Wow. That video sucked balls. And that's saying a lot, because I'm a devoted fan and have at least 4 of their albums on my iPod. I love Edge of Thorns, Dead Winter Dead, and The Wake of Magellan. This video is weak.

listen closely?......what was never heard in the 80's were the distinctive octave pull-offs in the rythm riff, and it's even better than that!....the syncopation of the rythm was, again, never heard in metal until this. this was as ground-breaking as Eddie Van Halen's Eruption, but on the basic rythm level....true genius here. the video sucked, but that rythm riff will be with me until i'm done. HeadBangers Ball signed off with this in the 80's....any clout there?
If I were Jon Oliva, I would have refused to do this video. The song is classic, but this video is so moronic and makes the band look silly ... esp with Jon making those funny faces.

Criss Oliva was not a shitty guitarist. Have you heard Streets? That's an incredible album, much better than the entire Metallica discography, in my opinion. The video here is stupid, that's true. I saw them with megadeath and dio and although i liked megadeath I payed money to see SAVATAGE. All my friends were into magedeath, anthrax, flotsom, and of course tallica who i also love but Savatage was MY favorite. Even in thier prime I always felt that Savatge was the most underated and underappriciated band ever.Viewing this site I was supprised to learn how influencial they were to many artist especialy Criss. And to me Jon is one of the best singers of all time.
I was very saddened to learn that Cris passed away many years ago. It was that man I who inspired me to pick up a guitar and play metal. His licks were so awsome and leads made me wonder if he sold his soul.I´m glad I got to see him atleast once live. In the 80´s I always looked for Savatage in metal mags and stayed up all night watching headbangers ball hoping to see the mk vid but they where seldom written about or shown I did hear mk on the radio from time to time though.
Savatage is one of the greatest metal bands ever. As a kid I never really listened to metal until I heard a friend playing the Sirens and Hall of the mountain king tapes It was love at first listen. I love all thier songs but Sirens holucost and hall of the mountain king are the ones that got me hooked.I emmidiatly bought the records and listened to them over and over again ,they would take me to another world making music videos in my head till I fell asleep. The main riff just plays off of the blues scale. The "evil" note is the flat 5th. You play the E minor Blues scale, but its tuned in C standard, so you are actually playing C minor Blues.

I remember one night I was feeling angry, hurt and disrespected that I didn't get invited to a rich girl's wedding and I was watching Metal Mania, when this song came on I began rocking out and it helped me get over the girl and realized that there are more things in life than being friends with the rich snobby girls.

been listening to these guys for a few years now and thought i was one of the few who still knew this band, but saw a kid twice as young as me, waering a jean jacket with a large Savatage patch on the back! thats awesome! no one should ever forget this band!

I´m so glad to see such an outpouring of love towards Criss and Jon and this band. For decades I thought I was the only one on earth who absulutley loved them. Thanks to everyone who posted kind and loving words about Criss and Savatage on this site I feel an immediate bond with all of you . R.I.P. Criss rock on Jon and the rest of the members of Savatge who brought us such great music. We will never forget you. I saw them with megadeath and dio and although i liked megadeath I payed money to see SAVATAGE. All my friends were into magedeath, anthrax, flotsom, and of course tallica who i also love but Savatage was MY favorite. Even in thier prime I always felt that Savatge was the most underated and underappriciated band ever.Viewing this site I was supprised to learn how influencial they were to many artist especialy Criss. And to me Jon is one of the best singers of all time.

I was very saddened to learn that Cris passed away many years ago. It was that man I who inspired me to pick up a guitar and play metal. His licks were so awsome and leads made me wonder if he sold his soul.I´m glad I got to see him atleast once live. In the 80´s I always looked for Savatage in metal mags and stayed up all night watching headbangers ball hoping to see the mk vid but they where seldom written about or shown I did hear mk on the radio from time to time though.

Savatage is one of the greatest metal bands ever. As a kid I never really listened to metal until I heard a friend playing the Sirens and Hall of the mountain king tapes It was love at first listen. I love all thier songs but Sirens holucost and hall of the mountain king are the ones that got me hooked.I emmidiatly bought the records and listened to them over and over again ,they would take me to another world making music videos in my head till I fell asleep. I saw them in San Antonio

The main riff just plays off of the blues scale. The "evil" note is the flat 5th. You play the E minor Blues scale, but its tuned in C standard, so you are actually playing C minor Blues.

I remember one night I was feeling angry, hurt and disrespected that I didn't get invited to a rich girl's wedding and I was watching Metal Mania, when this song came on I began rocking out and it helped me get over the girl and realized that there are more things in life than being friends with the rich snobby girls.
Thanks Savatage for putting out the good music and for helping me cope with my problems, you guys rock!

i met jon in 1988-89 in orlando,fl at a club named visage and i was there to see king diamond with flotsam&jetsam and king diamond sucked live so i went outside and hung out with mike gilbert and erik ak from flots and also rick rozz from death was there along with jon oliva and jon was about 6ft 5 i swear!!
