Does the B2M benefit from certain frequencies going into it? Say if I use an active bass with an onboard EQ, is there a chance that tracking will be more precise if I, for example, crank up the mids?
@Rickysaur A flat frequency response is usually best. However, if the fundamental tone is suppressed (or if the harmonics are more powerful than the fundamental), it can cause problems with the wrong octave being detected. In these cases, rolling off the higher frequencies can help. But it all depends on your playing and your instrument. I suggest leaving it flat, then experimenting with boost/cut if you have problems.
Hi, I'm planning to get something like this for my trio, because when the guitar plays higher notes, especially solos, a single bass just isn't enough. I'm planning to use this parallel with my original bass sound, so the delay should be even less of a problem. What do you think, are there better solutions for this problem?
They dont say it and they'll never admit it but this absolutely cannot be used live. I've got one and alright but all these demos are by uber musos who have very few artifices in their sound. Your average to very good bass player has lots and the b2m hears them and converts them to nonsense. i use it for some programming. At least its cheap
@Schwarzesmann hI. NOT QUITE SURE WHAT YOU MEAN. i'M PLUGGED STRAIGHT INTO MY ABLETON LIVE. I've been dealing with their help service and even gave them recordings but they never replied
@wolfduke Thank for your comment I been tryin g to find out how dose it works live! No one has replied except you. No one on youtube has played it in a live band setting for me to be convince the tracking is great. I love the ideal, but its got to work in practical situations. I love to dig in a groove, can it do that!?
you might want to roll off the higher frequencies with a good and sharp EQ, and possibly a gate, before putting it to use to avoid articulated fret sounds and such. Also, a bass guitar isn't the only sound source you can feed it with. given you put quite some recistance on the line before plugging it in, you should be able to manouver a midi synth from the output of an analogue one. great for stacking voices on top of each other!
It totally depends on what you aim for. Remember that you aren't restricted to any kind of sound as long as your technique is fine. I would recommend a desktop unit or a modular in most cases. probably waldorf blofeld, dave smith instruments evolver or mopho, and, if you can afford it, cwejman s1 (about the best modern mono synth there is, actually, when it comes to tonal quality).
as a side-note to what i just did write: dave smith instruments evolver is a great buy since you also can use it as a distortion and resonant filter effect for normal bass sounds. mopho got nice sub oscillator functions you will want if you aim to play bass sounds with your midi-empowered bass.
How does it handle low-B notes? I am thinking of getting one to control my MFB Synth Lite, would be great to have both the synth and my bass going on at the same time!

Do I understand it right, it's monophonic, doesn't work with chords?

would it work well connected to an ESP LTD F404 bass with 2 active EMG humbuckers?
shdggsdv 10 months ago
@shdggsdv It should work fine. You may need to turn your volume down a bit if the signal clips a lot (the EMGs can be quite hot).

@wolfduke have you tried to put it first on your signal path???

Anyone able to suggest which model of midi synth to use with the B2M?

It handles Low-B pretty well. Bearing in mind the period of a low B is 32ms, the B2M does a good job of keeping the latency down.
