video, this is how video lessons should be done. Short and to the point. I'm an intermediate guitar player and too many times video lessons are broken down so much and move so slow that it's actually harder to learn the song. At least it is for me. It's harder for me to learn songs if the instruction moves so slow that what is being taught loses the feel of the song. Slow might be good for beginners but not intermediates or pro's. Just get me there and i'll figure it out. Thanks
