  • WONDERFUL!Thank You VERY much for uploading and for putting the time indication for every single nr.!

  • This, in my opinion, is the best music EVER written. I had the honor of singing this entire requiem with orchestra in my highschool choir =).

  • Gosh! I am crying. This is magnificent. Karajan is Mozart! I don't get tired to play it over and over again.

A buon intenditor.............

  • I love this. Thank you Mozart so much... thank you...

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ GENIAL !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vielen Dank! What could be better than the requiem with Karajan conducting! Glasses uplifted to Mozart and Karajan! My thanks for your posting and Bester respekt immer!

  • @TheMontanus777 I am so much flattered with your kind comment, thanks for your interest and am happy that you enjoyed it. Your welcome, best !

  • bueniiiiisimo!!! :D como no de la mano de Karajan... un 10!

  • the best performance of this requiem!

  • I've heard a much better version of this.

  • @6767smithy And which version is that one? [Just a question of curiosity]

  • This performance is brilliant, but unfortunately the quartet isn't meshing. They are reaching for notes too much, not in harmony with one another. The chorus is very strong though and on the whole it's an inspiring performance.

  • But then again, I probably wouldn't care, 'cause I'd be dead.

  • It's indeed a Mass. And I would Love this to be my Funeral Mass.

  • The beauty of the end!

    Great H.V.K!!!!

  • Egyik kedvenc zeneművem! Nagyon szeretem hallgatni! Csodálatos!

  • I can't find words to describe the beauty and greatness of this wonderful and magical symphony.

    and great orchestra!

    and great maestro!

    Thank you very much!

  • @elzaaimkoko It's not a Symphony, it's a Death Mass: Requiem!

  • Beautiful.

  • This is what the word "beauty" means to me. And this recording is perfect. Thank you so much!

  • @Wolfzart89 Ur welcome, am happy that u enjoyed it, best ! :)

  • I call this Perfection... Look at his hand at last 2 bars... Magic itself...

  • my private thanks to pan Sýkora...my freind, and very good man in Brno Czech republic..my tribute to him...never forget you...with my sencerely and love ladislav Ševec

  • so spiritually uplifting. absolutely remarkable! puts me in, if such a thing, absolute peace as long as i continue to listen. thank you for posting

  • @3Sepii13 Ur welcome, enjoy, best :)

  • Very beautiful. Thank you for posting

  • @1979Musicfan Ur welcome, enjoy, best :)

  • Karajan in supreme form here as if preparing for his own requiem.

  • Today's Mozart's birthday and also the Memorial Day for all the victims of the Shoa.

I think there is non better way to remember them than to listen to such a sublime perfection!

  • Comment removed

  • Sublime!

  • perfection... the best music ever written

thanks for uploading, and reminding us!

  • perfect

  • classical music? give me a break!

best rock piece in the 18th century!

  • @workingclassvillian What kind of rock has such contrapuntal and motivic complexity?

  • @thebloads atom hearth mother perhaps

  • @ubberbob not close. Anything else? Ive been trying to get into prog rock for years but i cant find anything compelling.

  • @thebloads I really suggest you to start with the unique Live concert of the Sweet Smoke band, the first song is "First Jam". Anyhow, you must not try to compare classical musique with rock. The essence of Rock n roll is improvisation and self performance wich is a different concept.

  • Astonishing, what's not to like!

  • @007LvB What's not to like? The horrible, pompous performance of madman Von Karajan.

  • @MoscowMaestro Well I guess then that it's a matter of taste..

  • i am a devoted Karajan fan and have not come across this DVD before perhaps it is not available in the UK,however i have just watched it and of course it is magnificent and i thank thoes responsible for posting the complete on this site.

  • @tatters1232006 Thank you very much for your comment and your welcome. Some Karajan video recordings done for Telemondial are very hard to find. This is one of them. A Missa Solemnis recording from 1985 tops the list. There is also a '4 last song' recording with Anna Tomowa Sintow which as far as I know have never been published. There are forums about these almost mythified recording because of not publishing. Hope to see them soon in the market.

  • It's so good to know that someone listening this at the same time. I believe that perfections exist and Requiem is one of them.

  • Köszönöm, hogy feltetted! A legjobb Mozart Requiem előadás, amit csak hallottam!

  • @fasormystral Szívesen, örülök, hogy tetszik. Hallgassa szeretettel ! Legjobbakat ! :)

  • Can't believe that many vocalists memorized the whole thing!!!

  • @violinfootball This one and many other classical pieces are at the core of their repertoire so they know them by heart. They, for example even know Brahms' German Requiem, Missa Solemnis by Beethoven, Verdi's Requiem etc. by heart, all those works being longer and harder compositions compared to this one. Great music making !

  • This video deserves at least 1080p.

  • @aRichBastard Couldn't better this, sorry.

  • @cagin NP. The fact you uploaded this amazing video is awesome enough.

  • @aRichBastard Ur welcome, enjoy, best :)

  • Sure, great music but Von Karajan did better with Van Beethoven. This is not a very vibrant and colorful performance. Static and boring. Thanks for uploading though.

  • @yvesvangelre Ur welcome, best :)

  • Amazing! And among angel voices is Anna's voice.What else I can say - divine!Mozart & Karajan!

  • The best of the best. Thanks for posting.

  • @Kennych100 Ur welcome, enjoy, best :)

  • this is what i was looking , allthe time. simple mozaet requiem karajan. this is best liturgy on the world

  • I really don't like the directors interpretation of the bass volume during some of the solos. I think it sounds better with the bass in equal volume to the other 3 parts.

  • When the violins start playing in time with the women chorus it made me understand the beauty of Mozart with this piece.Simply perfection in all time and space. A work from the mind of God!

  • The perfect rendition of the perfect melodia: The Maestro von Karajan was already injured in his back so as to need to be sustained by a round chair.

  • In my humble opinion, the best music EVER written!.....it has every fine ingredient imaginable, and the end result is total perfection. Thanks for sharing!(and thanks to "Amadeus" the film, for introducing me to such breathtaking music!)

  • @martlad1 Hi. Your welcome and am happy that you enjoyed it. 'Best music ever written' might be too strong since this work is not even completed by it's composer but his students, musicologists etc. but still if you liked it that much, I'd strongly suggest you to go on for other Mozart's. There I think you'll find many more jewels like this, that you'll enjoy.

    Best :)

  • @martlad1 you got the point man...

  • @martlad1 Thanks for this idea, is very useful for me cause I'm studying this Requiem

  • Eterno.

  • best version best choir~

  • meraviglioso

  • Karajan got the intensity exactly right.

  • It's quite a strange choice to have the tuba mirum played by the whole trombone section instead that the 2nd only as it's written on the score.

  • @therealh I think that's not the case here. As far as I hear (and I might be wrong, I don't 've and absolute pitch or whatever at all) only one trombone plays that part as it's written in the score but for the video recording they show 3 of them for no obvious reason, probably just to make it seem more majestic. Let me tell you that in these Telemondial Film-concert recordings almost all wind clips are recorded separately in order to achieve 'better' shots of the instruments.

  • @jamesthebarracuda Ur welcome, enjoy, best :)

  • This is just epic! I really don't listen to classical music this much, but this is the best piece of music ever written IMO.

  • @Fata1paradOx One of them... There is no best music piece ever, in the same way that there is no best paint ever or best book ever. Mozart's Requiem, Velázquez's Meninas and Quijote's by Cervantes are good examples of best in arts, but there are no the only one. PS: Two of three are from Spanish artists...

  • This rendition moves me to tears! It's just beautiful!

  • Mozart and Karajan = shut up ,listen ,rewind ,shut up ,listen ....

  • I listen to it over and over again, and I love it more every time!!!

  • Thanks Mom for turning me onto Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin when I was a little boy. This is and always will be the most beautiful music in the world. Please rest in peace and may you always be surrounded by the music you taught me to love.

  • Am I the only that is scared by the telemundial clip ?

  • Hello my name is rafael and i live in Brasil !

The CHANNEL Berlin Philarmonic notices sent ywo in my account letting my channel in bad condition for i have posted a symphony 7 and 9 COMPLETE with Karajan conduction ,

if they do not have this material not cet others because i´m puttig you send this to say they blocked me and that's how they return the love from fans

it did not money but by the love of music

Thank you for your attention !

  • 10:17 Almost! <3

  • Way way better than Verdi's....

  • @jimtzikis verdi is an unecessary pedant in his requiem... a lot of notes, hours of music, and quite boring.

    all smoke and no fire

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt Therefore it's one of the most performed and recorded Requiem's. Boring? Verdi's Requiem is as moving as any opera by him. That work is Dramatic in every sense.

  • @cagin naaah too long :D

I didn't mean it's "always" boring, but it becomes quite.. heavy? to listen to the end

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt Let it be the way you put it :) Still I heart fully recommend you to give one more try to it. A Karajan - 84 video recording may change your ideas. Who knows? ;) If it is that long for you, give a break before Offertorium :)

  • @jimtzikis oh yeah? :) Way better? It is not even completed.

  • @cagin Ok...:) But even the Introitus which it's said that is 100% by Mozart, is a Masterpiece.....Personal opinion....:):):)

  • @jimtzikis it's indeed a masterpiece :) which doesn't make Verdi's work a boring one. Pity that Mozart never completed this Requiem and Great Mass K. 427. Both would be masterpieces. They are torso's now.

  • @sinatrabone: Actually, I find the solo played by tree trombones not effective at all. It gives it some kind of "thickness" that I don't like.

  • Remember Vukovar

    18.11.1991.-18.11.2011.

  • questa e' una meraviglia

  • My favorite is 25:54 - 29:28 I cry every time.

  • @halofannatic that time interval corresponds to the movement lacrimosa which as far as I know can be loosely translated as 'tears of cry'. That says all y many people 've tears there.

Standing everybody, giving fames for all of you with this Great Victrious

Art promoter as a Von holder.

Why did he have this plan in my chirdhood?

  • This is certainly a great performance, though sometimes too dramatic. One should listen to the very old recording with Bruno Walter.

Thank you for having uploaded this marvellous piece!!!

  • non mi piace affatto.

  • Sencillamente: Sublime!!!

  • @crossbike I don't need to believe in something supernatural in order to make a sense of my life. This music and it's creator Mozart, a human being, is enough supernatural to me. And I don't postpone peace to eternity but am sure that we can achieve it here, right now.

    Thanks for your comment anyway.

  • i'm glad this was the first classical piece I heard... So heavenly, I'd have to make up words to describe it :/

  • An excellent rendition, a little slower and at a lower pitch, along with a staccato touch.

Oh Mozart, why did you die before finishing it yourself? and even so...your Requiem has no match and it will never have one!

  • @metroboy777 Had it been only the Requiem what he didn't finish, I would try to find a way to take it easy but he also didn't finish the famous Great Mass in c minor k.427, take that ! It's as if he aimed not to finish a masterpiece in religious choral music (Coronation mass is finished, yes, but it's a missa brevis)

  • @metroboy777 Yes, it was really a pity that Mozart died before the completion of this masterpiece. As to "matching pieces"... I think that Brahms' Deutsches Requiem would be a good couple with Mozart's :)

  • Karajan looks like god when he plays this.. But i don't know if it is an illusion or a reality, help me

  • Just amazing.

  • The Viennese are the best at Mozart. There is no question the are the best at performing Mozart. It is in their blood. They are proud to have such a great musical genius in their ranks.

  • @PattiKay63 Leonard Bernstein, in the documentary 'The Love of Three Orchestras' of 1984, says almost exactly the same about Vienna Philharmonic. And they deserve that epithet very much indeed.

  • @cagin Yes they do. I studied with Asher G. Zlotnik Ph. D. He was a great teacher and taught me what music is. I ask Dr. Z a question after a lesson about forward motion and he answered in such a way that placed him in line with the greats. I learned a geat deal about music from him. Four years of intense driving training of the ear and studies of the Bach Cello Suites and Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin.

  • I might say you can hear the culture here. This is a definitive performance. Bernstein is not all that great. My teacher was in master classes with him Fritz Reiner teaching. Got the inside scoop. Bottom line is Karajan is a great and this performance shows it.

  • where is dies irae??

  • @ClassicHolic check the playlist at 'show more'. it's at 10'.16''. Best.

  • @isol10 Amen.

  • Merci pour ce document, captivant. Si proche de la perfection, presque trop.

  • Am I the only one having problems with Left/Right Sound? the whole beginning is mostly only left sided.

  • Herbert von Karajan was a great conductor, but Hes version here doesn´t match the one of Leonard Bernstein from 1989. I think many of his tempos are to fast, and he is not emotional enough for my taste, very German in a way if I may say so ( this is not a critisism on the Germans in general) but was very delicate but very icy as a conductor, always nice stringsound, but not enough passion in him for my taste.

  • @Dionysosable He was a great conductor and I think here he does great. Compared to Bernstein's version he might be less flexible about tempo and expression but I don't think I can call it less emotional. Bernstein sometimes loses the architecture of the work i.e. : his lacrymosa is extremely slow (like Bohm's) and Agnus Dei not as dramatic as here. What I admire in Karajan is whatever he does he does it staying IN the work. Btw : Both readings I admire much. Still maybe I prefer Karajan's. Best.

  • @Dionysosable Wow! I've never heard Karajan accused of being too fast. Usually it is the reverse, that he is too slow. I've checked out the Bernstein version and do not agree with you. I adore Bernstein and after Karajan he is my favorite conductor, but his version from 1989 is a total mess. Too slow and surprisingly so, and the textures are muddled. Neither version beats the old Colin Davis recording from Phillips with Minton, Donath and Hans Sotin, if I remember it properly. Cheers.

  • The greatest Herbert Von Karajan and the best known Mozart's Requiem in Dmoll KV 626.

  • This is simply the best interpretation of probably the best music score ever. No one but Karajan have ever played the Requiem with so much refinement and power at the same time. It's absolutely perfect, Karajan covered pure beauty with flawlessness.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Enorme!!!Magnífico!!!!!Digno de un Dios!!!!!

  • The Requiem conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is way better recorded and performed.

  • @sergioh91 is it on youtube?

  • ¡estupendo!

  • Dear 'cagin', you have made a great benefaction for humanity.
