  • Hey, I missed this video! LOL. Yes I was in the Dutch army ('87-'88) and we did not have any name tags! This stuff looks a damn lot better than the plain old green shirts I had to wear in the Dutch Army. Actually until you showed the label I wasn't sure it was Dutch lol. KAT = cotton but I have never heard of PES. But I guess it stands for polyester or something like that. Mix - 65/35...

  • @f0xmuld3r Maat = size (centimeters). wash at 60 degrees celcius, no dry cleaning, you can iron it and I have no clue what the P stands for :-)

  • Maybe it's too late but good luck on your test.

  • Good luck with your test.

  • Cool stuff, my brother is in the Dutch army and wears the same stuff.

    kat/pes means Cotton/Polyesther I think.

  • Good Luck on the test John!!

    I'm confident!!

  • John - I always enjoy your gear reviews! One thing I appreciate about your channel is the international aspect and how you roll in gear from other countries. Good luck on the exam my friend!

  • good luck bud

  • Good luck on the exam. I use to love getting surplus. When I was a kid that is mostly what I wore. I got to big to wear the stuff around 14 or so. I can never find anything to fit my 58" chest.

  • Good luck tomorrow. Its a cotton/poly blend.

  • Good Luck John.

  • The electronics and physics stuff is REALLY hard. Have you seen the website qrz.com They have practice tests on there...

  • I know you will do good. Won't be long and you will be talking with the ISS like Doc. Good Luck

  • Good luck on your exam. I'm sure you'll do great. 73's, Scott - KF7HKP

  • Good luck buddy! I know you can do it!!

  • memorize answers ...... #LOL Good luck

  • Good luck, you'll do fine. Looking forward to seeing your HAM interactions in the future.

  • Good luck on the exam.

  • Have faith, go in with the attitude you will pass. Good luck.

  • @biguy525 Thanks my friend!

  • Good luck!

  • @jnjulie to you too man, the hamwhisperer's YT videos have sure helped me!

  • don't sweat the exam - look I'll break it down for ya - ya got yer domestic ham and ya got yer imported ham, just be careful to double-check what country the ham is imported from, cause ya don't want none o' that soviet ham, its radioactive from that trans-gerbil place and it glows in the dark

  • @ravenbones1 Soviet ham, never thought about that. What about Chinese ham, isn't that where all the flus come from? Swine in China?

  • Thats awesome man!

If you don't pass the first time don't stress. The test is kinda hard at first and seems like a poop ton of learning but really it isn't after you used it for a while. I do not have mine yet but I been into radios for years.

I know some ham guess dont agree but even running a cb and a scanner for a while helps out too. I have never study for ham but taken practice tests and passed based of what I learn from CB and scanner.

  • @daddyoca69 I've been scanning for years, and doing some CB stuff. I also enjoy listening to Short Wave radio, there was something exciting about turning that knob and stumbling upon some remote radio station from Canada or Africa. Well, hopefully tomorrow I will pass the exam and then wait to get my license. Thanks for watching.

  • @Tacticalgearhead Thats awesome! I have not done shortwave in years. I used to as a kid and I mis it. Right now I run a Ubc780xlt inside and bct8's in the cars..

I love searching for more and more things. I leave my scanner on all the time logging hits so I can trace them down later.

but good luck tomorrow! you will do fine!

  • @daddyoca69 I have a Sangean SW radio at home, I forgot the model number, but it has always worked well. Have you seen the new Home Patrol scanner from Uniden, that thing is awesome, looks like a GPS unit and it automatically downloads all the frequencies and programs your scanner for you. Check it out, there are even YouTube videos about it. It's a little pricey at $500 dollars, but it looks well-worth the money. I don't know if it will do Starcom21 in IL, but if it does, I'm saving up.

  • @Tacticalgearhead I saw that from my wholesaler and I looked at it quickly but they didn't have any real doc's on it yet. Someone else told me its kinda a cheater setup because its pulling the data from radioreference. I not sure if that is really true but it sure does look like a internet radio lol..

I dont think its worth 500. They just made it so hard to program them now, that you have to buy the easy expensive one to use it.

  • @daddyoca69 I admit that I will have to get the expensive easy one, because I will never be able to figure out how to program a scanner to accept the APCO25 or Starcom21 system that my county now uses. I hate that they switched, my old Radioshack Pro-94 was awesome and did dual trunking, but it can't do the Starcom21. I don't even know how I managed to program that thing originally, I just pushed all the buttons until I got the right talkgroups heehhe. It's rocket science!

  • Good luck,

  • @Resistance4Liberty appreciate it, thanks man.

  • Nice! I have been in the dutch army, and it's nice to see this video! :D 5/5

  • @butaangas Thanks man, I used to date a Dutch girl and I have a lot of Dutch friends. I was always amazed at how well they could speak other European languages. One guy spoke Dutch, English, German, French, and Swedish. I have a hard enough time speaking any language hehehe.
